Well, the DNC had a lot of hilites and the Dems are riding a good wave of momentum but I like to use a sports analogy. It's like a heavyweight boxing championship and this was round 1. Lots of great jabs and combinations thrown and the counterpunches were weak and missed but the bell rang and there are still 14 rounds to go.
If I was a Dem strategist, I would likely advise my candidates to now make everything they say about them and their goals and vision and not even mention the name of their opponent. Don't stoop to his level of personal insults despite his ability to constantly say stupid shit and open the door to ridicule. During the DNC, it was okay to get that all out as a rallying message for their own party but now they have to swing the undecided voters to their side. Let him bury himself. A few more comments like the one about the Medal of Honor one and most Americans will start to see him for the buffoon that he is. Sadly, his cult followers are still a large contingent so the Dems have a long road ahead. I do think they have the right candidates but we will see if the morons that vote can actually accept a strong woman from an immigrant background. I think they can and should but it won't be easy, knowing how some people in the U.S. will dig their feet in, no matter what. I also like Walz as her running mate. A nomination acceptance speech is not the time or the place for policy details although she did offer some particulars with respect to women's health and immigration. Rather she introduced herself - in great detail - to the American people who may not have known her life story, she offered her vision for the future of America, and she invited Americans to unite and join her on her journey. She did this all very successfully. As she said "Our nation with this election has a precious, fleeting opportunity to move past the bitterness, cynicism, and devisive battles of the past. A chance to chart a new way forward. Not as members of any one party or faction, but as Americans." I still can't get over the fact Kamala all of a sudden is the savior. Think back a month ago, Joe was fine, Joe was the man, Joe was coherent. I own a company and I'd be pissed if my VP didn't have any input on decisions. If he just stood by and watched me run a failing company. She's awful, just face it. She's just there because the Dems had no choice and didn't have time to go through the normal process. She was a laughing stock back in 2020 and the first one out. Come on. The Dems have a deep bench of highly skilled and experienced talent. When it became clear that Biden could not lead the country for another 4 years, it was time for the next generation of leaders to step up. Biden's VP was the obvious choice considering the tight time frame and her existing campaign organization, but there are several Dems who could have risen to the occasion. VPs are always in the shadow of the POTUS - name one who wasn't. Also there doesn't exist ratings of VPs so that's just right-wing opinion. Having said that you must have forgotten about the less than spectacular Dan Quayle and the corrupt and criminal Spiro Agnew.
