The more years that go by in which the Canadians do not win the cup, the more upset you get at Doc.

Mr. Holliday, be prepared for more of this from gohabbiego because i dont see the Canadians winning squat for another 22 years at least.

Meanwhile the Canadians are looking to aquire some scoring, they also need a top centre because word has it that Galchenyuk is not a fit at centre under Therrien.
Noticed you conveniently deleted your You've heard it here first: post.

Once again, you've been exposed as a complete fraud!

Trust me, most people i know would actually rather be out of the playoffs than in the playoffs. Only one team wins the Stanley Cup and for all the other teams making the playoffs, the entire tournament seems like a total waste of time once the season is officially over.

Maybe that's why Babcock really signed in Toronto - an extra 2 months of holidays every year ...

With 50 million he can buy a few new marbles, oh wait you mean brains? I think he is smarter than any of us and todays contract proves that!

I can't believe a McGill graduate is going to coach the Toronto Maple Laughs!

Babcock has lost his marbles!

Toronto may have signed Babcock, but realized his contract demands didn't merit the return. Terry Pegula also made it known he'd overbid everyone & give the Big Cock all he wanted. How do you expect him to bring passion to his coaching when it's obvious he's only in it for the money??

Many teams realized he's no better than the likes of Hitchcock, McLellan & even Therrien. Heck, some believed he was heading to Philly until Hextall surprised everyone and hired a college hockey no-name named Hakstol. And let's be honest: Big Cock hasn't really done much in Detroit over the past 8 years and that team certainly isn't ready to contend for the Cup for another 5 years or more.

I hope he enjoys his millions & living in Buffalo!

Hi Doc. Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed this post of yours from yesterday:thumb:

Also I like that Shanahan is not going crazy to sign Babs. I think he is the wrong guy to lead the rebuild in TO. Whats great is that he wont be signing in Montreal either.

Hi Ig. My compliments to you for this very insightful post that you made yesterday. Good analysis:thumb:

Welcome to the Mecca Babs! and to the Centre of the Hockey Universe!!! Win here and you will own the city forever! Phaneuf will stay but Kessel is as good as gone most likely. Whatever Babcock/Shanahan decides, Leafs fans will put our faith in the dynamic duo!

Will the NEW "dynamic duo" have as much "success" as the PREVIOUS "dynamic duo" of Burke and Nonis? Yes, I'm guessing that the great Leaf tradition, now a proud 48 years old, will continue:thumb:

GREAT day in Hockey today! Simply GREAT!

I'm truly pleased to see your happiness. The last time you were this thrilled was when Shanny and the great Dave Nonis landed Nathan Horton, and we all know what a lasting impact HE will have on the Leafs.

Me thinks that Todd McLellan is kicking himself right now for not being more patient, and the Edmonton Oilers are doing cartwheels for signing him just in time!

Really? "Me" thinks that McLellan will have FAR more success in Edmonton than Babcock will in Toronto.

Glad to see the Mods doing a fine job like always :thumb:

I also think we are witnessing one of those famous late nights we used to see regularly in the past! Go easy now, you will get another coach, although not the best in the world, he now resides in Lovely Toronto ;)
MISTER Cairo did not delete his post - a mod did.

Rumour has it that Guy Boucher and Paul MacLean might be coming to TOR as assistants under Iron Mike.

If he wins in TO, he could go down as the best ever one day and a sure fire hall of famer (already)

Unfortunately for your little pipedream, the key word in your sentence is "if".

It is far, FAR more likely that Babcock has taken the first step towards totally tarnishing his reputation. First, he proved that he has no loyalty to the great franchise that is very largely responsible for creating his reputation. Next, he went on his Bab-tour trying to find potential buyers..only to discover that the only teams that really had any interest were the totally woebegotten Sabres and Leafs. Finally, he sold out and grabbed the 50 million bucks to move to Hockey Hell and watch his win-loss stats start to drastically take a tumble.

The Leafs did what they always do: throw a ridiculous amount of money and a ridiculously long contract at someone - remember Phaneuf? Kessel? Komisarek? David Freakin' Clarkson? (or even Burke, Nonis, and Nathan "Never Play Again" Horton). Kenny Holland was unwilling to pay more than 4 million a year (and even THAT would have been too much) and unwilling to commit to more than 5 years (which also would have been too much) but the inexperienced Shanahan, tired of all the arrows being directed his way after a typical Leaf year of total failure, panicked and offered a ridiculous 8 year contract for the joke sum of 50 mill. No matter WHO runs the show in Hogtown, they ALWAYS get it wrong, as they have been doing consistently for a laughable 48 years and counting.

Canadiens (please note correct spelling): no Cup in 22 years.

Leafs: no Cup in 48 years.

Yes, with the Leafs he'll be earning about a million dollars a month: 6.25 million per "year"...but a "year" for the Leafs is normally about 6 months and then it's off to the golf course. Pack an extra set of clubs Mike!

When did this become the free for all thread?

A little sensitive are we? Wait and see what happens with the Leafs the next couple of years. Personally, I'm REALLY looking forward to the next soap opera unfolding. How long did it take for Toronto's love affair with Burke to turn sour? Kessel? Phaneuf? Komi? Clarkson? Carlyle?

It wouldn't bug me at all. As I said, I hope he leaves after being this disrespectful. Babcock's a good coach but the Wings would have been as successful without him and will continue to be successful without him. He's now worn out his welcome and Blashill needs to be brought up to start the next dynasty.

Meanwhile, as I have also said before, Toronto could be coached by a TRIUMVIRATE of Babcock, Scotty Bowman, and the ghost of Toe Blake, and they would STILL rot. Toronto is the definition of failure and the Leafs are the absolute worst franchise not just in hockey but in any sport in North America.

This was posted by MISTER Cairo on May 12. A mere 8 days later, the FIRST part of the wish has been granted. Now we need the second part: hire Blashill!

The fact that Babcock went to the Leafs made May 20 even better, as it will provide great entertainment for the next several years. Great stuff!
