Around the corner
It's easy to constantly bitch and whine about everything without trying to cause meaningful changes to the lives of people around you, or to drastically modify your perspective. Some people actively try to bring the change they want to see or they learn to see beauty in what they dislike.
It is not really about bitching and complaining but the real comparison of what it was like in the 80s and 90s and Montreal is a shadow of those times now.
It is not that Montreal is a horrible place to live, quite the opposite. It still has its European charm and character there are still fabulous restaurants and food and nice parks and attractions. Summer festivals and music and relatively better cost of living than most North American cities. The women are still gorgeous but not nearly as approachable as in the past ( perhaps Toronto is rubbing off on people here lol).

It is just that again I am bringing up European cities where I would not have lived 50 years ago have improved so much and are a better place to live and Montreal has instead declined and even now is not on the path of improving unless you are a bicyclist lol.

How we speak franglais.

I need to make a quick stop at the guichet and get smokes at the dep. Then sit at a terrasse without any bibittes tabarnak.

Trouver un parking pour le char ce weekend va être un challenge.

I may have upset some politicians.

I just think bars and clubs had to get more creative due to rents.

There isnt a night you can't find a place to enjoy people.

That's how I started to dislike this language. It sounds so beautiful in Paris.
With all my respect sometimes you will see a very beautiful well dressed woman and then she will start to speak and you'll sense a genuine threat in her tone of voice, which will completely ruins her charm.

It's funny what you are saying because I have friends living in NYC but like not in Manhattan/in the island. When they say they go to the island it sounds like a trip to another country too!
But for me I don't make a difference lol
Manhattan is just called “The City”. Brooklyn has kinda joined up.
It’s another country.
“The Island” is the “The Guyland” which is Long Island.
Manhattanites used to refer to people from the boroughs (Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, & da Bronx as Bridge & Tunnel people with extra special distaste for New Jersey & Long Island.
Have lived everywhere.
J’aime Montréal.
