So long as there’s a quarantine, foreign tourism won’t return. Canada is in a tough dillema here, there will be a lot of political pressure to welcome American tourists back first. But medically speaking, it might be safer to allow tourists from China first.

American tourists won't be spending money in Canada for their summer vacations, but on the other hand canadians will spend their vacation in their country as well. So i think economically it would come to about the same.

Yes Jalimon but you must consider also the thousands of Quebecers who spend their vacation money going to Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, Maine etc. And this summer they will stay in Quebec. At the Lacolle border the line-ups are quebecers entering the USA . And when quebecers are coming back. You never have line ups of american tourists.

Canada-US border closed to tourists till at least end July. Typically when borders reopen, the business travellers get priority so summer holidaying in our favorite Canadian city may be a long time coming for non-Canadians. In comparison, European countries seem more eager to open their borders.

"We obviously want families to be together, but our priority remains the safety of Canadians. We will therefore introduce a limited exemption. […]
But I want to be clear. Everyone who enters the country will have to be completely isolated for 14 days, "said the Prime Minister.

I think it's a good idea. We will have to check if people will respect the 14 days.

When I see how the crisis is managed in the USA it reassures me. Luckily, not all governors act as their President.

Probably a good idea. Other than the few Americans On MERB looking to head to Montreal to bang some hot SP’s I don’t see how closing the border a few more months will effect the USA, if at all. Canada, on the other hand stands to loose quite a bit. Also, if Canada opens up to Europe you can keep the border closed another year as far as I’m concerned.
