Nice comeback at the Bell Centre tonight, Canadians first overall in the NHL. :thumb:

The Habs are indeed doing very well. Congratulations are in order Joe T.

Detroit put up a respectable showing. Things might have been different if Datsyuk's highlight reel goal had not been waved off. The good news is that the Magic Man showed in his first game back that he still has the magic!

Meanwhile Zetterberg, who was having an MVP type season until injuries ruined it last year, is again demonstrating that he is the best leader and one of the best overall players in the league. He has had a hand in ALL of Detroit's goals in their last three games!

Kudos to these two Original Six teams. They, along with Chicago, Boston and the Rangers have been showing in the past several years that 5 of the Original Six are still worthy squads.

Highlight reel goal by PK Subban on Saturday against the Colorado.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports-content/hockey/nhl/game/1443063/recap/

Joey your link was not working, so I am posting another link to this amazing goal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RczFm3w3lgg

If you notice the Colorado defenseman blows a tire mainly because he takes a terrible angle back which causes him to collide with the net. Would he have stopped or slowed Subban if he had taken a good angle? My guess is he would have had to whack out his stick to trip Subban and commit a penalty to stop the play. Subban flew out of the penalty box like a bat released from hell, and looked too fast for him.

My Oilers won a game......................... 1-4 Yeee Haaaaa. The past few seasons they came out strong and died shortly after, maybe a reverse this time, doubt it but keeping my fingers crossed. Scrivens sucks as a goalie and Fasth is a good backup. I would have traded my first round pick plus thrown in Nail Yakupov and see what I could get.

I think Craig MacTavish is one of the worst GM's in the NHL.

Sure he has drafted some great players - Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov, Draisaitl (Gagner) - cause they finished in bottom 5 of the league and got REALLY lucky in the draft lottery.

But, he is over estimating their overall value: it is deteriorating as each game goes by. Eberle or Nugent-Hopkins are worth 1st round pick + compensation. But MacTavish probably thinks he can get two 1st rounders, haha.

Arcobello is the Oilers most under-rated, over-achieving, best two way player.

There are a LOT of good forwards in the league!

Maybe I should put the best DOZEN instead of the best 10. Then the list could be - again in no particular order -

Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Bergeron, Crosby, Toews, Stamkos, Ovechkin, Malkin, Getzlaff, Kopitar, Kane, Tavares.

And that's STILL leaving out players like Giroux and Perry, not to mention past-their-prime greats like St. Louis, Iginla and Jagr and up-and-comers like Seguin and Benn (plus of course Nyquist and Tatar).

I'd say that of the 21 names above at least 11 will be locks for the Hall of Fame.

Something STRANGE happened tonight: Detroit scored 4 goals but Zetterberg "only" registered points on 3 of them. What the hell happened?

On a more serious note, congrats to the Wings on a great comeback. Down 3-1 after 2, they tied it in the third and won it in overtime.

As for the great Zetterberg: 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, plus 2, 2 shots, 2 hits, 63% on faceoffs - just another day at the office for the best leader in hockey!

Pav? 2 assists in 2 games played this season.

But come on Goose: it's time to go on another scoring spree.

Speaking of the Edmonton Oilers, they just sent their 19 year old defenseman Darnell Nurse back to the OHL. I have been keeping an eye on Darnell because his sister, Kia Nurse, is the most highly touted freshman on the defending NCAA champion UConn Huskies women's basketball team. Former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb is the uncle of these kids, so the family is achieving athletic prominence in 3 sports!!!!! I think the father was a WR in the CFL as well.

BOYZZZ!

Hoo Huuuum. The Bruins had no trouble beating Toronto again though Boston has been pretty unsteady. This is getting almost BORING. The Leafs should really market themselves as Bruins door mats. It would have made them a fortune, especially in the last few years. Talk about BLOWING the golden opportunity in that game 7.

Post-game quote from the esteemed Randy Carlyle, head coach of the Leafs: "Frustration, anger...that is the two things that were front-and-center from a coaching staff's perspective."

Gee maybe the love affair is coming to an end between coach/players/fans?

It's not getting "BORING" however...at least for anyone who enjoys either soap opera or comedy. NBC has Saturday Night Live, CBC has the far superior comedy of the Leafs on Saturday night hockey games.

Thumbs up to P. J. Stock for showing the replay of Datsyuk's great (but disallowed) goal against the Habs from the other night.

Thumbs down to whoever put Strombo in as the main man!

BTW, congrats to GHG, Joe T. and other Habs fans: they're off to their best start since the 61-62 season!

Detroit ain't doing that much better. But you can't blame the players, considering they're all aware that the coach they're currently playing for won't be there next season. Must be hard to play for someone you know who'll be abandoning them come next season.

Detroit deserved a better fate last night, though. They grossly dominated the Flyers, but the Flyers were more opportunistic. But Detroit should know better: you can always outshot an opposing team, but it doesn't mean anything when you can't put the puck in the net.
