Not so recent..but Bad Santa 2....I usually don't stay hooked on a movie after the original one...but holy sh*t...I can't tell which one is the funniest... I recorded on movie channel and showed it to few friends and they are in the exact same situation as I am; not used to like the second part when the first one was awesome...but they truly loved it!!

Look behind you.
Seen Game Night yesterday, quite funny actually. IMO.
Saw the Shape of Water last week, not worthy of the award but good.

Star Wars “The Last Jedi”. Went to watch it a few days ago. Top movie of the year IMHO.

That movie was an insult to Star Wars fans...

Forced Diversity, Feminist agendy, poor treatment of Luke Skywalker, plot holes, poor plot in general (space pursuit at 5 miles per hour wouhou !!) Rian Johnston and Kathleen Kennedy almost ruined Star Wars in one clean swoop. Last Jedi make the prequels look awesome...

On a different note, there so much great movies lately.

Last i saw in theatre was Tomb Raider. I am so happy. Finally a movie that respect the source material !! It does the game justice. Thats rare for video game movies.

Now next is gonna be Pacific Rim Uprising and Ready Player one, both look awesome. If im lucky and have time i may catch a screening of Black Panther too.

I liked the basic plot of Last Jedis. Slow space pursuit's fine by me. But yah, stupid Vice-Admiral Holdo, Poe, Finn & Rose were bad, and Snoke was disappointing. Rather liked the Luke - Rey - Kylo scenes. Let's just say they could have trimmed an hour off, without any addition and maybe some reshoots to not mention the deleted scenes and it's a better movie.

Finally a movie that respect the source material !!

It's always nice when that's the case. My favorite movie is Scott Pilgrim vs the World and that's a banging adaptation of the comics.

I know this thread is for good recommendations, but I just wanted to mention I have seen a few Nick Cage movies recently, two on netflix, dog eat dog and vengeance. The other being a straight to video release called mom and dad. All of them were horrible imho. Nick Cage was in some trouble with Uncle Sam (no not the wonderful xo agency owner, lol) or more specifically the irs since he owed a lot in back taxes. I'm assuming Mr. Cage has probably taken care of these financial issues but unfortunately it's been done at the viewers expense so to speak after all the bombs he's made at the box office he seems to only get straight to video releases these days.

This is unfortunate since Cage was a huge star back in the late 90's (early 2000's) and his career has been spiraling downward for a while now. I really do hope Cage can get back to form again in the future. He does over act the part a lot, but that's what makes Cage who he is, lol.

Face off 2? Or how about a return of Sean Connery to join Cage for The Rock part 2? Lol

That would be awesome!

The prequels were god awful. Say what you want about the Last Jedi, but it's way better than any of those films.

I saw Ready Player One this weekend.

It was a fun adventure movie filled with 80s nostalgia. If you are a fan of the book, be prepared for the massive changes that were required to turn it into a watchable movie. The bones of the characters and premise are there, but a LOT of things were changed.

Gorgeous CGI visuals though.

I've been watching some French movies in order to improve my French and I just watched an awesome one: C.R.A.Z.Y. It's in my top twenty favourite movies (any language). The soundtrack in one of the best of any movie and the acting is so much better than most movies I watch. The story has such charm and humour. I could also really relate to some parts. Next on my list is "La Grande Séduction". I welcome any suggestions for other good French movies (particularly ones from Quebec).

Titilleur, Do you mean the Slapshot with Paul Newman that's dubbed in French or was there a remake?
