Nobody tops the SCOTTIE GOMEZ trade..

Gotcha ! Both you and Doc and on your own 'ground'.
Now that's what I call 'real fish'.

For Gomez or any other trades made at that moment wouldn't have brought Habs a cup.

But to lose Niedermayer who helped Devils win their 3 Stanley Cups then went on to help the Ducks winning theirs not to mention the Conn Smythe and the Norris, and all the awards in World cup, Winter Olympics, mot assist in a playoff season, etc.

Celle la est vraiment pissée dans le vinaigre !

Detroit is simply the best Hockey franchise since the last streak of success from the Habs back in the 80's.

And it's the only team capable of beating the Habs overall record in the history of hockey when my grand-grand kids will be watching it.

As for the Leafs it's dead and gone. It's over. Can't do it ! Can't...doo it !

Gentle, I congratulate you on one of the most brilliant posts we have ever seen in the sports threads. (In the interests of brevity I only quoted the absolute BEST parts here, but the entire post was excellent!)

Shawn Thornton out indefinitely after suffering concussion in fight

Boston enforcer Shawn Thornton will be out at least 10 days after suffering a beating last night at the hands of Sabres' giant John Scott. This was one of the worse beatings i've seen in quite a while, i must admit.

Big John Scott KO's Shawn Thornton

Thornton never threw a punch

I wish we coiuld have kepy him in NY, but the Sabres gave him a better contract offer .

I am sure that he was brought into your division to offset Chara/Thornton/ Lucic

Buffalo indeed is now a much tougher team than they were with Scott in the lineup. Adding Steve Ott has also been a bonus for team toughness, along with Patrick Kaleta.

I was watching the Sabres/Mtl game today on RDS & they did mention that what likely caused Buffalo to go and seek some tough guys was probably due to Milan Lucic's cheapshot on Ryan Miller last season.

Many teams in the East can now match Boston for toughness, including Mtl.

Look behind you.
And on the other side of the country the Oilers need a tough winger, a Messier type would help a lot. With the shortened season they make the playoffs this year. Ok now back to the eastern side :)

I must say i have never been happier after a loss than tonight, the young Leafs just showed they can play with the bRuins and even tho they lost 1-0, they WON!

Cant wait to see the bRuins murder the "canadians" next week! should be a great night of entertainment, indeed :thumb:

:D

Typical Leafs' fan !
They win even when they loooooose !

Came to think of it ! isn't it why Leaf's always lose ?
Because they think they win when they lose

Sh!t man you're at 19 and Habs at 5.
You know ? the team you were so proud of beating by 1 point in the end of last year while laughing they were at the bottom.

Why don't you just let go this team.
Quebec's fan could make men out of them Leafs and they would start to win again in Quebec city.

Hell we would even keep the blue Leaf as a logo since white and blue goes with Quebec and everyone knows 80% of all maple trees are in Quebec, not Ontario.

They should have picked another logo. One of their own instead of always copying Quebec's stuff.

Lets face it. TO isn't a hockey town anymore.
Ever since there has been more than 6 teams, the Leafs stoped having a good image since they couldn't steal good players anymore.

It's over since... Vietnam.
Hell it was over even before the Tet offensive. :D

Gentle,

Can you imagine being the fan of the most pathetic team in the world in any sport and it's so bad you become fool enough to think being shut out is a win. Leaf's fans...talk about being a Dead Thing.

Winning without scoring. Explains everything about Iggy. "Winning"

really,

Win a few playoff series then come back here and tell us how good your team is. Instead of focusing on one regular season game, look at the big picture - the Leafs have the worst and most embarrassing record of any team in the league:

Post 1967 expansion Stanley Cups won: ZERO

Post 1967 expansion Stanley Cup final appearances: ZERO

Post 2004/05 lockout playoff rounds won: ZERO

Post 2004/05 lockout playoff appearances: ZERO

If they gave a Stanley Cup for BITING, the Leafs would win it.

Unfortunately for Hogtown however the Cup is awarded for Hockey SKILLS rather than use of teeth - which is why TO hasn't even had a sniff at the finals for 46 years.

Even more unfortunately for fans of Canada's National Embarrassment, the drought will continue long past their lifetimes, as the crappiest franchise in all of professional sports will NEVER win another Cup. (It takes more than beating the Habs - you have to beat good teams also!)

While true it was only one game, one regular season win, it very well could be a game looked upon later in the season or in the next season or 2 as a game where the team came together and "grew up" like i pointed out, and it was a very fun game as a Leafs fan to watch, very very fun, although not so much for gohabsgo or other habs fans.

You got totally embarrassed and i loved it! Your team is still way to small and soft and your GM, Mark B has still not addressed that issue enuf. Adding a middleweight like Prust was a good move but he needs support, Moen is another middleweight who looks like he thinks of himself as more of a scorer these days than muscle and btw, he is not much of either. If the habs were smart they would sign Big George L again to protect the soft little skilled guys on the team, until then you will be man handled by the bigger tougher teams in the league, which aint a bad thing from my perspective lol.

Frazer McLaren was a great pickup by the heavily Carlyle influenced Dave Nonis. The line with Orr on one side and McLaren on the other will not only put fear into the opposition but those 2 guys not only play with an edge, they showed last night they can also skate and have some skill not ofton found in tough guys in todays NHL. (not alot of skill but some) Add in a pest like Komorov, big tough Mark Fraser and Korbinian Holzer, the german tank and a new and improved Cody Franson who seems to have picked up his physical play some and Dion and thats a pretty damn good big tough team that Carlyle is playing, all with a good skill set.

Will there be bad games by the Leafs as they grow this season? No doubt, but finally the much bigger tougher teams is shaping up nicely with much skill up front and steady goaltending, Luongo who??? GLG!

Well... in a sense I'm ok with TO's winning in Mtrl.
Fact is, it's probably the only place they won 2 games.

And frankly my girlfriend in TO is getting on my nerves.
She's so depressed bcuze of her Maple Leafs that sex with her is getting boring.
No kidding.

Which makes me feel good as a Montrealer to provide TO's fan the only sunshine of hope in their long never-ending misery which began... the first year of color tv in Canada.

Here's what it looked like the last time TO went into the finals.

I'll make a prediction:

If the Habs lose their next game against Tampa, the media & the fans will start making waves about getting Michel Therrien fired. Don't be surprised if some of them start whining that Carey Price should be traded, etc.

The Habs could have used Scott Gomez last night.

Things are not looking very bright when your best players are Brandon Prust, Brendan Gallagher & Colby Armstrong.

Can the Habs make the playoffs with an overpaid/underachieving midget as their captain?

Iggy is correct. The Habs are a small team & they disappear when it gets physical. Did P.K. Subban & Andrei Markov play last night? Dion Phaneuf looked like a Norris trophy candidate!

James Reimer outplayed Carey Price!

And dare i say the obvious: Randy Carlyle took Michel Therrien to the cleaners!

The Habs were annihilated!!!!!!!!

By the way, the Leafs have won 5 of the past 6 games at the Bell Center.

Too bad the Leafs don't play the Habs more often!

My prediction:

The Leafs will make the playoffs.

The Habs won't finish better than 11th & will AGAIN miss the playoffs.
