That's not what I said either.
Read the last 20 comments. They're all talking about being priced out due to inflation, i.e. paying for housing, groceries, etc. The discussion of whether or not it is a luxury goes hand in hand with discussing rising costs and less discretionary spending being possible. You can't start a discussion about whether or not it is a luxury and not talk about rising prices, especially prices that are way above market.
How are prices above the market if those same prices are the new norm? People are raising their rates, agencies and indies.
It seems like people on all 3 boards have all said more or less the same thing. It wasn’t so much of a luxury before but it became one because of the inflation. Yes the SPs rates have gone up but since everything else did as well, they have less money to spend on seeing escorts. Even what you consider “market rate” has became less accessible to some.

Counter question for you and other SPs. Have you seen a shift in clientele in the last 4-5 years? Did you notice them being more affluent considering the cost of seeing an escort now being more of a luxury item? Or is it generally speaking still the same customer group with lower frequency of visits?

No, I’ve always had the same kind of clients more or less, only difference is that 2023 was my first year having people younger than me booking me. We are talking about 22-23 years old students.

Escorts are the luxury even for the rich. The rich simply use high end escorts or maintain “exclusive service providers “ such as mistresses etc. The challenge is to keep it as an affordable hobby not as an addiction that will ruin you. Adjust frequency of the meetings and escort category to your means. The good rule is that it should be definitely less than 10% of your after-tax income.
By market I mean current market. No point talking about past market. What I mean is I won't go to a place that charges 350 vs the 10 others that charges 260
@Sylar, some of the students from Asia and the Middle East, sponsored by their parents, can afford a lot more. Where the money comes from in many cases is a different thing
I know it's tough to swallow, when inflation raises the price of things, but such is life. I personally think hobbying in Montreal is still very good value, especially compared to the US, and even when compared to other parts of Canada. I've noticed some SP's have different rates, based on location (Montreal, Toronto, Ottowa, etc), and Montreal always has the best rates.
That's because we're the poorest city of the four (literally. It's not a joke)
That's when you are only thinking only about revenues. Not expenses.
Living costs in Vancouver or Toronto are higher. (literally not a joke)
