If the Sox don't do it this year, all their players should start playing ice hockey... wiht the exception of Pedro and Shilling who will deserve a rest.
May be EB could hire one or two to serve as factotum!

Not so fast. Houston beat the pants off of Atlanta. No more chop in the NL series or World Series. That's something to celebrate.

Although John Smoltz deserves better. Probably one of the best all-around pitchers baseball has ever seen. In a recent interview he laments on how he seasons always seem to end with a loss.

Maybe the Yankees can trade for him before 8pm tonight?

Red Sox Lied To Us

It has now been revealed, as I previously stated, that the Red Sox lied about Schilling who in fact has a torn tendon that must be surgeried.

I hate to say I told you so but look at my comments earlier in this thread about Schilling not being 100%, the Red Sox not coming clean (ever) and Schilling getting whacked if he is slightly off with his command due to health.

Now that being said, I must concede that Kevin Brown and El Duque are huge question marks in games 3 and 4 because of their aching bodies, meaning the Yankees really need to win game 2 tonight or they could be in trouble.

Schilling Injury

Actually, I heard Dr. Bill Morgan state that the injury was sustained in the Angels series, so the Red Sox presumably knew this when they decided to start Schilling in game 1.

I can breath

I just got finished holding my breath for 3+ hours.

BTW, the type of injury Shilling has is usually the result of prolonged stress on the tendon. Pushing off on that leg all season, not to mention year after year, takes it's toll on a body.

We're not getting any younger boys and girls.

I always thought the worst day in Yankees history was when Thurman Munson was killed.

Seasons come and go but a wife lost a husband and kids lost a father.

Keep this in mind; if Boston fails to win the Series they'll be hearing the "1918" chant again next year.

Go Cards!!!!

ps. The Yankees downhill slide began when they got rid of Tino Martinez in favor of Jason "I Got Steroid Tumors" Giambi.

pps. I do give mad props to Franconia...truely one of the class acts in baseball

Special K,

I correctly predicted the result that happened. See my post earlier in this thread BEFORE THE SERIES started.

Too bad I did not bet some of your cash because we would both be rich.

In the final analysis, the Red Sox won because their pitching was better. Mariano Rivera blowing saves in games 4 and 5 was a big disappointment but I believe I also told you before the series started that Mo had problems with his command for the last 5-6 weeks of the regular season and it spilled over into the playoffs.

I believe the Yankees will do what is necessary to improve their pitching, but I am not sure what is out there. I have heard Matt Clement of the Cubs is a free agent, other than that not sure what else is available. It was the same problem last year for the Yankees. The fact is that you simply can't snap your fingers and get quality starting pitching. It is in very short supply.

It was a crazy night, around New England, there were riots all over the place from VT to boston. I think Bush will have to start up the draft just to keep boston safe if the sox win.

Hey Kracker, the curse is on the World Series. This will be even funnier if the Red Sox blow it against the Cardinals. I don't think Boston has a chance against St. Louis. Cardinals in 6 games, most of them easy games.
