Which grill do you use?

Not looking for cheap and portable. Looking for good and durable outdoor grills that can weather salt in the air as I live near salt water and it erodes my grills faster than you dudes in Montreal, which is far away from the ocean. Cheap and portable doesn't cut it here.

My Weber propane barbeque is 8 years old,so far I have only had to change the battery in the igniter .

NEED TIPS ON A NEW GRILL- WHAT MAKE AND MODEL DO YOU GUYS LIKE???

It looks like the end of the road for my Weber Spirit E-210 gas grill, which is why I am now I am in the market for a new grill. I purchased the Weber in July of 2015 for $500 so it is now 7 years old. Yesterday I attempted to grill some lamb shish kebab. I observed that although my 20 lb. propane tank is 80% full, the flames coming out of the burner were very small and the grill was not heating beyond 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Usually it heats to over 550 degrees in 12 minutes, but now it's not going past 350. I had to cook the lamb on the grill on the low heat for over 15 minutes before it was cooked!!!! Usually I cook it on a very high heat 3.5 minutes each side and it is done. I am not sure what is wrong, but I believe the burners are corroded or rusted and the gas isn't being delivered like it should be. In any event I do not feel like I am owed anything by this grill, and want to move on.
have you been maintaining them over the years? If you buy a new one, you might end up with the same problem after 5 years or so. I take mine apart once a year and clean the parts (flavorizor bar, burners, bbq box, etc). My genesis is only 2 years old and I am hoping to have it around another 15 years.

If you're set on a new bbq, maybe you want to consider charcoal bbq. Kamado were on sale at costco recently.

Funny you should mention that. Yesterday, I removed the grates, burner covers and cleaned the entire grill with a vacuum cleaner, washed the grates and burner covers in dishwasher, reassembled and suddenly it's working normally again. Perhaps I will get a few more years out of it after all. But probably not much more as its got heavy usage wear and tear.

I have no idea what the issue was but when I cleaned it out and ignited I could see the flames come out of the burner normally. They were not coming out normally previously.

I am far from a clean freak, but I take care of my things, especially my bbq… I eat food that’s coming out of it after all. Also, if there is build up of grease/etc, you might have flares up and a harder time to control your cooking.

you probably had grease build up around your burners from over the years. I use mine 3-4 times/week in the spring/summer, in the winter when it’s not too freakin cold. So decent usage too, and deep clean it once a year. If you do that, you can probably stretch it another 10 years easy

It's good advice but stretching it another 10 years is very unlikely. I live near the ocean and the air is full of salt which I have learned over the years is very harsh on grills whether you cover them or not. The salt is in the air and it erodes the grill.

Nothing last long when living near the ocean, not even relationships! :D

You can always use wood for flavour if charcoal scares you

I prefer charcoal/wood bbq, but I am too lazy to use them, gaz is fast. I chose convenience

Air pollution is the biggest killer when it comes to cancer. Besides that any friggin thing we touch, eat, drink, look at etc. has at least 1 research saying it can increase cancer risks, that being said, I'm not planning to live forever.

As for carbon monoxyde is there anyone stupid enough to use a charcoal grill indoors? Is so, maybe its just part of a natural species selection process.

If you have the grill in an enclosure outdoors, you have to remember carbon monoxide is heavier than air and sinks. It's also odorless. What this means is if the air is stagnant and the wind isn't blowing, you will likely see your dog and 5 year old kid pass out before you do. These kinds of accidents do happen from time to time. I have a carbon monoxide detector in my bedroom, and I plugged it in to an outlet about 18 inches off the floor because my bed is above that level. Therefore the alarm will sound before the carbon monoxide level rises in the room to a level where I can breathe it.

Replacement parts for your Webber are easy to get from their website. I have had my Webber for 24 years so far have replaced flavor bars grate and burners once 6 years ago. The grill resides on my uncovered deck year round.

I’m curious, how many BBQ have you purchased in the last 10 years? I feel like they’re designed to last 3-4 years (and i take good care but leave it in the shed during winter). Looks like it’s a big scam when you buy one in CDN Tire, Rona or big renovation center ... can’t find decent replacement parts (that fits) and the warranties are just shit. I wonder if it is any different if you invest couple of hundreds more for a Napoleon or Weber ?

Weber is definitely worth the money just make sure to buy a good one not a store brand Weber. Traegar and big green eggs are also good grills/ smokers
