You mean Pavel Datsyuk.

Datsyuk is only 5'10.

Kessel is 6'0.

Actually Pav is 5'11". As for Kessel, it's hard to measure someone who's INVISIBLE.

More to the point, however, is the fact that while 29 other teams would kill to have Pav, he's untouchable - Detroit would never trade the most skilled player in the world.

Doc's very funny i agree, you should hear his joke about a hooker, and red wings fan and a mirror, but thats for another time. Doc funny? OUI, just not delusional like you...

If you think the red wings are gonna have a cake walk in the East, especially after all the moves the eastern teams have made so far this offseason you are sorely mistaken my friend.... A broken down Stephen Weiss and Grampa Alfie are not difference makers for a detroit team who will be exposed for being a old and soft team and should #13 ever get injured, will fall faster in the standings than a habs fan falling in love with the great hope that is pk soupcan. Cant wait for the season to start!

Doc, you're STILL the funniest man on the planet - it's just not FAIR that Jerry Seinfeld gets the big bucks : he can't hold a candle to you.

Cant wait for the season to start!

Unfortunately for the stinkin' leafs it will be a FULL season and we all know that the only time they were able to sneak into the playoffs in the past decade it was in a shortened 48 game season.

Not that it mattered, since they continued their 46 years of complete and total failure.

I'm very happy that they did make it though - if they hadn't we would not have had the privilege of witnessing HISTORY when their cowardly play led to the MOST EPIC COLLAPSE in the history of game sevens.

When do you figure they'll drop out of the playoff picture next season? My guess is that the COLLAPSE will start around the 50th game of the season but they won't be mathematically eliminated until about game 75. Hey, that'll make it a very GOOD year by leaf "standards". Then again, SOMEONE has to keep the golf course business alive every year!

It's simple, Sundin (even tho he was not a favorite player in any way, shape or form of mine) was...........better

I have to admit: if Sundin hadn't been trapped on the world's worst hockey team for most of his career he might have been better. He DID score 114 points in Quebec one year but of course he never came close to that on the leafs. Can't blame him : he had NO ONE else who was even close to half decent.

So you're saying that a team that's "old and soft" was by far the toughest competition the Stanley Cup champs faced, taking them to overtime in game 7 of the SECOND round? I guess that doesn't say a hell of a lot about the leafs, who CRUMBLED in the FIRST round, with a cowardly and epic collapse against the team that went on to lose to Chicago in the final.

And by the way the Wings are not old. They have a strong veteran presence of future first ballot Hall of Famers (Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Alfie) and a very impressive group of youngsters getting ready to accept the torch when it's passed.

Admittedly it will take a lot of our typically excellent coaching in Detroit to undo the damage that was done to our backup prior to his arrival in Hockeytown. After all, Toronto is well known as the place where careers go to die, but if anyone can turn him from the Monstrosity back into the Monster that he was before the leafs got their inept hands on him, it's Mike Babcock and his staff.

In any case however it's 100% obvious that the Detroit tandem is FAR better than the Toronto one. Why? Because Jimmy Howard BY HIMSELF is far better than that inexperienced and inconsistent bundle of nerves Reimer and that underplayed career backup Bernier.

I just turned on one of the Rogers Sportsnews channels and was confronted with a naked picture of Jeffrey Lupul.

The nakedness seems appropriate in that Toronto players are known for getting deked out of their jockstraps.

By the way, it amazes me that someone who has played for two minor league teams since 2011 (the Syracuse Crunch and the TO Maple Leafs) received a 25 million dollar contract.

Lupul was asked to be in ESPN's very popular "Body Issue" this year...good for him, he works hard in the gym and has come back from some very very serious injuries... he is a role model for sure and if Dion is ever traded or goes UFA next year, Lupes would be the next Captain of the Leafs in a heartbeat.

ANYONE would be a better "captain" than Phaneuf - even someone like Lupul who's injured most of the time.

Dion is a very good player and w/o him last season the Leafs do not make the playoffs. His salary and celebrity is why he gets a bad rap but overall he is a very good top 2 Dman and leader.

Rumor has it there were alot of Leafs and ppl within the orginization that showed up to his wedding and that shows he is a great teammate and person. (unless they just wanted to check out Elisha lol) I'm glad guys on other teams dont like him, it shows he is doing something right and takes competition seriously. On my team we love him, the other teams i could care less who likes him and prefer it that way.
