I know a Toronto reporter who happened to be present in P.E.I. during the Phaneuf wedding & indeed, there were many members of the prestigious TML organization at the wedding, including former GM Brian Burke. Many of his teammates made the long trek to P.E.I. for the festivities & the reporter told me that the affection for their captain was obvious. Burkie attended the wedding solo because, as he explained, he wanted to 'spend time hanging out with the boys', whom he hadn't seen in a while.

Unfortunately, there is a good chance Dion won't be around next year if he becomes a free agent. The Leafs are not willing to extend his current contract and would prefer he accept a decrease in pay, which he likely won't agree to since teams will be lining up to sign him to a big contract. The Leafs are likely to use that money to re-sign Phil Kessel, and proof of this was the fact they brought back his best buddy & teammate, Tyler Bozak. Phil Kessel was the main reason why Bozak was brought back, so it would be crazy to not re-sign him, especially when he now is among the league leaders in scoring.

Morgan Reilly is expected to be part of the TML lineup this coming season, with Tyler Biggs having an outside chance at making the team. Joe Colborne, whom they obtained from Boston in the Kaberle heist, will likely be part of the opening game lineup this season after some strong work with the Marlies & impressive play with the Leafs at the end of last season.

And finally, Joffrey Lupul was chosen by ESPN to pose for them for the simple fact he happens to be one of the most handsome hockey players in the league. Do you honestly think any habs or wings player would have been chosen?? Tomas Plekanec? Alex Galchenyuk? Pavel Datsyuk? Daniel Alfredsson? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. Marie-Pier Morin lobbyied to have Brandon Prust included in the shoot, but ESPN obviously felt that Prust doesn't have the body that Lupul has.

Not a chance. Kessel will turn UFA and sign with a U.S. based team.

Not a chance. They never would have re-signed Tyler Bozak had they not wanted to re-sign Kessel. Same thing with Bozak....he took less money to remain in Toronto to play with one of the game's top snipers. I expect an announcement of a contract extension within the next few months....or sooner.

You keeping all those Molson's for yourself? Were you not ever taught to share?
Kessel will sign a MAX contract with the Leafs, he loves playing in the Centre of the Hockey Universe and the Leafs are glad they have him. Hope Seguin is happy in Big D!

Dion is a very good player and w/o him last season the Leafs do not make the playoffs. His salary and celebrity is why he gets a bad rap but overall he is a very good top 2 Dman and leader.

ONLY on the stinkin' leafs would this PYLON be "a very good (HA HA) top 2 Dman and leader". On any other team he'd be getting splinters on the bench.

Maybe the leafs are FINALLY getting a little smarter. Then again, look at the Clarkson and Bozak signings - nope, they're NOT getting smarter.

If Bozak wanted to play with a sniper, he sure as hell picked the wrong team.

Then again, I can't imagine any decent team wanting someone like Bozak.

Don't you mean the centre of the LOSER universe? 46 years and counting (and counting, and counting, and counting...).

Unless you discover the Secret of Eternal Life you will NEVER see the stinkin' leafs win a Cup!

Neither are the Dead Things with that Daniel Alfredsson signing. Of course, it fits the mold. The Dead Things have always been in love with hockey players 40 and over. I heard that they even tried to bring back Mark Howe last season.

Hell, they should bring back Gordie as well! They are gonna need all the help they can get playing in the same division as the Leafs, Sens and Bruins, tho if Gordie did manage to score a goal and a assist, he best not try for the Gordie Howe Hat Trick against the tough guys from the teams above....THAT would not end well i am afraid.

Does Todd Bertuzzi still play with a physical edge when he is not taking cheap shots and ruining guys careers?

Yes, those aging players have helped win FOUR CUPS in the last decade and a half. Maybe the Wings are not "dead" after all - in fact maybe the "dead" team is the one that has had 46 YEARS of uninterrupted complete and utter failure, the team that has made the playoffs a laughable and pathetic ONCE in the past decade (and that one single solitary time in a shortened season leading to a HISTORIC COLLAPSE with a cowardly effort in game 7). Oh by the way, the GREAT Detroit Red Wings have made the playoffs 22 CONSECUTIVE YEARS and counting.

And Mark Howe? Do you mean Hall of Famer Mark Howe? The son of Mr. Hockey Gordie Howe, one of the 3 greatest hockey players who ever lived (and, natch, a Detroit Red Wing)? That Mark Howe? 'Cause if THAT is the Mark Howe you mean, he's probably STILL better than all of Toronto's current PYLONS put together.

I know the leafs are cowards - I saw them play Boston (sorry for bringing up those scary memories dion, but Milan won't hurt you anymore...until NEXT season). But I guess only REAL cowards would think they're big shots by fighting an 85 year old man!. Mind you, since that 85 year old man is Gordie Howe, he'd probably still wipe the ice with the cowards on the leafs.

What makes you think he is gay? It would explain why one red wings fan is a red wings fan however, but where did you hear he could possibly like the guys in the dressing room a little more than he should be liking them?

If i could rid the NHL of one Russian player, i'd pick Pavel Datsyuk.

One fruitcake in the NHL is one fruitcake too many.

No surprise that you're very interested in this topic. Which of your many Village People CDs are you playing while imagining him in one of Doc's cowboy outfits? Not that I'm judging you - you have every right to live your life according to your own preferences.

He looks like one of those male ballerinas who either spent their childhood in ballerina school or taking piano lessons.

I'll take your word on this one Doc, since I'm sure you're an expert on ballet and have far more experience in that world than the rest of the hockey fans here. But I doubt that many ballet students end up being the most skilled hockey player in the world.

And speaking of ballet: In the Boston series I saw a lot of leafs who looked like they'd rather be in a ballet than playing against the big bad Bruins.

Indeed, those same Leafs were just over 10 minutes away from making a great comeback against those same Bruins, who at one point in the series were leading 3 games to 1. The Leafs showed great pride and courage and nearly overcame all odds.....almost overcoming a 3 games to 1 deficit against the Stanley Cup Finalists!!!

Go Leafs Go!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like you only watched the first 50 minutes of game 7...and then went to make a few sandwiches when the EPIC, HISTORY-MAKING COLLAPSE occurred!
