My convo with the border agent lasted about one minute, asked for my passport, where i lived, what i sos for work and was i bringing anything as a gift, all the usual asked why i was going i told him just to hang out, then he asked if i got trsted i said yes he asked the result i said negative he said have a nice day
The easiest crossing ive ever had, didnt have to explain why i was going at all except said i was going to hang out, didnt ask to see my vaccination card nor proof of my testn

Last time I came they even tried by sending me to secondary screening, I kept my confidence up and no issue again.

So "Wtf funny" New Years shut down. Spent the night Dec 31 at a chalet next to the Kahnawake Indian territory by the Lachine rapids. Fireworks and semi auto gunshots until past 2am. More gunshots in the daylight morning. For sure 30 caliber by the sound. Yea It's their New Year tradition but I don't think there was a lockdown 10pm curfew there. These are ages old tricks also used on me through the years. They try to make you ashamed of traveling alone. It's not against the law and you can travel alone and enjoy yourself. Don't allow the attempt to shame you to have any effect. Tell them you travel solo quite often and learned how to enjoy it and make friends in your travels. Don't let yourself be bullied by these goons!

It depends on how lucky you are.

I usually get by just fine like you, but sometimes you get a moody pissy agent. The last time I said "hang out with someone", they kept asking me who my friend was, their name, phone number... I was like wtf?

This happened to me twice. Then another time I got dragged into the back room and got all my stuff searched, my computer, my phone, and kept asking me what I was doing in Canada.

I'm afraid of giving bad answers now lol, so much easier to say "going toa festival" or "training at mma gym" because that seems easier to prove

It's really kind of simple. These guys are trained bullies and some are quite effective in bullying technique. You are either the kind of person who gives in to the bullies you have encountered in your life or not. Mental toughness, resolute answers, and standing your ground wins every time.

I have a slight tan complexion, like a Latino look.

Not to sound racist, but it seems like if you don't like blue eyed WASP, you will get questioned a lot more and sent into secondary screening

You shouldn’t complain about Quebec politicians, people here will ask you to run for office and do better lol.
People here don’t believe in holding any elected official accountable for their actions or promises, that is unless they are south of the border and not inclined to their liberal biased bullshit.

I agree with you Quebec has totally fucked up in the beginning and is continuing to lead Canada with infections, hospitalizations, deaths and the soon to be total collapse of the health care system even though they have had over 2 years to prepare for something like this variant.

Yeah, I agree with you it must be tough to come up with a valid reason for a single guy to make a short visit to Montreal right now with everything closed and a curfew in place.
Anyone attempting to visit must really be hard up for pussy as there is literally nothing else to do here that is worth making a trip.

I have lived here most of my life and while I like smoked meat, poutine I find just ok, I would definitely not spend a couple of thousand or even hundred bucks, there are hundreds of foods that I would take over smoked meat and many are available in Montreal.
I do however prefer to have it served to me in a nice restaurant and not in a box for takeout.
