It seems that I was wrong in assuming that it was rare for sex workers to have young clients prior to the internet age. I looked at my stack of references on client research for an answer. Martin Monto (U Portland) is a leading authority on the topic in the US. In his seminal study of clients arrested for attempting to buy sex at street level (in sting operations conducted by police in three major US cities in 1995-1999), 25% of the arrested offenders who responded to his anonymous survey were aged 18-29 and, and 75% of the total said their first experience of buying sex was when they were 18-29 (sample size: 1,169). This data contradicts my earlier hypothesis.

That's what I figured honestly. A lot of people here started seeing escorts in their 20s and 30s and are still doing it now, or checking this forum nearly every day, 30-40 years later.

But I also don't know if the clients who see street workers are the same dudes who see escorts who work for agencies or work independently.

I guess I am the exception then, I started hobbying at 46-47 y.o.! I was hanging in strip clubs in my youth but never had to pay a girl to following me home so that doesnt count.

Nowadays, in Canada, most likely not, but these are numbers from 1995-1999 in Los Angeles, Portland and Las Vegas. I don't know how much of an "indoor" scene there was back in those days. Regardless if the numbers are representative of the whole population of clients or not, it still proves the point that there was a significant amount of young men among the clientele of sex workers, in those years, in those cities.

BTW, I'm sure you realize this, but if we move to Montreal in 1995, if you wanted to book from an agency, you had to look at the classified ads in the newspaper (I believe the free newspaper Voir was popular) and then the booker would try to convince you with their words that the escort you wanted to book would suit your tastes...

I know the history of my line of work, yes. I think there's always been an indoor scene but street work was way more common before the Internet.

I see what you mean tho, but I think you misunderstood my point. I'm just not sure all of the men who hire sex workers today would have done it under those conditions back in the day.

I think people assume that younger men hire sex workers because they can't find women to date or hook up with but I don't think that's always true.

A lot of them just have the money to do it, and they want easy access meaning they don't want to go through the trouble of using a dating app or going to a bar or a club. Some of them are just curious and want to try something. Some are going through a breakup and they want intimacy without emotional involvement.

I think it's important to remember that 30-40 years ago a lot of men got married and had kids in their 20s, too. That completely changes things.

J'y suis allé la 1ère fois cette année et j'ai trouvé ça bien: des poutines particulières, des séancea de danse en ligne et un stage avec de la musique sympa.

La 2ème il y avait les mêmes truck de poutine à l'exception d'un. Donc plus d'effet de surprise mais plus un sentiment de remanger certaines poutines. Je ne sais pas si c'est parce qu'il a plu mais la danse en ligne annoncée n'était pas là

Donc pour moi ça resté quand même une place sympa pour manger de la poutine en bonne compagnie et avec de la musique

Il y a aussi le fait que plusieurs des food trucks participants font en fait partie d'une même entité ou ont les mêmes suppliers, donc au final tu te retrouves à manger un peu les mêmes ingrédients d'une enseigne à l'autre, il manque de variété et de qualité à mon avis

J'aime bien le forfait dégustation avec les 5 poutines petit format.
Au final côté quantité ce n'est pas le plus avantageux mais ça permet de goûter à un peu tout!
