Where to Invade Next

I bought this great movie the other day. Great purchase! I've loved every single Michael Moore movie and this one doesn't disappoint. It should be a must-see movie for every American!

He visits various countries around the world and tries to learn great ideas (education, nutrition, prison system, etc) which he could bring back to the States in order to make it a better place to live. My favorite country to live in would be Italy, among many others.

p.s. I was surprised to learn that so many Americans don't have paid vacation days like the rest of the western civilized countries. I was also surprised to learn that college and university education actually is free in many other countries. I was also shocked to learn that 61% of the taxes an American pays go directly to the Military. Wow!

Wolf of Wall Street. Saw It very recently for the first time. I wouldn't call it a favorite, but I've never seen anything so crazy/mind-blowing. Take the most perverted porn film you could conceive and I don't think it's half as insane as this movie.

Star Trek Beyond....probably the best Star Trek film since either ST: First Contact, or even ST VI: The Undiscovered Country. It really had that original series flavor to it, which is great for the 50th anniversary. Definitely my favorite film of the year, so far.

Have any of you guys seen the new Jason Bourne film which just came out today?

EB: Saw it yesterday. Good as usual with lot of action as usual. I think there will be another Bourne movie. This thing is not over yet. The director kept the door open for another me think .... . It was actually a preview yesterday but today is the release .... .

The new Ben-Hur.

1. Poorly written. Basically a severely chopped version of the monumental classic.

2. The cast was okay but not well suited to their roles, at least as directed.

3. Some very key scenes were rewritten with much inferior outcomes.

4. The dynamic tensions between the two key figures did not work very well.

5. The handling of the Christ figure was very superficial.

6. The race scene looked very good but the writing was questionable.

7. The last scene was not believable at all.

***Sorry but though the scenery looked very good the writers and directors took out the heart, soul, and the magic.

I saw the new Jason Bourne movie and enjoyed it. There is a car chase scene in Las Vegas towards the end of the movie in which they wreck about 200 cars, mainly parked cars that are being smashed into by two racing cars. The car wreck count is higher than the body count in a Jurassic Park film. The scene was pretty good and the movie does end in such a way that a sequel is set up with a new cast of conspirators headlined by Alicia Vikander's character. This movie also reveals a bit more about Jason Bourne's past identity and persona than the prior films. Overall it was a highly satisfying installment in the Jason Bourne franchise, as good as its predecessors.

Regarding all the wrecked cars who pays for all of that damage? Are those cars salvaged and rebuilt so they can be wrecked again in another movie? I am kind of curious now about the movie car wreck process and who makes money off it other than the stuntmen and stuntwomen.

Deadpool. Beyond excellent, from the first frame of the movie (during the credits), to the last (post credits).

Deadpool asks why he only sees two X-Men, is it because the producers couldn't afford any more?

This was a labour of love for the producers, and they made fun of themselves.

The other day i spent the afternoon at the movies. First i saw "Don't Breathe", an horror/suspense type of movie which has been getting decent reviews. I then decided to stay at the movie theatre and saw "The Mechanic: Resurrection".

I enjoyed both movies. But i was surprised at how much i enjoyed the second movie. I may have actually enjoyed it more than the other movie, which was the movie i been planning to watch all along that day. Over the years, i've slowly become a fan of Jason Statham. Although i've never went out of my way to watch one of his movies, they are always fun to watch. This one didn't disappoint and it co-stars Jessica Alba.

By the way, Stephen Lang portrays the main character in "Don't Breathe" and he puts on a heck of a performance as a blind war veteran whose home gets invaded by three young adults.

The other night i decided to check out what had just come out on Netflix and decided to watch this:

The Art of the Deal: The Movie

I didn't even know they had made a movie about his silly book which was actually written by a ghost writer. I must admit that the movie was enjoyable to watch and kudos to the actor portraying the main character, a well-known NY con man sleazeball.

I just finished watching this documentary and it was great! It was one of the first documentaries to come out of the great 30 for 30 series produced by ESPN:

Small Potatoes: Who Killed the USFL?

Want the answer to the movie's title: DONALD J. TRUMP.

What a selfish, self-serving narcisist asshole!!!

Sully

I saw Sully this afternoon- another well done film by the 86 year old Clint Eastwood, about the 2009 "Miracle On The Hudson" crash landing of a US Airways jet in the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey after a bird strike. The central conflict explored in the movie is between the NTSB investigators who initially conclude that the jet could have been safely landed in either Laguardia Airport in New York or Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, and pilot Chelsey "Sully" Sullneberger, who tells the NTSB that there was no way he was going to make it to either airport with two failed engines, low altitude (2800 feet) and insufficient airspeed. Eventually the evidence surfaces that Sully is right, he emerges as a hero and the rest is now part of aviation history.

An interesting aspect of the movie is dramatic computer simulations staged by the NTSB which show the jet could have been landed at either airport - but only if the pilot in the simulation reacted immediately without any time for deliberation or reading of manuals, as is pointed out by Sully.

Another interesting aspect of the film is that the cinematography, which is excellent, manages to make New York City a character in the movie.

Tom Hanks is very good as Sully and the rest of the cast of the film is also very good. I would give the movie an A-
