Where I belong.
One sportswriter tweeted yesterday that he's the best fielding third-baseman he's ever seen, including the great Brooks Robinson.
Are you sure he wasn't talking about Donaldson? He's the best defensive third baseman in the game. http://www.fieldingbible.com/the-winners.asp

The Jays lineup looks might impressive at the top, mighty weak at the bottom. Like the Sox, they need some pitching. Unlike the Sox, they don't have the chips or money to fill out the rotation.

In any case, both of our teams look to be, with the Orioles, the class of the division.

these deals by the Jays just might make the Red Sox overpay for some more players, especially if the Jays resign Melky.
By overpay, you mean like Sabathia, Teixeira, Rodriguez, and Ellsbury?

I beg to differ, the Blue Jays look solid, they are one starter away from having a very good looking rotation.

Not so much of nearly a peep out of you around here in this year of 2014 but seems you always find the time to say/report the exact same things in the baseball threads year after year and this "quiet" year for you is no different. But as usual you say it much to early in the offseason and by the time April rolls around Cashman makes you look silly as usual.

This season it will be NO different. Enjoy last place again lol. Minus a lucky season in 2013 where most rouge hosers had career years and/or escaped any serious injuries at all and nothing really went wrong, unlike every other MLB team, you won't be so lucky again and aside from the fat 3b you picked up and another shortstop, the hosers need a lot more pieces than what you have to even make the playoffs let alone win a WS. Start with 3 pitchers at the top of the rotation for one thing.

The Jays just got better and it should be a fun season battling it out for first and the wild card with them and Baltimore while the Rays take fourth and well, we know who will be brining up the REAR as usual. Welcome back tho rumpie, it is like Christmas come early and you do make me :)
Interesting piece today by Chad Jennings on the LoHud blog. He identifies the Yankees needs, in order of importance:

1. Rotation. See my last post. Not only are they short one, but all have health issues.
2. Shortstop.
3. Second Base
4. Bullpen
5. Third Base
6. Right Field

Which Cashman you talking about? The one who has thrown over $2 billion at players over the last 14 years and come up with one winner? Or a different Cashman?

Minus a lucky season in 2013 where most rouge hosers had career years
Oh, poor iggy, you guys keep saying this, and I keep asking "Which Sox players had career years?" and I never get an answer. Care to explain?

Lets just say we are all very lucky to have you in the baseball threads my good man, your wisdom keeps us  throughout the season (even when you disappear for the last 140 games in late april)

Cashman always makes your "November" predictions look silly and this year will be NO different ;)

(I bet Joe is doing a happy dance right now and not because of the trade the Jays just pulled off)

Donaldson just said in a interview that the Blue Jays right now have the most potent batting line up in baseball, you bet I'm doing the happy dance, baseball in Canada will be fun to watch again, I think that the Blue Jays are one solid pitching starter away from the World Series, would love to see them sign Scherzer or Lester but highly unlikely.

Always=once in the lats 14 years on Planet Iggy. One prediction that always works out right: iggy, in spite of the facts, says the same things over and over again. Maybe I should see if Joe's happy bookie will give me some action on iggy.

Exactly what you say every offseason only to be DEAD WRONG 2 out of the last 3 seasons with one "fluke" season in between where everything went perfect which never happens in baseball yet did once, to a fluke title. The FACT (wink wink) that the rouge hosers finished in the bottom of the east the season b4 and after proves that fluke of a season is exactly what it was and this season the same reality will set in, maybe the hosers climb to fourth but not likely any further.

Jays/Yanks
Orioles
Rays/hosers

Joe gave me the odds already and i do believe he was spot on last year and 2 seasons b4 about that team that plays in the big green dumpster known as fenway. Good Job ONCE AGAIN Mr.T :thumb:

I absolutely love what the Jays have done so far even tho i hate to see Lawrie go but Josh D is a better player at this point. Russell Martin will be HUGE for that pitching staff and will chip in some decent offensive production in that offensive friendly ballpark in Toronto.

If the Jays can somehow lure one of the top 3 free agent starters to Canada, look out boyzzzzzzz :D
Yadda, yadda, yadda.

BOYZ,

Yadda, yadda, yadda.

It speaks volumes that Joe.t is now running to the Blue Jays and away from the Yankees. However, though he has changed teams he hasn't changed his tune. Now his new team will win the Series. Same old Joe. First the Blue Jays and last week the Patriots. Who would have ever thunk the latter. Is he getting wiser? Is is he tired of getting sore washing the bookies car while handing over money all the time. The silence of the Yankees and their fans running away. That's a happy dance alright.

The trouble with the Jays is that despite very positive predictions in the last few years they still have a long string of 4th and 5th place finishes. Sure injuries are part of that, but even injured teams can finish better than 4th and 5th. Something else is wrong. We know they can score. The problem seems to be they cannot score and hold the opposition at the same time enough to do better.

Cheers,

Merlot

Merlot

You have this all wrong Merlot (as usual).

The Blue Jays look like a contending team for 2015. They will have a great lineup. If their pitching is half decent, the Blue Jays will be the favorite to win the AL East next year.

And why can't Joe root for more than 1 team? Is that not allowed in Merlot world?

As for your beloved Red Sox, they haven't look so good lately. I don't think adding 2 a little above average players for MEGA MEGA Bucks (more than $20 million per year  damn) will change much from last year.

So lets recap a bit here, shall we BOYZ?

The rouge hose sign another average shortstop to a horrific amount of money (oops) when they already have a future hof SS(according to a few merb baseball experts) in bogarts. And they also sign a out of shape 3b in pablo sandoval to another ridiculous amount of $ (oops x 2) Tell me please, what ever happened to that other future hall of famer and Mike Schmidt like, willie middlebrooks?

What's next, will they bring luis tiant out of retirement to shore up that awful starting rotation?

Yes, let's recap. Iggy spouts bullshit. I ask iggy to document his bullshit. Iggy ignores me, spouts more bullshit. I ask iggy to document his bullshit. Iggy ignores me, spouts more bullshit. Iggy bullshit: "The rouge hose sign another average shortstop." How many "average" shortstops have .873 career ops?
Iggy bullshit: "horrific amount of money." Ramirez: $88 M, A-Rod $300 M, Teixeira $180 M, Sabathia $250 M, Tanaka $155 M, Ellsbury $153 M. I guess on Planet Iggy, horrific must mean "bargain."

I have no problem with the current rotation if it stays put:

Dickey
Buehrle
Hutchison
Stroman
Haap

(Sanchez)

Sanchez is supposed to start this season, but if they can't sign a big-name closer (Miller or Robertson, among others), i wouldn't be surprised if Sanchez remains in the bullpen as their closer since the starting rotation doesn't really have any more spots left.

But they've been trying to trade R.A. Dickey for the past few weeks, so Sanchez would take over his spot should a trade happen.

What the Jays must do now is sign at least won big-name outfielder or re-sign Melky Cabrera, and sign a big-name closer. The problem is that they aren't willing to go 5+ years for a reliever. Not surprising, considering the B.J. Ryan fiasco several years ago.

Maicer Izturis will be the starting second baseman until the kid they got from Detroit is ready. If he falters or gets injuried again, Ryan Goins will take over. Great fielder, no bat.

Sounds like the old rumps is back in his normal form (gee that didn't take long).

BTW, lggy, when I respond to a rumps' post, he yells harassment.

When you don't respond to rumps, lggy, rumps yells abandonment.

Can't wait for the season to start for the real show.

I was going to say Sandoval and Sabathia could have a pie eating contest, but hasn't CC lost a lot of weight? I think panda would win that contest hands down, or pies down the hatch.

Nelson Cruz signs with Mariners

I just got word that Nelson Cruz has just signed a 4-yr/$57 million contract with the Seattle Mariners.

I expect that this recent signing will lead to Melky Cabrera signing with either the Jays or the Orioles in the not-too-distant future for a very similar amount.
