Thread: Should we change the board's name to MEGB?

Should we change the board's name to MEGB?

Is it just me or should we change the board's name to Montreal Escort Gossip Board? The board seems to have very little to do with either escort, mp, or stripper/sc reviews these days and more about personal attacks and old woman style gossip. And I'm including myself in this as I haven't been getting out to the clubs and posting any reviews either.

But with all the fascination and gossip about whether Celine is still in or out of the business, constant references to posters who are no longer on the board and will not reply, the loss of senior posters, the lack of reviews, some posters totally losing it and going postal against other posters, multiple handled stalkers in Cleo's, I'm really starting to wonder about things.

    Maybe it's the weather.

    Techman,

Gossip is endemic to this biz. People love to talk, myself included, albeit to a much lesser extent. But the truth is that things are way out of control. I am on these boards now more out of boredom. You are right about one thing: who cares about Celine? I can guarantee you she does not give a rat's ass about any of us. Also, why does a certain hobbyist keep harping on another who refuses to post any longer?

One thing I realized is that things will not change on these boards and like other boards (think stock boards), they are always at the mercy of mediocre posters. It's no wonder that most guys lurk here, refusing to post. Maybe they're the intellgent ones and I am the idiot for contributing here.

    Great post!

As for the constant references to posters who are no longer on the board and will not reply, i'm in agreement with you. It's getting old & the people doing it are only damaging themselves & making themselves look kind of childish & its very difficult to give them credibility. I'm beginning to wonder if people with an ax to grind will still be talking about me 10 years after i've disappeared from the boards. Let's face it....none of us will spend the rest of our lifetime on these boards. We'll all eventually 'get a life' & move on. But will people still make references to us hoping someone tells us about it & then hope they'll come back & make a post? Hope not. But i guess it'd be good, in a way. It would show me that i've touched some people who legitimately miss me & they're hurting big time, even though they'd make it appear like they're taking shots at me.

    Techman,

Suspecting that I might just be one of the senior posters to whom you're referring, I thought I'd break my silence and reply. Yes, the board has become a gossip and rumour mill, but it's more than that to explain my absence.

Over the past year or so one relatively new deeply disturbed poster has, in large part, turned this board into his personal psychiatrist's couch. I've, quite frankly, grown quite weary, generally, of his projection of his own neuroses on the general populace here and, specifically, of his repeated attacks on me. Having little need for all this, I've chosen to withdraw.

The second reason that I've chosen to no longer participate in this board is the fact that, possibly in reaction to the aforementioned poster's behavior, board moderation here has gotten quite heavy handed. While I quite well respect the fact that moderating this board is a time-consuming and thankless task, it seems to me that banning a poster, not for anything he's done but for what he thinks, is going well beyond the pale. Ziggy Montana, certainly one of the board's more articulate and entertaining posters, was recently banned for having said that he despises this board, not for anything he did or anything he posted here. (While I can in no way justify Ziggy's creation of more than a few handles designed to insult the moderators, these came after the banning of his Asthmatic Dragon handle, which, by the way, was not a duplicate as he'd previously requested the deletion of Ziggy and Ziggy's posts, just as I'd requested the removal of my prior handle and all its posts.)

This board has become a whole lot less fun and, like hobbying, if it's not fun, why bother?

    rumpleforskiin,

The reasons Ziggy was banned are mentioned in this post. He was banned because of his behavior here on the board. The fact he despises the board and its moderators didn`t cause him to be banned in the first place, but let`s just say we had less second thoughts in doing so.

Ziggy and I have opened a communication channel yesterday, and hopefully we`ll be able to resolve this situation. In the meantime, I strongly suggest you and everyone else stay out of it.

Regarding the gossiping and personal attacks on the boards, with more than 6500 new posts per month it`s not always easy to keep track of everything. If you feel a situation is not being handled the way it should be, please PM us and give us your opinion. As I wrote to someone recently, all we want is respect, not only toward the Mods but for all members toward other members.

    Thanks for reading.

    "yes" bdc actually speaks

Personally after a year and a half to 2yrs, I've gotten board with the boards. It's nothing personal against the boards, the Mods or any posters in particular, it's that the gossup, flaming wars, debates and etc has become so repetitive that I've gotten board. I do read from time to time and might contribute intermitantly, but I've found my activity has droped way off and for a few reasons outside thus set reasons persuad above.

I'm now taking french courses full time, I'm working at at the YMCA, I'm involved in a homebase business, I'm hanging out more with friends, I'm not hunting for SWs, MPs or SPs has this has become so repeatitave as well and find myself turning a new leaf in my life. This is not to say that I'm against hobbying, it's just that I'm involved in more important things right now.

Good luck to all of you.

Coincidentally, CBC/Radio was playing Ravel's Boléro minutes ago, an epitome of repetition where, in a nutshell, the same sequence of two very similar themes are repeated without any rythmic or harmonic variations. Yet, there's something fascinating about this repeated sequence of themes: it is not only repeated, it is repeated insistently. From it's earliest occurence with the flute, it seems like we've been there before, like it's already repeating something - something essential I would add - linked to an immemorial past though unheard before. It's weird but, listening to Boléro doesn't feel repetitive: each repetition seems to work like "it's heard for the first time", like it's some confirmation, each time more insisting, of this "something essential"... Does this impression result from the work of the composer or from the listener being particularly well-disposed? I'm inclined to believe that there's a subtle interaction between both and that Ravel was aware of that while composing his masterpiece.

Recurring dealings with sexworkers are endemically repetitive. When the repetition feels repetitive and not, each time, like the confirmation of something essential, maybe then the whole concept of dealing with sexworkers lacks of genius. Instead of a Boléro, you get - say - Dance music, always repetitive and often boring.

I think, I think ... To keep this hobby exciting beyond the first few experiences, one needs inspiration and that it helps a great deal not to expect that the hobby itself will provide such inspiration.

This is a bit off-topic, but supposedly one of the really difficult things about conducting Bolero is ensuring that you do not speed up the tempo as you approach the orgasmic end; it is supposed to stay the same all through.

With the way people leave 'forever' and then come back maybe it should be the Montreal Escort Return Board?

Most people don't go on line so they can show how good their manners are. The Internet is a place where the timid can act like jerks without facing the normal consequences of jerky behavior.

Another factor to be considered. After years of reading MERB, The Bleeding Dinosaur, and a third message board -- and after meeting a few hobbyists -- I'd say escort clients are quite often childish and weak, with personalities that range from the merely spoiled to the painfully neurotic.

Put the two factors together and I think it's amazing MERB manages to be as good as it is. True, most of the posts are pretty damn stupid. But a minority of MERBites do hang in there, writing decent reviews or (which is also good) taking part in discussions without acting like flaming jackasses.

Most of the posters, of course, don't write reviews and do behave like flaming jackasses. That's why reading MERB is always going to be an irritating and frustrating experience. But the stupidity is part of the show. As long as a trickle of worthwhile posts is coming in, the combination will make this site worthwhile.

It helps that the moderation here is so good, leagues away more grown-up and professional than what I was used to at The Bleeding Dinosaur and the other board.

But what it comes down to, for me, is that after years of reading escprt boards, I wouldn't say MERB now is a whole lot worse than it ever was, and it is definitely better than the other boards I've spent time on.

    My 2 cents.

I'm not timid, nor a jerk, just an asshole. On the boards and in real life to those that I could give a s**t about. To the others I'd give the shirt off my back and the last dime in my wallet....

    Talking Forget bashers!!!

I read something interesting on stock bashers:

    http://www.novakcapital.com/bashers.htm

    Here is the important part:

NEVER ENGAGE A STOCK BASHER; if you do so then YOU BECOME THE BASHER'S AID!

Read the news, do your own homework and make your own decisions. Get real time quotes and follow the stock for a couple of weeks. Due Diligence is key here. Know that there will be a time when the stock runs up which will be followed by the Bashers and those that missed the boat. The bashers will trash the stock by saying such things as "it's a Pump and Dump" and "the company is lying" and deceiving. There goal is to scare off newbies and potential new investors by "shaking" you out of your shares. Take the time to confirm your Due Diligence, ,trust your own judgment and believe in yourself, pick your point of return or loss and live with it. Don't listen to hype or bashers and live by the rules you have created.

Makes a big difference , when you meet the other posters , or even expect to meet them , face to face.
Depends whether I give a s**t about you or not, doesn't it?

Only someone of Ollie's height can meet me face to face.
