I laughed when someone on here said Dempster was a great addition to the sox, even tho his ERA in the AL before this season suggested otherwise. He was el stinko again tonight. He is a below .500 pitcher with a career era closing in on 4.50 and (for you rumps) a career WHIP of 1.43! Btw, most of those stats were from pitching in the "weaker hitting" National League. I can see Dempster, if he is healthy all season, finishing around 6-14 with a era nearing 5.00 ......

It's hard to disagree with you. As a matter-of-fact, the Jays weren't even interested in Demptser, who is a Canadian boy. Had they thought he had anything left in the tank, they surely would have obtained them in order to sell more tickets.

p.s. I predict that the Jays will have caught up to the Red Sox by June 23rd. Likely sooner.

A-Rod Sells Home For Miami Beach Record $30 Million

A-Rod turned a $15 million profit on the record sale price for any home in Miami Beach history:

http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...iguez-sells-house-miami-beach-high-30-million

This NY Post article indicates a lack of privacy is why A-Rod sold the property:

I am personally a big fan of Versace's home on Collins Avenue. Not much privacy in terms of the area it is in, but what a location. It's too bad Versace did not invest more money into personal security.

It's very possible Toronto can turn around its season.

For the Blue Jays to win 90 games, which probably would not be enough to win the Division but maybe for the second Wild Card, they would need to be 70-45, .608 from today until the last game.

For the Blue Jays to win 95 games, which may be enough for the Division or the Wild Card for sure, they would need to be 75-40, .652 from today until the last game.

Teix is a guy who has played hurt very consistently throughout his career with the Yankees. Unlike some guys who play hurt and clam up totally about the injury, Teix is the kind of guy who will say he is not 100%, but is playing because the team needs him to play. If that is not guts I really don't know what is. It has also effected his performance at the end of the last few seasons and the real Teixeira did not surface in the stats because the real Teixeira was not the guy out there on the field. However I will take the guy who does not give a shit about his sabermetric profile as opposed to the guys who look at their stats with one eye and the mirror in the other, with a chicken drumstick in one hand and their cock in the other. Guys like that do not win anything for you regardless of their stats. You can't look good when you aren't winning. You need a balance of talent and grit and people in baseball know this. This is why Don Mattingly benched Andre Ethier. The stated reason for doing so was essentially that Ethier was playing with a lack of pride and guts and determination. His stats are not terrible. Certainly not as bad as Lucas Duda and Ike Davis's stats. Yet those guys get marched out to play every day even though their stats suck major hippo balls. So for you to insinuate that grit does not count and only stats do, is wrong and rejected by all major league managers who care about the game like Maddon, Girardi, Mattingly etc.

You got that right my friend! not sure why the smiley face, you are actually correct for once :D (see, that is proper use of when to use a smiley)

Rumps is having a transformation. He's actually a closet Yankees fan, which is quite dangerous being that he lives in Red Sox country.

I suppose the pride, guts and determination explain his steadily declining OPS over the last five years, taking him from .962, All Star, to .948 to .846 to .835 to .807, good for 10 place among AL first basemen. It not only take pride, guts and determination, it takes a lot of balls to take $22,500,000 for such mediocrity.

Ouch, that looks nasty....surprised he did not land on the DL as well, geez

The picture looks worse than it was. Napoli didn't fall on his head like that. He missed a very routine pop up, tripped and did a somersault. The picture is the result of the somersault. It was definitely bloopers material.

If Napoli landed like that directly, I doubt he would have gotten up so fast and I would not make fun of such a fall.

Let's go to the video tape as Warner Wolf would say:

BUT, they get back Aceves and that other guy, good trade off in my opinion.

What's rumps always saying about Yankees getting hurt on the DL? Every athlete is subject to injury, but seems that our baseball expert is only up to date on the Yankees DL situation. I wonder why? :deadhorse:

We all read this before rumps, many many times. :deadhorse:

Looks like it's back to the DL for Hurtis Granderson. Wonder if it will be the real or the not-real DL. Wonder if Phelps will be joining him.

Re: Granderson. A-Rod had a similar injury last year and was out from July 24 until Sept. 3. 6-8 weeks seems like a good early guess."

Gotta feel for a guy like Granderson, great guy, worked his butt off to get back, great guy, finally started feeling good at the plate and another freak injury, and a great guy, one of the better ones in the game, oh well, the depth of the Yanks will keep on keeping on.... Phelps would be a big loss tho, hope he is ok and will not miss major time.

X rays negative on David Phelps. Right forearm contusion.

Meanwhile, John Lackey held the hard hitting Indians to two hits, no earned runs. Lackey at 2.72 is just one of three Sox starters with a better ERA than CC Sabathia.

Close call........ thankfully he is ok. Hey, whats up with Middlebrooks, does he have a history with a bad back?
The report on Middlebrooks is "back spasms." I'm surprised they moved him to the DL so quickly as "back spasms" usually shut a guy down for 3-5 days. This is not his first back injury. It could be that they felt he'd miss a week and didn't want an empty roster spot for that long. That could also have an impact on whether or not Phelps hits the DL.

My bet is that Phelps will miss a start or two. Whether or not he lands on the DL depends a lot on how badly they need the spot filled.
