I see absolutely no way Wells loses his starting job. I think Granderson should go to right and Ichiro becomes the 4th outfielder. I think at this point in his career Ichiro is sort of average overall as an OF and he does not give the Yankees the same combined packages of the other 3, Wells in left, Gardner in CF and Granderson in RF

Ichiro needs to play everyday to remain at the top of his game, kinda like Wells, thats why i think Wells will become the fulltime DH and play the field some as well to give the other guys some rest. Hafner is doing well so he needs his ab's at dh as well and like i said, DEPTH is a nice thing to have and Girardi has some tough decisions to make, then again these things usually have a way of sorting themselves out. (injuries, slumps, etc...)

I agree with EB. Wells stays in the lineup. Ichiro is hitting .272, 2 HR, 8 RBI's, .307 OBP. Wells is hitting .295, 9 HR, 20 RBI's, .343 OBP. Wells is far more productive than Ichiro. Since Wells bats right and Ichiro bats left, I can see Ichiro being platooned and Wells or probably Hafner being DH on those days, although Wells has hit more HR's (6) against right handed pitchers than lefties (3), but his average is much better against lefties (.347) than righties (.241). So maybe Wells would not be a good candidate to be platooned.

Hafner has been ba
tting better than Ichiro also. So I see Ichiro as a bench role when Granderson returns. If Ichiro was hitting .322, like his lifetime average, I would see lggy's point, but he is not. Wells is batting better for average plus HR and RBI production.

Ichiro was on fire lately but cooled down again over the last few games but either wells or ichiro makes a good choice. Go with whoever is hot.

Nuno and Warren Shut Out Indians

Congratulations to Vidal Nuno and Adam Warren on combining to shut out the high powered Indians' offense. My player of the game is the junkballer extraordinaire Vidal Nuno, who has now pitched 8 shutout innings for the New York Yankees, equipped only with a changeup as far as major league pitches, but a lot of guts and the nerve to shake off his catcher in key spots. Vidal, you are one crafty little bastard!!!!!!!!!!

And how's about Mr. David Phelps in game one! Great pitching today all around for the Empire. And to think, the names were not CC, Pettitte or Kuroda ... DEPTH is gooooooooood!

Iggy,

Vidal Nuno was on a supposed 75 pitch limit today because he had been on the shelf for 2 weeks, but with the Indians threatening and Nuno past 80 pitches, Girardi left Nuno in there and he struck out Cabrera. Joe G knows a big pair of testicles when he sees one, and this kid has some guts and fight in him.

Nuno left after 5 innings and 89 pitches, after 2 weeks of doing nothing.

Game 1? Ohhhhhh....Hahaha Sk, that Justin Masterson sure would look good in a pair of 'red sox' right about now, eh?

On another note, do you guys realise since the Yanks started the season 1-4, they have gone on to a 23-10 record since? Whoaaaa Babbbyyyy as one of the 'boyz' would say.

Justin Masterson was the reason the Yankees were shutout in game 1. But they outscored Cleveland 7-1 on the day. 1 run by the Indians against the Yankees in 18 innings.

How many runs did the high powered offense of the Yanks score in the first game?

Yankees scored 0 in the first game, K, but they scored 7 in the second game just to spite you and rumps; yeah, that's it. They always have you and rumps in mind in everything they do. That's the ticket. Yep. Getting that run differential in order.

By the way, Masterson was masterful as John Sterling probably said. By the way, Cleveland has a record only 1/2 game behind your beloved Red Sox, K and rumps. And rumps was going around saying that the Indians stink. Indians are on their way UP and the Red Sox look like they are on their way DOWN. If the Red Sox go down further, I guess we can all say the Red Sox stink?

Well Granderson is supposedly possibly going into the Yankees lineup tomorrow night. So the big boppers are starting to return. Still on the shelf are Youk, A-Rod, Jeter, and Teixeira. When these guys return there will be no struggle for runs.

In case anyone has forgotten, Granderson hit 84 homers the last 2 seasons.

Lineup just posted and Grandy batting 4th. Nuno sent to AAA despite the 8 scoreless innings, which tells you all you need to know about the Yankees pitching depth.

Nuno probably will be back sometime later. I bet he will be back next year as a full time starter or a long relief pitcher for the Yankees.

Also, to make room for Granderson, Yankees put Brennan Boesch to AAA Scranton Wilkes Barre. He's a descent major league outfielder, having played 3 years at Detroit. You would think the Yankees would have sent Ben Francisco down instead, but Francisco, who has done nothing but struggled, is a right handed batter and Boesch is a lefty. With Granderson, Yankees have 3 Left handed outfielders and 2 Right handed outfielders. Boesch has gotten some key hits, but for average he has been struggling also, but not as bad as Francisco, who is a .254 lifetime hitter. Boesch is a .258 lifetime hitter, but has a .208 BA in 2013 with the Yankees. Both Boesch and Joe Girardi had said that sending Boesch down to AAA will keep Boesch sharp for later in the season when they will need him. Boesch had played fairly regularly with Detroit in his 3 years with the Tigers.
