This post will discuss travel experience mishaps that can cause loss of discretion, and they have created in my mind rituals to be performed to avoid the loss of discretion.
Back in the good old days when Americans were still allowed to travel into Canada and stay in Canadian hotels, I developed some "rituals" due to experiences or misadventures. One of the rituals was to always observe elevator restrictions and the hotel lobby layout in case I had to go down and meet the girl. Although there are many, many silly, freaked out posts in the silly thread called "SP Friendly Hotels" (which I find ironic because I never stayed in a Montreal hotel- and I probably stayed in most of the decent ones downtown in the last 20 years- that was NOT escort friendly), simple exercise of observing the layout of the hotel would in every instance reveal a discreet place to meet. Most hotels have a lounge on the first or lobby level floor and that usually is the best place.
In the summer of 2002 during Jazz Festival, I had one such misadventure while staying at the Delta Centreville (which no longer exists, but back then was a nice hotel with a superb breakfast buffet that had the best buffet scrambled eggs I ever had in my life). I was seeing Anya of Allissa and Friends. The date had completed, and both of us were laying naked on the bed, the sheets not covering our naked bodies. Suddenly there was a rapid succession of 3 knocks at the door. Before I could even respond, the door flew open and it was a maid. She stared at us naked in our bed for a second. Enormously embarrassed, she said "chocolates- I will come back later! Sorry!" It was a nice customer service the hotel had to leave complimentary chocolates for the guest on the nightstand near the bed, which I did not know about. After that, I NEVER failed to put out the Do Not Disturb sign before a session with an SP.
Another ritual I developed, based on this misadventure which happened due to taking sleeping pills, was to never leave my hotel room in my underwear or wearing less than full appropriate wardrobe:

If I stayed at the old Hyatt which I think is now Doubletree, I would always ask the agency or Indy if they wanted coffee or muffins as well as wine due to the Cafe Depot and other coffee shops that were an elevator ride away at the Complex Desjardins food court.
At the various AirBnBs I stayed at I would always do surveillance on the complex and note the door access codes or proper meeting places if it was entry by electronic fob swipe. I ran into a problem once when an Indy SP I called to an Old Montreal AirBnB with a very confusing doorbell system led to the SP ringing the downstairs neighbor's doorbell. This was my fault because I was still in the shower shaving when she correctly rang my doorbell and I did not hear the ring due to the running water (it was a soft tone doorbell). So the lesson learned there was to be finished in the shower and ready to go 15 minutes before the meeting starts. Normally I am, but was running late that day because my then travelling companion, another hobbyist I was sharing the AirBnB with, had taken a Metro to the Plateau for lunch and then went to Jazz Festival and we were simply running late. I thought I would be able to shower and prep in time, lost track of time and fucked up. It was the only time it ever happened, but led to embarrassment as I am fairly certain the neighbor told our AirBnB host that one of us had seen an escort. The host did not rent to us again. So I then developed the ritual of being out of shower and ready 15 minutes before the doorbell ring.
Confirmation of room number is important, and I always confirm with driver when driver calls pre-appointment. I have had girls get incorrect access codes at AirBnB and, even worse, wrong hotel room numbers. I remember staying at the Hyatt once and the driver said the girl was at my room and I was not answering the knock. I opened the door, saw nobody, and then popped my head out the door and looked down the hall and saw the girl on the other side of the floor, knocking on some other guy's door. Just as I looked at her the other guy was answering his door. I yelled at her, said "hey!!!", she looked down the hall at me, and I waved her down the hall with a motion of the arm. I almost lost her to the other hotel guest, who she was talking to. Which would have sucked because that was Brittany of XXXtase back in 2010 who was smoking hot and in my top 5 all time in Montreal.
