I don't understand why everyone hates A-Rod? He spent most of his career with the Texas Rangers, and is with the Yankees for one season. He did not have a bad season (36 HR, 106 RBI, .286 BA). He switched from shortstop to third. I am a transplanted Yankees fan, and I do not think the Yankees would have beaten the Cardinals this year even if the Yankees won the 4th game as they should have. Good luck to the Red Sox, but the team to beat is not the Yankees, but the Cardinals. Houston was very hot and almost beat the Cardinals. The Red Sox have been playing very inconsistently, just as the Yankees, and it is hard for me to believe that they will win this series.

Red Sox-Cards

Daydreamer,

I agree with your analysis, although remember the Red Sox have home field advantage because the AL won the All Star game, and the home field in these two cities means a lot.

You can thank Roger Clement for your home field advantage. He got shelled in the first inning of the All Star game and the NL never was able to come back.

Pay-rod is a whiner and a cry baby. He whined his way out of Seattle and he whined his way out of Texas.

He also showed in Game 6 that, despite all his skills, he is not above taking a cheap shot.

He is also an outspoken supporter of George Bush, perhaps the worst of his crimes.

Gee Regnad, what would you say about A-Rod if the Red Sox did get him. Don't you remember? The Red Sox wanted to bahhhrgen (bargain in English) for A-Rod and the Labor Union said "No." Imagine that - Capitalism in New England trying to bargain for a cry baby whining player. Wait to next year when the Yankees are even better and they beat the defending American League champions (noticed I did not say defending World Champions).

Yankees Improvement

The Yankees have blown away all local sports teams in news coverage even in defeat. Though the Jets are 5-0, the NY papers and talk shows have been discussing Yankees offseason moves. Among the prominent moves being discussed is the signing of Carlos Beltran and at least one or two starting pitchers including possibly Carl Pavano, Matt Clement, Matt Morris, or even Pedro Martinez or Derek Lowe who are all free agents. The bullpen is also likely to be bolstered with a reliable left hander.

If Beltran is signed Bernie will move to DH, full time, in what will be an even more devastating lineup next year. The Red Sox better enjoy it because they are going down next year.

It has been proven once again that you can't buy a world series championship.

George Steinbrenner is a compulsive spender. He spends lots of money on big name older veterans like Gary Sheffield, Jason Giambi, Kevin Brown, Ken Loftus. Sheffield was the best of the lot, but he may have 5 seasons left at best. The others may have not been good acquisitions or trades. I think his GM will talk him into getting younger stars. Also, the Yankees have drawn 3.7 million fans during the season. They are consistently in the playoffs. Steinbrenner has not lost money. He will spend more and the Yankees will win World Series championships in the future, and his business will be in the black, because the New York area has a lot of people, money and the market to support his spending.
