Getting to YPG and finding parking may become a little harder.....St-Catherine street will become a pedestrian artery starting in the fall of 2026 and construction will finish in 2030. It will be from Berri all the way to Papineau. Any thoughts ?

Stupidest idea ever. Plante is a misguided woke far-leftist motivated by ideology. She is intentionally restricting cars in an effort to force them out of their cars (Communist). She is adding bike lanes everywhere, widening sidewalks, and turning many streets into one lane one direction street. The worst thing for a driver are one direction streets. It causes more traffic congestion. With the Liberals mass immigration policy causinf rapid population increase this does not make sense. Making so many pedastrian only streets will seriously disrupt traffic flow. What will happen is a lot of those ppl will stop coming downtown.

To clarify this plan for visitors who are not that familiar with Montreal streets, the plan refers to Ste. Catherine EAST, i.e. east of Berri which is not the part of Ste. Catherine that most visitors use very often. A lot of that part of Ste Catherine is the gay village and I think it already gets closed during certain hours in the summer. I can understand how this change can affect residents and others who drive in the area but it will have no effect on those visiting the city. Most of us don't drive in the city.

There are no plans to make Ste. Catherine West pedestrian only anytime soon but there has been work going on to upgrade aging infrastructure and that will continue for a while. I have never been to Montreal during a time when there has not been street work going on in multiple locations.
