Where are some good breakfast restaurants in MTL?

More like this. They are usually very thick and fluffy / soft. I don’t recall any kind of syrup (definitely no soy sauce) on them. It was mainly some sugar powder and fruits. It’s been over a decade since I had them in Japan.
That picture clearly shows some kind of syrup on them which could be maple, soy, or other

Like this?
Even that pic shows some syrup being poured on it. Or this:

I didn't post it for you. I posted for others reading this thread because American pancakes are not known at many or most Montreal restaurants and they will try to make the above with crepe batter, which is not possible. This post was for them.

I've been to many restaurants that had pancakes, not crepes. The vast majority of people here know the difference between a crepe and a pancake. This is almost condescending.

Not based on my experience in Montreal as I already said multiple times. I had pancakes made from crepe batter and paid for the meal. That was in Le Plateau. Chez Cora offered to make me pancakes from crepe batter and I said no. It's absolutely ridiculous and condescending to even suggest that!!!!

In fact even downtown there was only one restaurant I could find that served pancakes. It was on south side of St. Catherine between Peel and Stanley on the south side and did bang business between 2002-2017. Whether it's still there I don't know but it was the ONLY place in Montreal I ever ate pancakes due to not being able to find them on menus. Or get anyone to make them out of the correct batter. L'Avenue certainly didn't have them and none of the places like that would. They offered to make it out of crepe batter same as Chez Cora. No thanks!!!!'

The one thing that downtown NYC & Toronto have over Montreal is American style breakfast diners.

For example, Golden Diner in Toronto.
Montreal has nothing like this!!

You are the one who mentioned Greenspot? I thought it was the closest thing. Also, all smoked meat joints look like this.

But, why are you all trying to bring your American things to Montreal? We are not an "American" city, and that's why you love this city so much.

L’oeufrier ( look at their menu) as mentioned by LC18 has many locations all over Montreal and they have a variety of pancakes.
They also have many other breakfast options.
My mom actually loved IHOP pancakes but she loved anything that you could pour maple syrup over. I preferred their humongous omelettes.

Did anyone ever try the English breakfast at Burgundy Lion on Notre Dame?
Last ate here 10 years ago. That breakfast features the fattiest bacon I ever tasted. Not that any bacon is lean, but that slab bacon takes it to another level.

I amended my post above to note that breakfast which I last had 10 years ago. I ignored the ketchup, which one is free to do. If you can't ignore it, you can also drop it in the garbage en route to the restroom.
