This is a little different than the usual STD thread. I was diagnosed with Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR), a (hopefully) temporary vision impairment and am posting to see if anyone else has experienced it:

My problems started about six weeks ago when I went to a local restaurant and could not read the menu. It was just a big blur. A week later, another restaurant, and for the second time I was not able to read the menu and had to have it read to me. Also, some legal docket calendars that I have been reading every Tuesday for the past 18 years, which look the same every week, came in one week and I suddenly could not read them. I immediately scheduled an appointment with an opthamologist because I knew something was wrong, as this all came on very suddenly.
The opthamologist tested my vision and told me my left eye was 20/20 but my right eye had substantially worsened from the last test. On the last test I was 20/20 in the left and 20/40 in the right, and now the right was 20/100. He also noticed some unusual changes in my right eye and referred me to a retinal specialist for further examination and testing,
The retinal specialist did some testing and took laser photographs of my retina. Pretty cool and totally painless. Anyway he spotted some fluid collected behind the retina in my right eyeball. He said he believes it to be CSR, and said it should eventually dissipate and my vision restore to what it was. I go back for more laser photographs in 5 weeks to see if the fluid buildup has dissipated. He said if it has not dissipated there could be bleeding of unknown origin and at that point,a fluoricine dye test would be necessary.
Apparently the cause of CSR is unknown but it is common in males ages 20-50 (I am in that age group) and especially in high stress professions. Airline pilots have a very high incidence of CSR.
Just wondering if anyone else experienced this and what the result was.
