Well I am not going to sum it all up... You can read the links I provided all details are in it. In short if this bill is passed all internet porn is going to disappear including OnlyFans. What is more is all those SWs advertising on Twitter or other sites will probably be deplatformed and disappear. America has got this war against prostitution. This is a direct retaliation against SWs and NSFW content creators and their ability to earn a living independently. SISEA is a direct attempt to end all sex work and to ban SWs and NSFW content creators and artitst from ever existing. Weird country. So glad I live in Canada.

Sex workers don’t want it, clients don’t want it, agencies certainly don’t want it...so who wants it? The bill sounds good - it protects vulnerable prostitutes forced into the trade from cruel and violent John’s, and the law will certainly put an end to human trafficking across the state. These escorts driving up 5th avenue in BMW’s on their way to their Upper East Side condos need protected from guys like us. The media will go along with it, and any male politician voting against it will be scorned. We live in crazy times. I’m not as optimistic as you. Do you really think the state legislature really cares what sex workers have to say when they get to milk this bill in media and re-election ads?

It would take NYC Police to weigh in to stop passage, and they’re frustrated and out of juice. Would LE ignore the law? I don’t know., but the law being on the books should make one more fearful. It takes one sting operation to really get guys paranoid.

In this environment it is not politically correct for NYC LE to make major brothel busts and arrest sex workers. If you remove arresting sex workers from the equation - especially those who are undocumented - then you might be giving LE ammo to take a more aggressive stand against brothels and clients.

I hope you’re right, Patron. While I’m not as optimistic as you, maybe this bill will die on the vine. Perhaps we’ll not hear much about it anymore.

However, I do think we might see LE harassment of agencies IF the law passes if for nothing more than to make a statement, particularly on Long Island or boroughs like Queens. And it’s the agency business in NYC that keeps most guys happy with the $300/hour offerings compared to the $800/hour independents. If agencies are more at risk, that would really put a damper on hobbying. We shall see...

But my point is that politics and culture are much different now. Politicians don’t care about safety or what is in the best interest of escorts or even society for that matter. It’s about what sounds good, makes news and fits the “rescuing the victim” narrative. Don’t expect logical solutions, especially in NY

Not even. We are witnessing the rise of prohibition much like what we had in the 1930s. The actual effect they got was the complete opposite to the intended effect. This is an example of a Nanny State. Government prohibiting in the name of protection, playing the role of Grandma. To be quiet frank for the majority of people sex work is very irrelevant. Only SWs and the clients care, for the rest it changes nothing for them. This will not stop prostitution nor will it stop porn. All of it will go underground and hidden. Crime and human trafficking will go sky high. Porn will all go on the dark web with lots of illegal content. I always said that prohibition never works but politicians answer to all is always prohibition. It is the easy way to manage socioeconomic issues. Fact is they are lazy and got no idea how to manage this. Policitians live in a utopia getting the big fat paycheck for not doing much work behind a desk in a fancy suit. All politicians are scum. Same idea for covid.

This affects the US mostly. This is a bill for the US but a lot of porn is made in the US. Did you read what the bill says? Many sites will just stop hosting pornography. No one will want to get involved in it. As for review sites and other platforms that SWs advertise on, those sites will probably migrate to offshore places to evade being stopped. A lot of SWs especially American ones use Twitter to advertise and market themselves including many Canadian SWs and all of that would disappear. The SWs will be deplatformed.

It would at first glance be fantastic if Canada became a major hosting site for pornography and prostitution, and replaced the U.S.

But you would have to contend with c-36, which arose from many of the same issues that I described in my post. True Decriminalization was almost shoved down the throats of conservative Canadians and the legislature responded by passing a Nordic Model. Thank God it isn’t enforced, but it created a lot of damage and made Canadians head overseas for web hosting, also.

The Liberals are feminists they would have done the same thing. The Nordic model is a feminist one. Canada's approach is different there is prohibition here but it is a softer approach enforced the way feminists would. They go after those who buy sexual services of minors and go after pimps and human traffickers. I do agree with the approach. But Canada is very much against stripclubs there are so many laws and government rules that make it hostile to operate a stripclub and rezoning restrictions make it impossible to rebuild a stripclub or to get a new nudity permit. I suspect they will just shift it all to over seas countries where prostitution is decriminalized. Merb's servers are also overseas.
