I have not seen it lately.
It is like Bailey's with an orange twist, it's very good.
It is deceptively potent, you don't notice the alcohol and then you fall off your chair.

I am not sure if it is still made or available in North America. I went to my local liquor warehouse looking for it and their staff told me they haven't seen it in a long time. So I settled for the regular Grand Marnier which I am drinking in a shot glass with Evan William egg nog. I know it's against board rules to drink and post (wolfie got banned after a drunken rant on New Years Eve a few years ago), but I am not at the MERB legal limit yet so this post is legal.

You have better self control than me. I used to drink it right out of the bottle. Yes I had a problem!

Around Montréal...
You are probably all awarded that we can make a very decent homemade Baileys, and it will cost you around 12$ canadian a bottle?

The recipe is really easy to find on internet, and for my part, I just use the low fat ingredients.
If we can just skip some calories in the Holidays, that's always a little beginning.

Dalwinnie suggested already in this thread is a dangerous very little good indulgence.

For another dangerous suggestion good for the Holidays or any other situation that you don't have to drive home after
"The splash & Dash" drink, that consist to take a rock glass, fulling it with ice entirely.
Pour some magnific Hendrick's gin to almost the top.
"Splash" orange juice and "dash" cranberry juice.
And that's it! Enjoy slowly.

By the way, Hendrick's website is a marvelous site, it is really worth to visit! You are going to be amazed. Great work of art!

I need some advice here. I have an office Secret Santa ceremony to buy gifts for. The coworker for whom I am designated Secret Santa is known to be very fond of London style extra dry Gin. Does anyone know of a leading brand they can recommend? I see many varieties but don’t know who is the best known of this style of Gin. Thanks.

I'm not a huge gin fan but I prefer Tanqueray and have tried different ones by that maker over the years. It's nice to drink it neat, with club soda, or use it to spice up a cocktail. Sometimes I add a tinge of Tanqueray to my scotch (various brands) and sip it neat. Tanquerary just has a special, sophisticated aroma and taste. No 10 is nice and the bottle looks cool.

The "original" Tanueray claims to be "London Dry Gin" -- it's not that sweet, more herbal (lovely herbal notes). When you're at liquor store, ask to speak with a gin specialist and he/she can probably provide you better insights. Luckily, unlike scotch, gin isn't insanely expensive -- you could get a great bottle of gin for no more than US$50 (including sales taxes).

My Holiday number 1 drink has actually been Gin/Tonic. I will usually buy Tanqueray or Beefeater... The key is to lots of ice and fresh lime (no lemon!).

For girl I would usually make my version of See Breeze
1½ Parts Vodka
2½ Parts Cranberry Juice
1 Parts Grapefruit Juice
2-3 drops of Couintreau
2-3 drops of fresh lime juice
Shake this in a mixer for 30 seconds and serve on a frozen martini glass and serve your girl... She will make love to you all night!

Thank me later!
Cheers,

jsn,

In the however many months since I posted that I discovered something in the Grand Marnier class of liquors called GranGala. It’s very good at a slightly lower price point. It’s Canadian in origin and blends orange liquer and Italian VSOP brandy. I really like the taste of it a lot and I am no stranger to this category of liquers.

You can get Tanqueray Malacca London Dry Gin. Regular Tanqueray is vodka with juniper added after distillation. London dry has juniper in the distillation process.

Hum but Gin is made primarily of grain as Vodka is made of Potatoes or Soybean, rice or molasse no?

p.s. Adnan Khashoggi weren't' you not murdered not long ago in Turkey? ;)

Khashoggi thanks for the post even from 6 feet under, it’s good to know coffins do not disrupt WiFi.

Jalimon, Tito’s Vodka, which is the best selling vodka at all the local (Connecticut) bars I have polled, is made from corn. Gin must be made from Juniper.

Interesting did not knew Vodka could be made of Corn...
Gin is not made from Juniper. Juniper is added after distillation as ghost Khashoggi wrote.
