Fandango: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Becomes Company’s Top Family Pre-Seller of All Time

LOS ANGELES – MARCH 14, 2017 – Prior to its opening this Friday, Disney’s live-action “Beauty and the Beast” has already set a new record as Fandango’s #1 family pre-seller of all time, with “Beauty” pre-sales (through Monday night) already eclipsing total pre-sales for any other family film in Fandango’s 17-year history.

“Beauty” is outpacing the previous family pre-seller champ, “Finding Dory,” and superhero movies like “Captain America: Civil War,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” at the same point in the Fandango sales cycle.

“Beauty” is also scoring a rare 99 out of 100 points on Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation, and is easily beating the monstrous March box office hits, “Kong: Skull Island” and “Logan,” in this weekend’s sales.

“The anticipation to see Emma Watson as ‘Beauty’ is sky high,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “This weekend will see a perfect storm of family audiences, date night audiences and old and new friends gathering en masse at the multiplex to see one of the year’s most anticipated movies.”

According to a Fandango survey of more than 1,000 “Beauty and the Beast” moviegoers:

95% have seen the original animated classic; 68% own it at home.
84% have been Emma Watson fans since her “Harry Potter” days.
52% say the new songs by Alan Menken & Tim Rice increased their interest in the movie.
44% will see the movie with their families; 43% will see the film with a date, significant other or friend.

The new Wonder Woman. The actress who played her in Captain America (I think) is Hot!

Montreal, of course
For me, DUNE. Also from Villeneuve. The one from Lynch was quite bad, IMHO. And the mini-series from a few years back lacked scope.

Oh ouiiiiii! Can't wait for deadpool 2 if the movie is as good as the trailer. .Saw the Lion and a great movie!

Lion was a great movie, but it was so sad (especially after you find out why all of that happened in the first place). Don't think I could watch it a second time.

Don’t usually look forward to new movies. Unless they are remakes or sequels of old movies. Those I really like . Nostalgia I guess. Although I must admit that many times they end up being a bit of a disappointment. Blade runner was a bit of a letdown . Loved the actors but no way did it come close to the original.
Myself I’m a big fan of Frank Herbert’s DUNE so naturally I’m looking forward to Villeneuve’s remake. It’s true that many people hated Lynch’s movie . Personally I thought it was ok . Don’t know if Villeneuve’s version will be better but he has assembled an impressive cast so it’s got a good chance.
Next one I wouldn’t mind seeing is Top Gun the sequel.
Who doesn’t want to see Maverick and Iceman back at it again. Tom Cruise doesn’t really look that different. Dude has aged well. He’s got good genes. Can’t say the same about Val Kilmer unfortunately.

But both these upcoming movies aren’t due till 2020 .
And since I don’t like any of the other new movies coming out the only thing I will be watching anytime soon will be playoff hockey and basketball on tv all the while having a few buds and contemplating life and the universe and whether in the end Jon Snow lives or dies . Cheers

And not a movie but...

Game of Thrones (all expisodes not yet released lol)

I am a huge fan of Star Wars but "The Last Jedi" has completely killed any hype i had in this trilogy. Thanksfully its JJ that is back, and not Johnson, but its like Johnson put Star Wars on the ground, stomp on it multiple time, ended it back to JJ and said "have fun fixing it"

I am "hoping" JJ can do something with it and make a decent movie, but i don't get my hopes too high and no matter if episode 9 is indeed good or not, ill always have to watch this "trilogy" skipping Ep8 cause its a complete mess than undo every interesting aspect that was made in 7.

The Irishman is what I'm really looking forward to seeing this summer. Possibly the last chance to catch Deniro and Pacino in a movie together. Joe Pesci came out of retirement to do this movie.

"The Last Jedi" left many fans with mixed feelings, but with J.J. Abrams back at the helm, there's hope for a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. I'm personally looking forward to seeing how the story wraps up in Episode 9.
And if you're a Game of Thrones fan, you're in for quite a ride with the remaining episodes. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions in Westeros, and we can't wait to see how it all ends.
If you're ever in the mood for something different, checking out new releases movies is a fantastic way to discover hidden gems and exciting stories.
