So why take risks?

They are almost never raided. I have more chance getting run over by a car than being arrested at a massage parlor.
I don't blame anyone from being prudent. I just think the freak out we saw here 3 years ago about C-36 is overblown. But that's me and the risks I'm willing to take, and at the end of the day, it's a personal assessment of the situation and a personal decision each one of us hobbyist make.

I never really understood the point of Massage Parlor... Those peoples working there are most than not just regular girls with no special skills in massage or diploma etc. If you want a real massage, there is places for that wich don't involve sexuality. Then if you want sex, you can call an agency...

The only point i see to massage parlors are for lowballers... peoples satisfied with just a "happy finish" and that want to keep it under 120$ or such...

Honestly i feel you get much more mileage for your money seeing a GFE escort... rather than paying "a la carte"

As for newspaper ads... as someone said yeah we are in 2017... who needs that lol

Has anyone seen any client arrest linked to c-36 in Montreal? I have not and I follow the scene as closely as I can. Total arrests: 0. If there was one to come, and there is none, massage parlours would be the last place for it to occur.

This thread originated as a lamenting of the massage scene in Montreal, and I refer to Bushleague's points which are well articulated.
I will add however :eyebrows:

Could be seasonal, or cyclical, but everything evolves, whether we want it to or not. For those, like me, that have been active in the MP ecosystem here in Montreal for a long time, >15 years, perhaps it once felt more open, untamed and that held a particularly strong allure. Or maybe we were just younger, naive and more easily impressed. I agree that there are more crappy parlours that employ crappy attendants "with no special skills". There is a reason for this proliferation and that reason is, essentially, us. If we pay for that shit then expect to see more of the same. I wouldn't go so far as to label anyone "lowballers". If they get what they want at the price they want then who is to judge?? $220 for an incall with a stunning sex-bomb is a great thing! $100 for a massage and finish is also a great thing!

Your definition of 'mileage' may also vary. It's all about expectations. Don't heave your own upon all others who read this forum.

As for this forum, yes, lately it bemoans the swindlers, the bait-and-switch, the rancid hygiene, the clock-watchers, the mechanical finishers . . .and so on. Doesn't mean the industry's gone to shit, just the reporting of it. I for one don't mind at all hearing about the places to avoid. Reviews here (and PMs) have saved me small fortunes. Please also understand, that this board (with the same handful of advertisers, and the same repetitive reviews of the standard top 20 SPs) does not in any way represent the vast ocean of what is actually available. MERB is a narrow window on the scene, not meant to be the "users manual" for hobbying, but a place to convene, respectfully share and maybe/hopefully influence the direction this community takes going forward.

A masseuse told me about one of these inspections. They come about 4-5 at at time for their own protections. They heard all the ladies into one room and then question them one by one in another to determine if they are 1) not underage 2) legal residents of this country. Then the owner has to provide proof that the salon meets code. Including that there is enough hot water in the shower to meet sanitary conditions. ( If several clients have taken showers previously and the water runs cold they are in doodoo ) Ohh yeah, the client is told to remain on the table for the officers safety.

"For their own protection?"   Yeah, right.

The cops come in a group because they want a chance to see some scantily clad sexy girls. A couple years ago I saw a group of 5 cops strut through the Downtown strip club and then linger for awhile while they scoped out the talent. There is no need for more than two cops to inspect places like a massage parlor or a strip club. Furthermore, there is really no need for cops to be inspecting those places at all unless they receive a specific complaint.

I don't respect the police of Montreal. For the last three years (!) the cops have been dressing unprofessionally in their stupid camouflage pants and union hats as a protest to try to extract more money from the city. By dressing like clown cops they have been disrespecting the citizens of Montreal who pay their salaries and fund their expensive pension plans. Even in extreme left wing cities like New York the cops maintain a dignified, professional appearance.

Just because it has not happened yet does not mean it will not happen. It can or may not. Do not take it for granted. This is called selective enforcement. The laws are there and enforcement is done by the municipality. I believe Bill C-36 was more of a deterrent then anything else.

CaptRenault,

That is the power of the police. When they come they come in a large collective unified effort. I always see like ten cops on one guy. Having said that cops are only following orders from their commanding officer and the commanding officer is following the agenda outlined by the politicians. Right now the biggest thing they are looking for is underage prostitutes, drug trafficking, and human trafficking.

Are massage salons much slower these days?

I have notice that in the last 8-12 months that I could call and get appointments with my favorite lady in salons for within 1-2 hours of my time preferred. Has anyone else noticed that salons are slower than before?

One lady at a salon told me that things are very slow at the salons, she also verified that people do not like salons. She told me that when they call and she tells them it is a salon they hang up on her. There seems to be a paranoia of going to salons as opposed to private after c-36 was passed.

between you and "them"
In fact all business are slower including stores,restaurants...There is no more risk in a well run salon than with an independant...in fact as far as safety from being rob, bad service, etc I would say a commercial place is safer. I like salons better for more choices, cleanliness, less chances of deceptive practices. Mind you I only go to well established ,top of the line places...

Duetoday,

Someone needs to kick that dumbass Denis Coderre. That moron is governing like a dictator enforcing family values on everyone. First his stupid pitbull ban. All the experts recommended against it but this moron is still going with it. His wasting millions of dollars to light the Jacques-Cartier bridge... There are surely much better way to spend tax dollars. Coderre is doing all constructions projects at the same time. Some of those projects which I do not see the point of. Lastly and the reason I hate this guy the most is he relentlessness to bust on prostitution in Montreal. Since he came into power mileage at the tity bars dropped by a lot... Many bars got shut down... The ones that burnt down the city is refusing to issue any new nudity permits. He always pledged to shut down all MPs that is nothing new. He thinks he is doing everyone a favor. His only goal is to enforce his own sense of moral values. This guy needs to be booted out. When is the next municipal election?

Yes the economy is very sluggish this is nothing new. Greedy corporations underpaying all their employees and jacking up their prices. On the other hand the government also keeps on jacking up the taxes. Coderre has raised the municipal taxes on many small businesses. This caused some businesses to shut down. Between you and I if it were not for Merb GFE escorts I would not bother with this at all. Backpage and the like is full of scams and bad service. MPs is much better. I think the goal of this dumbass Coderre is to make it inhospitable for clients and sex workers alike to discourage this all together. Coderre did say once that he did not want Montreal to be a sex touristic city. Montreal has no more red light district. It is gone.

Edmonton MPs are just as liberal as Vancouver MPs and in E town the girls are licensed by City of Edmonton, as such they have to go through a EPS background check, so you know the girl you're with doesn't have a criminal record, gives clients there a more-at-ease feeling, and there are some pretty girls in Edmonton MPs

A massage parlor seems very expensive to setup and maintain. They have spas and everything must be clean. Maybe a lot of them are closing because it's too much work and not profitable enough?

Birds, the startup investment is pretty low, much less than 100000$ in most cases. Normal operations will pay that back in 2 or 3 years. Also, you can sell it back at a fraction of the cost if you find someone to someone willing to continue in that line of business. Maintaining is no more no less than with any business. It's true, however, that many close because it's too much work to make it profitable. It's a very competitive market

Birds,

As gugu said starting a MP takes very little investment and is easy hence why there are so many of them. They do not sell alcohool and they are passing as therapeutic places.
