Here’s a question for some of the “republicans”. Take Trumpy out of equation. Forget who you think would get the nomination, who would you want?

Really?
OK.
What makes her an attractive candidate?
Why would you want to pick her?

She has no specific skills or qualities, but this is not needed in the toxic environment of MeToo, BLM etc. As you can see candidates are criticized for flaws not for the absence of abilities . Democrats would have hard time to run against her, this is for sure. How you can criticize mom that has been championing women rights? For republicans, it is enough that she is Trump’s daughter and a big plus is good looks and some intelligence. Do you think Kamala has any chances against her?

Anyone who can win a primary has a chance in a voting environment this polarized. Once someone is their party's choice, they have 45% of the vote already by default more or less.

Yes, we have seen it with Biden who basically had only one plus on his side: not being Trump. Though even this is dissolving now. Americans have a very short memory span. Some even miss G.W. Bush despite Iraq war fiasco.

Is he MAGAstani? Doubt it

Yeah, all Republicans are against masks, wow.

Stone Cold politics

Stone Cold hasn’t had much to say on the political front, either, but I do have some corroboration of opinion that he’s a Republican.56

Yup, Americans love to think of earlier presidents in a nicer light. It happens all the time. That nostalgia usually fades away if they come back into the public spotlight for any length of time.

I always assumed he was a Republican from what little he has said on the matter.

Canada voted in a fucking moron because his dad was P.E. Trudeau who was also hated, anything can happen.
I wasn't questioning it was possible. The question asked was "Forget who you think would get the nomination, who would you want? "
I was curious what made him want her.
I don't think she is a likely pick by the party voters, but I do think that if she got the nomination, she would be competitive.

^^^^^ If someone was a devoted Liberal who thrives for free stuff and letting the woke society run your life, Trudeau is valuable, just like Ivanka would be to Republicans to their wants and needs.

If your party wins you are going to get *some* of what you want, obviously. That even seems to be part o minuteman's motivation since he seems to want to choose her specifically because he thinks she would run effectively against who he thinks the Dem candidate would be. It doesn't matter she has "no specific skills or qualities" - getting in power is enough to get things you want or prevent things you don't.

That seems perfectly rational to me as a way to make his decision.

A recent “60 Minutes” report that detailed Florida’s vaccine rollout and Gov. Ron DeSantis’ role in it, but the network landed in some hot water after several Democratic lawmakers pushed back on its reporting that Publix, a grocery store that had partnered with the state to distribute vaccines, had donated $100,000 to Gov. Ron DeSantis' 2022 reelection campaign.
In this latest episode of The Point, CNN’s Chris Cillizza explains how DeSantis is using the “60 Minutes” drama to appeal to his Republican base.
