The TV show Justified about a state trooper is a great cop tv show on FX that is great, ended recently but still awesome
Justified is actually about a US Marshal, not a state trooper. In any event Hulu recently released a sequel series called Justified: City Primeval. It's one season, 8 episodes. It's actually better than the original series, with a different setting. While the original Justified series is about US Marshals policing fugitives and various other redneck miscreants in a rural Kentucky county, the 8 episode City Primeval sequel takes place In Detroit, and focuses on the hunt for a badass fugitive from Oklahoma, who is extremely well played by Boyd Holbrook. Timothy Olyphant reprises his role as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a highly effective, street smart marshal who is assigned to work with the Detroit police department in locating this dangerous fugitive played by Holbrook. Raylan is a huge headache for his bosses (and the Detroit PD) because of his failure to adhere to just about all protocols, but they put up with him because he closes cases with alarming and stunning effectiveness.

The original series is very good, and there are some very good actors in it, but I think the sequel is even better.

Just saw Furiosa at Banque Scotia IMAX yesterday. Great movie! Not as good as Fury Road, but a great addition to the lore with, again, amazing cinematography, vehicles, car chases and characters.

Watched Godzilla -1 yesterday, just my opinion but too much drama. Not a bad movie at all, great cinematography but not what I expected for a Godzilla movie. They did add English to the movie, did not have to read the subtitles. Just to add, the budget was $15 mil to make the movie, not the $200+ mil Hollywood spends
On Netflix.

Hey guys I saw a really good horror film last night called The Watcher (2022) with well known scream queen, Maika Monroe of "It Follows" Fame. The Watcher is about a woman who moves with her boyfriend to Romania when he takes a new job there. Soon, she begins noticing a man watching her every night from his apartment in the apartment building across the street. The movie soon blurs the lines between what is paranoia, and what is reality, and blurs the lines very very expertly. All of this is also fueled by the boyfriend character and his coworkers. Although initially sympathetic, they soon begin to gaslight the tormented Maika Monroe character, who is led to question her own sanity. Monroe does a fantastic job in the film and is emerging as perhaps the top Scream Queen in the game.

Also just released on streaming is another Maika Monroe film, The Stranger (2024) in which she plays a rideshare driver who picks up a stranger in Beverly Hills, California, and ends up going on a ride that is a 12 hour NIGHTMARE FOR THE AGES. I have read absolutely fantastic reviews on The Stranger, which I hope to watch tonight or this weekend. I am also advised that AI has some role in the plot.

Recently watched "One Love", the biopic on Bob Marley on Paramount+. I loved Bob's music growing up and find his story fascinating but I think, as with most of these, the filmmakers take some dramatic liberties. Funny story about my introduction to Bob Marley. A buddy of mine invited me over one night to hang out because his wife was having a hen party and we popped 3 hits of LSD and he put the "Exodus" album on and we sat and listened to it in the dark. Holy shit, "Natural Mystic" on LSD is something else. Anyway, I digress. Sorry bout that.
Also recently watched "I Am Mother" on Netflix. Kind of a cerebral slow burn but very well made movie. Funny how the new Sci-fi genre is focussing so much on A.I. taking over and seeing all of human being's flaws and inevitable demise and deciding to take matters into their own hands. I guess it kinda started with Terminator but nowadays, there's a lot of movies out that are exploring this.
Yesterday I watched, "The Northman" on Netflix. Kind of a viking mystical tale of revenge with a good amount of blood and guts and gore. Interesting watch.

Trailer above, it seems like this movie was originally written for Quibi in 2020 but released as a film in 2024. Just watched this film tonight. Scream Queen Maika Monroe, Star of "It Follows" and "The Watcher", is back playing a character very, very similar to her character in The Watcher. This is another in a slew of recent films about the horrors of AI/AI run amok, and cyberstalking, but is one of the more imaginative ones that I have seen. It is completely wild, and after you get through watching this movie you will be scared to death of your smartphone. You may even want to chuck it in the St. Lawrence River! I highly recommend.

Yet another great performance by Maika Monroe, who has essentially become a Scream Queen superstar between The Watcher and The Stranger. She is at the top of her game right now.

Dark Matter (2024) (Apple+)

Not sure if this is considered a movie or tv series but it’s 9 episodes long & i found it extremely well made & entertaining. I’m becoming more & more a fan of Joel Edgerton’s work & this one doesn’t disappoint. Co-stars Jennifer Connelly who’s good in everything she appears in. I’ve become quite a fan of series produced by Apple+ like Silo, the Morning Show, Constellation & now the surprisingly very good Presumed Innocent.

i am a sci fi buff with a hudge collection and this is 1 of my favourites
only thing i dont understand is why the hell did he not want to bang Alice Braga
loved her in the series queen of the south
Jason #2 was banging her in his own reality before he decided to cross over in Jason #1’s reality in order to take over his life after regretting abandoning the Jennifer Connelly character in order to pursue his personal ambitions.

Just watched Longlegs a couple hours ago. Without a doubt, one of the best American horror movies I've seen in a while. And one of the few I'd rewatch instantly.
Maika Monroe and Nicholas Cage both star in it. Maika gave really outstanding performances in The Watcher and in The Stranger. She is THE scream queen now.......except she doesn't seem to be playing one in Longlegs.
