IMHO just save yourself the hassle and close down the whole Politics & Religion forum.
I agree that MERB would be better off without this politics/religion forum. It's hard to completely ban discussions that touch on political questions, but I think it's possible to ban general discussions of purely political topics such as presidential politics, racial politics, tax policy etc. The mods, who deserve a lot of credit for the challenging, unpaid labor that they contribute to MERB, would be relieved of the burdensome task of moderating political discussions.
However, i do think we should be able to discuss the political aspect of questions and controversies directly related to sex, such as the politics of prostitution, laws, policies and behaviors directly related to sex and news stories directly related to sex. There are several such threads in the lounge and I think that they are much less divisive than the purely political threads in this forum.
Let's keep the focus of MERB on sex and get away from all the other topics that tend to divide us rather than unite us. As clients of the sex industry we are already viewed as outcasts by a significant segment of society--so we could certainly use more unity in our ranks. The politics/religion forum serves mainly to divide us. If you want to discuss those things, go to Reddit, Twitter, Facebook or any of a thousand other sites.
