It seems that I was wrong in assuming that it was rare for sex workers to have young clients prior to the internet age. I looked at my stack of references on client research for an answer. Martin Monto (U Portland) is a leading authority on the topic in the US. In his seminal study of clients arrested for attempting to buy sex at street level (in sting operations conducted by police in three major US cities in 1995-1999), 25% of the arrested offenders who responded to his anonymous survey were aged 18-29 and, and 75% of the total said their first experience of buying sex was when they were 18-29 (sample size: 1,169). This data contradicts my earlier hypothesis.

That's what I figured honestly. A lot of people here started seeing escorts in their 20s and 30s and are still doing it now, or checking this forum nearly every day, 30-40 years later.

But I also don't know if the clients who see street workers are the same dudes who see escorts who work for agencies or work independently.
