Because of is natural intensity, Parnell will never be an orange construction cone! It was absolutely touching the homage he did to Beliveau's wife ! She told him , last game after he got thrown out of the game, he was going to be great next game ! So that for sure calmed him down! At the end of PK 's contract , it still going to be a great deal!!

14 to go for 25 !
Let's see what the Habs can do in Ottawa ! It's just the beginning!

Los Angeles Kings forward Jarett Stoll arrested for drug possession

The veteran forward was in a Las Vegas casino when authorities caught him in the possession of cocaine & ecstasy. He's currently dating Erin Andrews & once dated the likes of Rachel Hunter & Paulina Gretzky, among many others. Therefore, the fact he's into the social drug scene shouldn't be too surprising.

One obstacle for Stoll is that he'll become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and teams will likely shy away from a veteran player in trouble with the law for drug possession.

In the early 80s the NHL suspended former Hab Ric Nattress for one year for possession of pot and hash. (later reduced to 30 games)

It will be interesting to see how things have evolved in the NHL.

On September 4, 1986, Salming was suspended by the NHL for the entire 1986–87 season for admitting in a newspaper interview that he had tried cocaine. However, Salming served just eight games of the suspension before being reinstated.

The Oilers get first pick in the draft..... Fuckin funny...
Now the need to do like the Leafs and clean out management and staff, trade Hull & Hopkins for goal and defense then start a new rebuild.... That's not gonna happen, Katz will let Mc.T & Lowe continue producing a losing team, McDavid's promising career could end up like the rest of their young guns.... On a bottom ranked team.
At least he did not go to Buffalo, hate it when a team trades off their talent to tank on purpose, McDavid would have had no one good to play with.

Just glad Buffalo did not get the #1 pick, that made my night! Mcdavid to Edmonton. Eichel to Buffalo, Hanifan likey to Arizona and Leafs finally get the big Centre they have not had since Sundin. Works for me! (would also be extremely happy to get Hanifan if AZ is dumb enuf to pass on him) Mitch Marner is a great pick as well.

Congrats STN!

The draft is a perverse thing: it REWARDS teams for being lousy and it PENALIZES players for being good. The players with the best potential are selected high up by the most pathetic teams - this year for example Edmonton 1st, Buffalo 2nd, Arizona 3rd and Toronto 4th. The best players soon to be drafted are probably all saying "Why didn't I "tank" so that I'd be drafted later and go to a much better team than the crappy one that will select me with a high pick?"

I have to agree, I would like to see a draft where every team that did not make the playoffs are in the draft and order gets pulled out of a drum, teams that make the playoffs pick last. All the draft picks Edmonton has had are wasted talent.

Most of the owners are more concerned with the bottom line than their team winning. Their advertising and rink revenue depends on the games being competitive. The bottom line is that parity is good for the bottom line of the owners.

The Penguins got Lemieux and Crosby due to their poor results in the respective preceding years and obviously greatly improved as a result. Eventually, even Leafs fans would get discouraged if they didn't have the hope of a saviour in the form of a high draft pick.

The best players soon to be drafted are probably all saying "Why didn't I "tank" so that I'd be drafted later and go to a much better team than the crappy one that will select me with a high pick?"

I'm sure you're not serious about this. The difference in salary between a first 1st and 2nd round pick is in the millions of dollars. Given the shortness of the average career, a budding star would be foolish to tank to play for a better team.

Ans the train dint stop at Ottawa ! Price was great , Anderson was even better. Weise made again the difference, two goals ! It took the overtime for this great physical game !

Again they gloriously found the way to win ! The Habs are confident, they can play the 0-1 game without panicking ! They can win the overtime again !

Todd McLellan & San Jose Sharks part ways

The Sharks & highly respected coach Todd McLellan have parted ways. McLellan's coaching staff was also let go. McLellan is one of the league's most highly respected coaches and won't stay unemployed very long. Rumours have been circulating for some time that the Flyers would love to have him coaching their team. Other suitors include Toronto, Buffalo & possibly Edmonton. One rumour that i heard today was that Detroit would also enter the game should Mike Babcock not renew his contract.

My money's on Philadelphia since i feel the Leafs have their mind set on Babcock. It would also surprise me to see Mike Johnston hold onto his job in Pittsburgh & Claude Julien's status in Boston is up in the air, so who knows.

I don't remember a single season where so many great coaching candidates will be available during the offseason.

Oh please let McLellan coach in Edmonton..

I was listening to a popular Mtl sports talk radio show yesterday and Georges Laracque was saying that Todd McLellan would be perfect for the Maple Leafs. J-C Lajoie, who hosts the show, then replied that Mike Babcock will be the Leafs' new coach once Detroit gets knocked out of the playoffs. Laracques then replied that McLellan would be a better fit for the Leafs than Babcock, and Lajoie replied that he didn't care....he was certain that the Leafs would hire Babcock.

To be honest, i'd be happy with both McLellan or Babcock. Both are highly regarded & respected among the coaching fraternity.

Then Lajoie mentionned that Claude Julien with the Leafs would be absolutely great to maintain the Leafs/Habs rivalry.

As for Julien, i'd be very surprised if Neely doesn't fire him. However, is Neely that much of a prick to let him hanging for the next few months and then let him go when most teams have already filled their coaching vacancies?

By the way, one name that is being circulated as a possible Leafs GM is Sean Burke. The Leafs had asked Arizona for permission to speak with Burke and Burke is supposedly very interested in the job if it was offered to him.

Another Burkie in Toronto? :D

Flyers may turn to Kings assistant David Payne

Philadelphia Flyers general manager Ron Hextall may turn to his old club in search of a new head coach.

Hextall, who used to work in the Kings' front office, could look at Los Angeles assistant coach Davis Payne, a source told Randy Miller of NJ.com.

From the report:

Meantime, the source offered up a dark-horse candidate for the Flyers' position, Los Angeles Kings assistant coach Davis Payne.

Payne, 44, was an assistant for the 2012-13 season in L.A., when Flyers GM Ron Hextall was assistant there under Dean Lombardi and before that was the St. Louis Blues' head coach for parts of three seasons, building a 67-55-15 record.

"Payne is a guy who got hired by (Kings GM) Dean Lombardi when Hextall was there and when he was in St. Louis his teams played hard for him," the source told NJ Advance Media. "Before that he won a championship in the East Coast League. That's a name that comes to mind who Hextall could go after."

While there's no shortage of potential coaching candidates available or soon to be made so, Hextall could get an early jump on things by speaking to Payne, with both the Flyers and Kings fully in offseason mode.

David Payne may be the guy Flyers hire

Strome would be huge for the rebuild going forward, then again so would Hanifan or Marner. I am fine with either of the three but Strome would be my first choice.
The only stumbling block for Toronto to get Strome is that no one has a clue who Arizona will pick. Two other mock drafts (which i will post later) have them taking Hanifan & Toronto taking Strome.

Toronto currently has 2 first-rounders. I have a feeling that they'll have more of those come draft day. I wonder if Buffalo could be tempted into swapping their #2 pick for all of Toronto's first-rounders. From all accounts, the differences between Connor McDavid & Jack Eichel are very slim. I think Buffalo just may bite if Toronto (or someone else) approaches them with a big, tempting offer since Buffalo believed all along they'd wind up with McDavid and practicaly threw Eichel under the bus when they found out Edmonton won the lottery.
