I arrived just before Christmas and was grilled lightly by the customs agent at the airport. Same questions about what I’m planning on doing here, why by myself, blah blah blah… just remain calm and no problem. Last time I came they even tried by sending me to secondary screening, I kept my confidence up and no issue again.
Funny enough I was asked why I came to Canada by myself by the US customs agent too lol… who cares I said I like it here, which is true lol.

So "Wtf funny" New Years shut down. Spent the night Dec 31 at a chalet next to the Kahnawake Indian territory by the Lachine rapids. Fireworks and semi auto gunshots until past 2am. More gunshots in the daylight morning. For sure 30 caliber by the sound. Yea It's their New Year tradition but I don't think there was a lockdown 10pm curfew there. The advantages of having Sovereign territory.
These are ages old tricks also used on me through the years. They try to make you ashamed of traveling alone. It's not against the law and you can travel alone and enjoy yourself. Don't allow the attempt to shame you to have any effect. Tell them you travel solo quite often and learned how to enjoy it and make friends in your travels. Don't let yourself be bullied by these goons!
It depends on how lucky you are.
I usually get by just fine like you, but sometimes you get a moody pissy agent. The last time I said "hang out with someone", they kept asking me who my friend was, their name, phone number... I was like wtf?
This happened to me twice. Then another time I got dragged into the back room and got all my stuff searched, my computer, my phone, and kept asking me what I was doing in Canada.
I'm afraid of giving bad answers now lol, so much easier to say "going toa festival" or "training at mma gym" because that seems easier to prove

One thing I did notice when I got searched, the border agents grabbed about 7 of us from the group to get "extra screening". An absolutely strange coincidence that it was the 7 non-whites in the line.
It's really kind of simple. These guys are trained bullies and some are quite effective in bullying technique. You are either the kind of person who gives in to the bullies you have encountered in your life or not. Mental toughness, resolute answers, and standing your ground wins every time.

People here don’t believe in holding any elected official accountable for their actions or promises, that is unless they are south of the border and not inclined to their liberal biased bullshit.

I agree with you Quebec has totally fucked up in the beginning and is continuing to lead Canada with infections, hospitalizations, deaths and the soon to be total collapse of the health care system even though they have had over 2 years to prepare for something like this variant.
The three Amigos with their lockdowns, curfews, are total fuck ups as far as I am concerned, they are quickly becoming a laughing stock with Yo Yo just a week before Christmas increasing gatherings to 20 people playing Santa for the coming election year and now showing his true colours as the Grinch.
The rule is that a single family member living alone may join another “ Family Bubble” it says nothing about 3 rd party locations.
I guess most SP will now be considered part of your family bubble and of course all of them live alone.
I suppose you can meet them in a store or outside on the street but I don’t think that applies to Hotels and bars and restaurants are closed..
So if you want to be with your family meet them outside on the street, or in a mall or a grocery store, you cannot do it in your own back yard though how stupid can this get.

Yeah, I agree with you it must be tough to come up with a valid reason for a single guy to make a short visit to Montreal right now with everything closed and a curfew in place.
Anyone attempting to visit must really be hard up for pussy as there is literally nothing else to do here that is worth making a trip.

Tell them you are going through to Ottawa. They will know there is no funny stuff going on because there is no funny stuff in Ottawa
I have lived here most of my life and while I like smoked meat, poutine I find just ok, I would definitely not spend a couple of thousand or even hundred bucks, there are hundreds of foods that I would take over smoked meat and many are available in Montreal.
I do however prefer to have it served to me in a nice restaurant and not in a box for takeout.
