Harris has already ducked the first question about Biden's economy although she really had no choice but to do that.
What does Harris have to do with Biden's great economy? She was VP who implemented the President's policies. Now, she has her own but supports the success of Biden's economy. Let's look at the facts.
Yes, the Biden economy is one of the strongest in the world with over 3% GDP growth and record highs in the stock market (although a small decline now from its peak), Huge investments in alternative energy while producing record amounts of oil/gas outputs and approved leases on private lands. We are close to refining capacity, and the only Biden restriction is for new leases on public lands. It is not needed since there is plenty available on private lands.
Massive investment in new manufacturing to not be dependent on China, huge increases in employment. Instead of Trump just tossing checks to everyone, that was delayed because he insisted his name be on the checks vs. PPP program to companies that continue to pay wages during the COVID shutdown based on need. Much of the Biden spending was for people and investment in the future, such as energy alternatives due to climate change faster than even predicted. ETC ETC
On food inflation. WHAT THE HECK CAN ANY PRESIDENT DO? Inflation is global due to many international factors, including the Ukraine war (The breadbasket of the world), huge floods, and climate-related disasters hiking food prices, which are mostly determined on futures markets with no control by the President. Likewise, energy prices are based on global pricing, either WTI or Brent. NO president affects global inflation. Energy prices have plummeted with WTI (US West Tex International) now below $70. Brent (Europe) is always higher due to delivery, higher costs, etc.
The FED has tried to slow the booming US economy by increasing interest rates, which have resulted in inflation dropping to about 3% on the way to its 2% target.
Neither Trump nor Harris can wave their magic wand and bring down food prices other than price controls to reduce increases. But they have now stabilized and, in some cases, declined. When last tried decades ago in the US, that was a disaster. There is perhaps something to Harris's idea of going after price gouging, but good luck with that. It is true some companies have taken advantage of the situation by not bringing down wholesale prices as their costs fell. But good luck with that court fight.
Harris was NOT THE BORDER CZAR. She was tasked only with investigating the reasons for the mass migration seeking refugee status in the US from three (or four) specific countries. She organized a task force and was very successful in raising, I think, 500 m in private funding to help the economies of these countries in hopes of slowing down the legal millions of immigrants.
It is a lie to call legally seeking refugee status as millions of criminals, etc, as "illegal." I think it was PL Law 170, and under the Immigration Act, they are legally seeking refugee status and given papers for an immigration hearing. Due to a lack of funding and judges, unfortunately, their court date maybe 3-5 years from now with the huge backlog. The false lies of Trump in the debate were amazing how countries have lower crime since sending their criminals to the US, and we have such a surge in immigrant crimes, when FBI stats show decreases over recent years of violent crime in the US and that per capita immigrants have a lower crime rate than non-immigrants.
Trump's lies abound like Dems are taking in mass immigrants to vote for Dems. NON-CITIZENS CAN NOT VOTE. Penalty if they do us usually deportation and it is a felony.
There are so many lies, but that is what he has done his entire life: impeachments, felony convictions, civil suites, sex charges, six bankruptcies, his proven fraud of Trump University, His Trump charity, The Trump organization with its guy now in Prison, not to mention his false lies and violence from his insistence he won the 2020 election after loss of every court challenge, the disbarment of some Julie and many of his attorney's in legal trouble their baseless lawsuits.
And that is just a start. By the way, he has lost all of his elections by millions of votes but only won his term due to our silly Electoral College system. As Harris says in the 2020 election, he was fired by 81 million votes.
It is a disgrace that so many follow his MAGA cult despite massive defamation lawsuits against Fox and related false information channels. Wallace and others who were real reporters with ethics, such as verifying facts, left Fox since they could no longer stand the misinformation of the "Opinion" stars vs real reporters.
