Let me put it this way, anything to the extreme is not good and leftism is indeed a disease. It is funny you mention hate talk because we got a few on this board who hate on Trump all day and made multiple threads. Trudeau is the most divisive of them all and incited many culture war, he used vaccine mandates to score political points then used abortion to score more political points. Only point is since both are bad one has to choose the better of two evils. DeSantis did right to not impose covid mandates and did right to discourage homosexuality. It is so bad to be educating young kids on gender identity and sexual orientation, leave the kids out of it (stop the indoctrination, these are things left to the parents to talk to with their kids) and stop promoting homosexuality (in this way I say leftism is a disease including their need to control as in covid mandates and using wokeness to manipulate, and taxing everyone to the max to redistribute income).
Extremism is not a viable political or social position. Don't ignore the right-wing extremism because it's much more dangerous than it is on the left. Right-wing extremists in the US are against democracy and in favor of white nationalist fascism. They stoke fear and hate with culture war pseudo issues like the ones you cited.

You are confused with my stance. Did you bother to read my explanation on Canadian politics vs American politics in the Trudeau thread? About democracy, left-wing extremists are the ones against democracy, they pushed the hardest for covid mandates. Jorgensen said the U.S. government's response to the covid-19 pandemic as overly bureaucratic and authoritarian, calling restrictions on individual behavior (such as lockdowns) and corporate bailouts "the biggest assault on our liberties in our lifetime".I agree with her 100% and that is my stance on that. It was worse in Canada with Legault imposing a curfew and vaccine passports. Right-wing extremists have their own issues. Trudeau invoked the Emergency Act against peaceful trucker protests who just wanted to be free from mandates yet condemns Ford putting a back to work legislation on striking workers. Why the double standard? Why the free pass for left-wing extremists? Trudeau committed treason and fraud and got away with it because Singh keeps on propping him. They hijacked democracy, you are in no position to state what is against democracy.

Having said that you can call me an extremist, some seem to think me keeping my priority for freedom is extremist. My choice for party is the Libertarian Party of the United States and my vote goes to Spike Cohen / Jo Jorgensen. I mentioned DeSantis because he did some things right. The way I see it all victimless crimes should be abolished (all drugs legalized and prostitution legalized), abolishing the income tax act, and the right to bear arms. But people seem to vote either Democrat or Republican. You see a nut, it has a left side and a right side but both sides are attached to the same nut. Same principal, left or right both are the same. Both are authoritarian and both want to apply taxes.

I think some of your libertarian 'want list' is reasonable and should be discussed and decidedby the majorityof citizens. I think your hate for JT and the left is unwarranted and dangerous. Saying that "right-wing extremists have their own issues" is the understatement of all time. Maybe it's different in Canada, but in the US it's the far-right MAGA republicans that are the greatest threat to democracy. Left-wing vaccine mandates and passports are minor inconveniences compared with right-wing extremists who want to prevent voting, decide which votes to count, ignore the vote of the people to illegally stay in power, foment violence, and demonize anyone who does look or think like them.

With any luck Trump will be in the Big House, not the White House.

Meanwhile, having that treasonous perennial loser run is the best thing that could ever happen to the Democrats. He has become so unstable and toxic that even some of the far-right delusional Maga headcases have given up on him.

Man, people sure do LOVE to bash that Trump. Sure, it probably has nothing to do with

- calling all Mexicans rapists and criminals

- denigrating a war hero who gave his body for the country and was permanently disabled because of it, despite lying about why he couldn't personally serve

- bullhorning the unfounded rumor that the country's first biracial president was born in Kenya and not the US

- winking at white supremacists like David Duke ahead of the LA primary by claiming he had never heard of Duke despite leaving the Reform Party partly because of--wait for it!--David Duke

- finding fine people in white supremacists because they support him (Charlottesville)

- took Putin's word over the intelligence agencies that report to him that Russia wasn't to blame for election meddling in 2016

- tweeting that Black women that were born in the US and Illhan Omar (who wasn't) to go back to their country

- openly enriching himself by not divesting in his hotel business

- the constant lying

- trying to steer G8 conference to Mar-A-Lago (see enriching himself above)

- housing the VP in one of his hotels in Ireland, an hotel that was 180 miles away from the actual conference (enriching himself on government's dime; corruption) because apparently Ireland has only one hotel in an 180 mile radius

- lied that the Secret Service staying at his hotels were given a discount when the Secret Service was actually overcharged (more corruption, enrichment with government funds)

- telling a Cabinet member he'd pardon him if Cabinet member broke the law

- calling a virus that first came from China The "Chyna" virus as if microorganisms care about where they emerge from rather than finding the next host

- chose recklessness with handling the coronavirus pandemic which led to the US leading the world in coronavirus deaths

- tried to overturn an election he lost, including calling a Secretary of State to "find" votes

- tried to get the Vice President killed because VP wasn't as venal as he was in overturning the election

- referring to Elaine Chao (who actually served in his administration) on more than one occasion with ethnic slurs because she has a Chinese background

- just this past weekend, tried to attack a potential 2024 Republican opponent by changing opponent's last name (from "Youngkin" to "Young Kin") to suggest his opponent sounds Chinese (that his stupidity is only exceeded by the evil in his heart is a constant theme).

But sure...people just love hating Trump. He's never done anything to deserve it! Like that guy said about Britney Spears years ago, "Leave Trump alone!"

(That was way more than I wanted to type. My initial post was gonna reference Michelle Obama. In no way is that woman subjecting herself to a presidential run).

I agree with you except that the radicalized, hard-core MAGA types will NEVER give up on him. However, a trump presidential campaign will be bad for the country (and the world). If he wins somehow, the US will become a lawless, fascist autocracy. When he loses, his lies of a rigged election will result in civil unrest, violence, bloodshed, and perhaps a constitutional crisis.

All true. If the evil, incompetent, braindead traitor ever had power again, it would be a disaster even worse than the last time the country made the mistake of putting him in the White House.

But that is wildly unlikely to happen. As you very correctly say, the hardcore far-right low-IQ MAGAmaniacs will never give up on him (birds of a feather)...but fortunately some Republican sympathizers have at least a tiny bit of intelligence, and the result of Bunker Boy running will be that it splits the GOP (hopefully to the point where the corrupt party completely crumbles and is gone forever). At the very least, internal dissension will be huge, as Bone Spurs and his former soulmate in Florida snipe at each other. The best chance for the Democrats is for the Republicans to destroy themselves.

It's true that there are some right-wing nutcases (okay, a LOT of right-wing nutcases) who love resorting to violence, but I'm optimistic (or naive?) enough to believe that there are not enough of them to succeed in any attempt to destroy the USA. The last time Trump's adoring right-wing followers committed a treasonous attack, it failed. There thankfully weren't enough traitors and they were all too damned stupid to achieve their goal anyway.

Donald Trump announced his 2024 U.S. presidential campaign, :confused:setting the stage for a potential rematch with President Joe Biden.
But it comes at a time when Trump’s influence within the Republican Party is divided.

JT is indeed very dangerous. I posted all facts but you are not interested. When I say right-wing extremists have their own issues it just means that, I did not want to elaborate on that since the subject was left-wing extremists and it is a very big problem in Canada. From a US perspective it is much less of an issue as Americans tend to lean more to the right. The biggest threat to democracy are extremists, you need to understand that you cannot always bash the right but give the left a pass like I see many on this board do. Whether it be Communism or Fascism, the common denominator in all this authoritarianism. Both style of governments lead to much destruction. I always said it is the state vs the individual. Trudeau is dangerous and so is Trump. Both are no good. Many really do believe there is a difference between the left and right like I see on this board.

Here is an example of right-wing extremism:

Trump wants to give the death penalty to anyone caught selling drugs.

I never understood the conservatives obsession with the war on drugs and alcohol (once upon a time). I am against this. The war on drugs kills more then legalization. Illegal drugs creates the rise of organized crime and gang violence. All victimless crimes should be abolished. Covid mandates were just as destructive, ask how those in NYC lived. My two cents.

Around the corner
When you aren’t a woman, a minority, an asshole, or as you pointed out in a post above, a Disabled Person like Fetterman, the media won’t pay any attention to you as a candidate. Biden wasn’t any of those,
I disagree, Bidet was and is mentally disabled, he has trouble remembering his name and which side of the stage to get off of after every speech, not to mention he can’t string a coherent sentence together even when reading from the teleprompter.

Quite an excellent post.

A few political analysts noted the fundamental similarities between Bernie and Trump.

They feed off of dissatisfaction that is further fueled by media sensationalism brought to us by MSNBC and FOX.

Their supporters are different and there were more politicians on the far left to split the vote. And Bernie could never quite bring himself to support radical feminism. He always seemed to have the sense to want to projectile vomit every time he had to look down the debate stage at Kirsten Gillibrand.

But when Bernie made his years ago and said the government can solve your unhappiness, I thought “Houston We Have a Problem”.

Then not long after that a TV show host, I think the show was called the Apprentice, got the nomination of the other party. At the Convention he listed, exaggerated actually, a long list of problems and said “only I can fix it.” and I thought “Oh Houston, We Have an Even Bigger Problem.”

There is no easy fix. The Trump supporters are the more dangerous of the two groups, mostly because they once had a better position and place vis-a-vis other Americans. They were once solid middle class folks from small towns when America was a factory country with almost everyone being in the Middle Class. When you look at Hoffer’s excellent work on movements, the most dangerous ones come from those who feel they lost prosperity and blame it on some other group or groups. Trump attracted them and fed them. They love him even though he isn’t one of them. Scary stuff.

Bernie just wanted to redistribute the wealth. Old school stuff. Pretty harmless. The rest of the Far Left isn’t as harmless. Whole new vocabularies. Exclusion of genders and races perceived as having been in power too long. Just as bad as Trump. Look at the Women’s marches. And the racial strife that occurred a short time ago. And of course as you point out, the willingness to let government dictate the actions of individuals and more importantly businesses during Covid.

The Left is wrong about government being able to fix problems. But the Trumpists are wrong about him being able to fix the problems. But most importantly, there ain’t that many problems to begin with. Those problems are mostly media sensationalism and its 24 hour news cycle and the fact that no one spends 75 cents for a paper now. The Media gets its money from advertising based on viewership and it only gets viewership through sensationalism and getting like minded people to tune it at one time.

There is no easy way back to the center or to libertarianism, which essentially focuses on the person. Those doctrines are boring. Wonderful, but boring.
At the end the politicians just want to get elected. If creating dissatisfaction gets them elected, they will do exactly that. However I disagree with you about Bernie being harmless. The redistribution of wealth is part of big government and Marxism. Who is better at spending your own money but you? Issue is money is wasted to give the politicians and bureaucrats big pay raises and send it to foreign countries which the money rarely goes to who really needs it. To make unequal things equal is the most unequal thing to do. The far-left just want to keep adding more and more taxes. You cannot tax a nation to prosperity. Look at this way, Mafia were extorting businesses and people, the government is a big mafia extorting everyone with taxes and if you do not pay you get sent to jail. In Canada almost 50% of your earnings goes towards taxes of some sort, this is theft.

In times of war, men are sent for wars because rich politicians are not satisfied and want more money or more power. People go to war and die for these rich people in power.

The right might worship religion, but the left worship the government. As for problems, remember most of the problems are created by the government. Consider this, the government breaks your legs then gives you crutches that are two sizes too small and then they say see without us you would be in big trouble. I do not have anything good to say about the government. The way I see it, the less government the better. The government ruins everything they touch. See in nature, animals live their life, there is no need for a farm. Same principal, people can live without a government just as animals are able to live without a farm.

It is still way too early to know what will happen in the next presidential election, but the first Republican debates will take place on August 23, so things are heating up.

There will be no debates for the Democrats because Biden would not be allowed to use a teleprompter and to know in advance what his opponents would say to him. So that's understandable. :D

Trump is the obvious front-runner but I hope for the sake of the country that De Santis or someone can challenge him. Trump is a loser-he lost his own re-election and the two Senate seats in Georgia. Though I like many of his policies, he carries way too much baggage to be effective again. I don't think can capture enough votes from white suburban women to win. Many of them voted for him in 2016 and then turned against him in 2020. A republican needs those votes to win the presidency.

The Democrats think they can beat Trump with Grandpa Joe (and so they want to run against Trump) and I fear that they are right. Their only worry is that Joe checks out of this life before the election. Then what-Kamala? :D Even Trump could trounce that imbecile.

My preference is De Santis, because he has done a great job governing Florida and that's the kind of person you want as president. I don't give a shit that he signed a law limiting abortions and that he got into a scrap with Disney. These issues can help him as much as hurt him. Nevertheless he needs to focus on the economy, illegal immigration, energy, foreign policy and other more important issues.

De Santis is not perfect but I hope he will perform well on the debate stage against Trump.

Why not Marjory Taylor Green, George Stantos, Lauren Boebert or Kari Lake.
Don't they represent the Republican party in 2023 ?

Yes, Womaniser, those are typical Republicans. They would all be as destructive to the United States as Trump and De Santis. In the entire Republican party, there might be two or three decent human beings but that tiny minority wouldn't stand a chance of representing the GOP in a presidential election. The reason is that the deplorables who support clowns like Donnie, Ronnie and the other GOP jerks have no idea what the true facts are. It's kind of hard to know the truth when you get all your information from rightwing propaganda pushers like Fox.

They are not running but I would vote for any of them instead of Kamala who is effectively running, because Joe will not survive a second term…and maybe not a first term.

Joe must find a way to dump Kamala from the ticket. Besides his own failing mind and body, she is the biggest obstacle to getting a second term. Can't she resign in order "to devote more time to her family?"
