I am off topic a bit but, I am the only one not being able to put line breaks in my post? It's so annoying when you try to read a long post and there is no fucking line break, just one big block of text, scaring away many from reading your post. Have some of you had the same problem and if so, did you find a solution? Thanks!

You can also try holding "shift" and press "enter".

By the way this also works when typing on fb messenger.
In that case not holding the shift while hitting enter will send message.

Yes, Chrome has been doing that on other non V-Bulletin forums as well.
And they want to make driverless cards when they can't get browsers right....Madness!!

Not that care for one second — there's nothing of importance in the mails I transmit or get on Merb — but does anyone have a clear and definitive answer to this simple question: is it possible to hack any password in vbulletin?

-1- use separate email... and get a 2nd cell or app #number separate from your civic phone number if used in forum's PM.
-2- hacking password means be able to get it first encrypted in the system like a file or a table in database so means getting it via a vulnerability or an admin access. so Theorically, it is possible then to try to decrypt it.

.

Try switching to the Standard Text Editor under Miscellaneous Options, Message Editor Interface:, in your account settings.

It does work! You are my hero!

For other idiots like me (whose primary jobs for the past 17 years has been starting, founding, staffing, networking... Internet based company...) you actually need to get to the inbox (like sending a PM) to finally see the My Settings options for the board.

Cheers,

I have tried all three settings as EFS has suggested. I am using Google Chrome (as I was prior to the crash) and I still cannot change my font size, color, underline, use boldface or italics.
I've got emoticons out the ass now but I can't use what I need!

I think what you're saying is that the usual text editing options are missing from the text box when you try to post.

I found a couple possible solutions/explanations.

I was told that the empty editor box can happen when the server has a slowdown due to a server update, so when you click edit it's not able to finish the request. That doesn't sound like your problem if it's happening all the time.

Try clicking on the icon that has the two AA's with a red X in front of it, if you can see it in the top left corner of the text editor.

Use another browser. Chrome seems to be the only one with V-Bulletin issues like this. Firefox, Edge, IE and Safari don't have this problem.

As a supporting member I did get a PM from him....sounds like him but who knows???????

I was wondering how folks like me can help (monetarily) support Merb so that we (members) can be assured that the "best" (always evolving) possible security measures are being used. I was thinking about starting a thread seeking Merb members' thoughts on setting up a mechanism (through like Pay Pal, etc.) so that folks like me can donate monies anonymously and securely to Fred Zed. So he can buy the best protection and assistance to keep Merb and his other sites secured, "honest" and useful.

So, EB, when you say, you are a "supporting member", am I to think you are "donating" money to Merb for a good cause. (I doubt FZ is getting rich from hosting Merb and other sites simply based on support from agencies and independents. If he is, more power to him. But a little more support could make us all safer from cyber attackers.) Heck, each time I go to Montreal (for a week for R&R, I spend at least US$6,000; so having Merb help me spend my money wiser in Hobbyland -- I generally budget about C$2,600 for hobby for the 6 or 7 days I'm there).

It took half a dozen attempts but I'm now back on Merb. And I hope FZ is safe and I did change my passwords.

unless I'm mistaken about what you're looking for... you can click on the Forums "Actions -> General Profile" in the grey bar at the top of the forum...

Since we've come back online I can no longer use "reply with quote".
When I try all I get is a dotted circle that keeps going round and round.
Anyone else have this problem?

Seems like there are SSL issues which are causing some problems with how the site is loading certain files. To minimize this, add https:// to the address bar. It won't show as secure as certain images loaded aren't being called via SSL. But at least you'll be able to apply formatting, quotes etc...

Hope this helps
