Yanks are doing incredible for the injuries they have, showing the red sox how its done, remember last year? haha
You know what's incredible?

Pete Abraham ✔ @PeteAbe
In the last 32 days, the #RedSox have made 38 roster moves involving 21 different players (some several times). And they're in 1st place

Ben Cherington is fucking brilliant.

Cmon rumpie, speak in French and impress us for once.... dont forget to throw in big words that you just looked up, cmon IMPRESS us with yur 75 years of knowledge.

In English, we say "incredibly." Yes, they are doing incredibly shitty. When you consider the players on the DL, they still have over $120 million on the active roster. Blecch.

Haha! love inside jokes my friend...
Me too. I just adore inside jokes. The inside joke I'm enjoying right now is another three game losing streak for the light hitting fourth place $228,000,000 Yankees.

Hey BOYZ.

Everyday is fly whit you iggy...

The slang translation says "awesome baby". Does Anna Nikova know about this?

Could this be the beginning of the swan dive, epic collapse that I had predicted earlier?

"Beginning"...no. The Yankees have been in a swan dive for a while. That's why you guys have been under that rock so long.

Damn, when your team's DH has a .220 BA (Hafner) you know they're in sucksville. Good move Cashman. DOH!!! I can't wait to see the next "brilliant" move after they've lost Cano at the end of this year.

...we will soon find out.

Sabathia is losing it? Yes. Of course it doesn't help that the horrible-hitting Yankees practically never give support. Now everyone who looks ridiculous for giving CC the Cy in March has more the egg on their faces after tonight...Joe...Iggy...will that be poached, scrambled, or just raw and gooey.

http://bronxbaseballdaily.com/2013/...near-a-deal-and-why-that-might-not-be-so-bad/

Robinson Cano is clearly the Yankees best offensive player, but he’s a free agent at the end of this season and will no doubt demand huge figures in contract talks this offseason so his inclusion on the 2014 is far from guaranteed.

The Yankees so badly want to keep Cano that they have been willing to break their own unwritten rule that they don’t negotiate with players until their contract is up. They offered him what they termed a “significant offer” last offseason, but with Scott Boras as his agent, talks with Cano didn’t go anywhere then. Since then Cano has fired Boras, but negotiations, which are on-going, haven’t progressed any further.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Yankees and Cano are nowhere near a deal at this point. Though, Heyman did say that they could resume serious negotiations after the All-Star break.

Heyman suggests that Cano could be looking for a deal for as much as Alex Rodriguez‘s $275 million deal, but the Yankees see Cano in more of a David Wright $138 million, eight-year zone. That’s a significant gap and if one side doesn’t make a major concession it seems likely that Cano will indeed hit the open market this offseason.

Despite the fact that Cano is the Yankees best offensive player, by a lot, signing him to a huge deal has many obvious risks. The biggest is A-Rod himself. That contract did give them the 2009 World Series, but it has severely hampered the Yankees since. They will definitely not go to 10 years and probably shouldn’t even go to seven or eight considering Cano will be 31-years-old next year.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, A-Rod's white elephant contract keeps on bringing trouble. Not just because it was stupid regarding Rodriguez alone, now it's a huge burden for the Yanks with any significant player. The curse of A-Rod! Why shouldn't Cano get a $275 million contract when he's been better than the grossly overpaid bum that got it.

OMG...for $17.25 million per year after the game time skirt-chaser/loafer got $30 million. Say, goodbye Robinson. :eyebrows:

Cheers gents,

Merlot

The Red Sox had four extra base hits in the third inning tonight. The Yankees have had three extra base hits since Thursday.

Just heard on Baseball Central (RSN) that the Yankees are currently actively shopping Phil Hughes & Joba Chamberlain.

I'll bid a bag of balls for Hughes, a broken bat for Chamberlain.

I mean, really, what can they possibly expect for these stiffs? First off, they're both free agents in October, so no team out of the picture is going to be interested. A team in the race isn't going to give up anything of value from their active roster.

It's within the realm of possibility that Hughes could be offered a contract for next year, meaning he's worth at least what a draft pick might get a team. The problem here is that the contract would be worth $14 M, an awful lot for a pitcher as inconsistent as Hughes. My aunt Hildegard has more value than Chamberlain.

George King is reporting that Derek "Past a Diving" Jeter is likely to play for the light hitting, pitching poor Yankees this weekend. He's also reporting that the Office of the Commissioner has denied the Yankees' request that Jeter be allowed to bring his walker onto the field with him.

Apparently Captain Jetes will be activated today, despite very clear indications that he's going to be a serious liability. This from ESPN:

"Jeter struggled in the field Wednesday. He made an error on a throw to first in the fifth, bobbled a grounder on a blown force play at second in the third, and failed to get a lead runner at third base on another third-inning grounder."

He did, however, manage to get a hit in his nine at-bats. I figure Jeter is likely to cost the Yankees 6-8 games with his glove between now and September.

Back in May of 1989, a quarter of the way through the season, Mike Schmidt retired abruptly, unwilling to continue to play at a level far below his previous ability. Unfortunately, the history of the game is littered with the awful final seasons of a number of great players not ready to admit that their skills had declined below major league ability. Willie Mays hung on for several years too long. Steve Carlton continued to pitch until no one was willing to give him a job.

Apparently, Derek Jeter, clearly not ready to perform at a major league level, is a man with no pride, a man willing to put self ahead of team. So what if I can't field; so what if my bat isn't up to speed. I'm fucking Derek Jeter and I want to play. So, so sad.

Nava is having a good season so far. But .270/.280 hitters don't belong in the all-star game. If so, i'd say Melky Cabrera should also be in the all-star game. But he shouldn't be. Both are having similar seasons. I'm guess Nava will likely be hitting around .260 by the all-star break.
Looks like the good Doc has been taking his prognostication lessons at the Joe.T College of Divination.

Here's a link to noted Yankee fan Cliff Corcoran's ideal All Star team: http://mlb.si.com/2013/07/09/25-man-all-star-game-roster-american-league/#?sct=uk_t11_a6

OF: Daniel Nava, Red Sox
I have two centerfielders in my starting lineup, so I don’t need one on the bench. Nava is a switch-hitting on-base machine with some pop who can play in either corner or at first-base.

So much for the Cap'ns long anticipated return to Yankee land.

Sk,

How is it comedy? Injuries happen, did you forget last seasons red sox? Now there is some real comedy, it just goes to show the Yanks are a much deeper team than the red sox were last season, that and the fact they have better overall management from the top on down.

Nice quote from usa today on this friday...... this sums up exactly what i said above.

So, what have the Yankees gotten from those three interrupted comebacks?

Player / G / PA / HR / RBI / Avg. / OBP / Slg

Teixeira / 15 / 63 / 3 / 12 / .151 / .270 / .340

Granderson / 8 / 31 / 1 / 1 / .250 / .323 / .393

Jeter / 1 / 4 / 0 / 1 / .250 / .250 / .250

Total / 24 / 98 / 4 / 14 / .188 / .286 / .471

And the Yankees somehow are 50-42 and just 2 ½ games out of a playoff spot.

However, iggy, the Yankees still have $128,000,000 on their active roster. The Red Sox have $125,000,000 on their active roster. Look at the standings.

Good management, my sweet Irish ass. Even subtracting the injured players, the Yankees still have the third highest payroll in baseball, they're on the outside of the playoff hunt, and have the hardest part of schedule coming up after the break.

According to BP, their record is 3.3 games to the positive because of an easy first half schedule.

Oh silly me, confusing iggy with the facts once again.

There's no relevance at all to what any other team has done, past or present. Anyone thinking so is desperate for EXCUSES!

Out of a total of 276 possible games for 3 players costing the Yankees $52 million combined have played a total of 24 games, with 4 HR, 14 RBI, .188 BA, .286 OBP, .471 SLG. Throw in Alex with all of his zeros and it's a total waste of $75 million combined. Even when The Sox overpaid bums of early 2012 were doing badly at least you got something out of them. The Yankees hitters are a disgrace, and Cashman's player strategy has turned into a disaster.

You don't see the "comedy"..."now you funny too" - George Thorogood. You need one Bourbon, one Scotch, and one beer.

It seems that once again I have to remind everyone that the Official threads are to be kept free of flame posts and that all member, player and team names are to be spelled and written CORRECTLY, that includes the case of the letters. If you want to make flame posts, do it in the Free For All thread, not in this one.

BTW Iggy: do you have trouble obeying the rules posted by Mod 8. Grow up.

It's comedy because it's the Yankees!! Jeter's 39 years old and has no business drawing a check. Of course all last season you and your buddies under the rock now couldn't wait for the next day to speak of the Sox, now the shoe is on the other foot. What's wrong buddy boy, can't stand the heat then, stay out the kitchen!!

Absofuckinglutely, K. If Derek Jeter had a shred of pride or dignity, he'd have retired with grace instead of embarrassing himself like this.
