Hey Sol Tee Nutz

I really like what I see in toughness out of young Darnell Nurse

Wish we had someone like him in NY
Dylan McIlrath is like him, but not the player that Nurseis

Good Edmonton draft pick

Congrats to MISTER Mike Babcock (aka the worlds greatest hockey coach) on his first victory as Toronto head coach over his former team in detroit tonight. Jonathon "Big Game" Bernier was the first star and well deserved as he stopped all 37 shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season. The win hurts dEtroits chances to make the playoffs and this is the first of MANY future wins for MISTER Mike Babcock over his former team, bank on it :thumb:

My pick to win the cup.....Strictly Sentimental here

Washington Capitals, was never much of a Ovie fan early in his career but he has won me over with his generosity towards people and oh yea, he is a pretty damn good hockey player as well. Also because i know how much a certain sexy blonde Russian girl in Mtl loves him and how could i not root for the Caps for her? :)

Florida Panther's because of one guy simply named JAGR!

Pittsburgh Penguins, Always liked Sidney Crosby but also because of Kessel, he deserves it, also for my friend Panthere!

Every Russian girl i've met in Toronto and Montreal loved Ovechkin. For whatever reason, Malkin didn't do a thing for them. I haven't yet met a Russian girl who likes Galchenyuk, but he's in reality an American (who was raised in Russia).

I'm picking the Sharks vs the Habs in the Stanley Cup final. Ooops! The habs won't make the playoffs, so i guess i'll pick the powerful Capitals against the Sharks.

Smuler, i think they may have paid too high of a price for Eric Staal. He wasn't even the best Staal on the Carolina team this season. Maybe next season he'll be able to re-vitalize his career on a new team, who knows. I'll bet there's some team out there who'll likely overpay him, as usual.

Eric Staal

13 games 1 goal

He skates as if he has cement on his skates

I agree. Personally speaking, he should retire. Yet, there's some idiot GM out there who'll give him a big multiyear contract next summer.

Let's keep bitching about him. He just scored again

Not One Canadian team made the playoffs this year

It's disastrous to the Canadian companies who own the broadcasting rights during the playoffs. Many Canadians will tune out to the playoffs this season and will instead concentrate on other sports like watching the Jays and following the Raptors' playoffs run. Personally, if Mtl and Toronto aren't playing, i'm not interested and won't watch much hockey this spring.

Look behind you.
Not just the broadcasting companies but the pubs in the cities that playoffs are in, in Drummondville the Cage Du Spa ( sports cage ) is extremely packed when the Canadiens play, Edmonton's Whyte ave area is jam packed during the playoffs ( ok, many years ago )

I just heard from a very reliable source that an announcement may be made within the next two weeks that the Carolina Hurricanes will be sold to Quebecor and relocated to Quebec City for next season. The announcement will likely be made soon after the regular season has ended.

The reason for the sale is that the Hurricanes haven't made any money since they last won the Cup nearly a decade ago and current owner Peter Karmanos has not been able to find a local buyer(s) for the North Carolina market. The sale and relocation will be reminiscent of the Atlanta Thrashers/Winnipeg Jets transaction and resulting move just a few years ago.

In other news, don't be surprised if the NY Islanders also relocated within the next couple of years. The sightlines are absolutely awful for a hockey game, the players absolutely hate playing not only in Brooklyn, but hate the ice, and it's a well-known fact that many NHLers have a no-trade-to-the-Islanders when they sign new contracts.

This would be FFFF-------ANTASTIC!!!! It would also mean that at least one team in the province of Quebec would have a shot at the playoffs next season what with Carolina's crop of youth coming soon. Skinner would have lots of hot young Quebecoise GF's in QCity.

Doc, if this plan comes to fruition, we need to be there the first time the Leafs play in gorgeous Quebec City Mon Ami!

Habs rumoured to be close to signing Siberian phenom

by Stu Smart, ACL News

The Montreal Canadiens are rumoured to be ver close to signing 19-year old Siberian hockey phenom Sasha Trizankov. The 5'6, 140 lbs Trizankov had been scouted heavily by the Canadiens over the past two years and the fact team executive Rick Dudley has just returned from a trip to Russia has only added to the rumours.

Nicknamed "The Siberian Express", Trizankov has been an offensive superstar in the SHL (Siberian Hockey League) since the age of 17. Small of stature but very quick, he'd fit right in with the current Montreal roster. When asked about Trizankov, former NHL and KHL coach Mike Keenan admitted that he had not heard anything about the young Siberian during his time coaching in Russia.

"Until recently, i must admit that i had never heard about the kid", answered Keenan. "But after doing a bit of digging lately, all reports about his offensive skills have been positive."

According to local french sports media guru Rejean Tremblay, his sources have told him that the announcement of Trizankov's signing will occur a week from now just in time for him to be introduced to the home crowd for the final game next week. Whether the diminutive centre will play is yet unknown. According to a European source, he would not be surprised to see Trizankov play on one of Montreal's top two lines next season. "He'd be a natural centering a line along Max Pacioretty and Alex Galchenyuk", said the source. "He has amazing offensive skills, skates like the wind and he's extremely mature for a player his age."

The Canadiens will miss the playoffs next season and it is no secret that the team is expected to make drastic changes to its current line-up. It is expected that both Brendan Gallagher and PK Subban will return to the lineup before the end of the regular season. And although Carry Price is currently accompanying the team on their Florida road trip, he is not expected to play again this season. A team source indicated taking Price along for the trip would be good for team morale and was told Price was planning to visit Disney World, which he still had never done. Price is also looking forward to become a father for the first time in a month or so.

Steven Stamkos out 1-3 months with blood clot in arm

CBS Sports said:
Steven Stamkos did not play in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday night due to what the team called an upper body injury before the game.

After the game general manager Steve Yzerman addressed the situation and it turned out to be significantly worse than just an upper body injury. Yzerman announced that Stamkos has a blood clot issue in his right arm and will undergo surgery Monday to help correct it.

The team said in a statement that Stamkos is expected to fully recover and that he should be able to return to the ice in 1-3 months. That timeline could obviously keep him out for the entire postseason.

WOW, not good......

What's ironic is that it's the same problem their backup goalie had earlier in the season. It took him two months to come back. Bruins defenceman Adam McQuaid had the same thing last year. My guess is that Stamkos' season is over. I can't see Tampa advancing far into the playoffs. What hurts Tampa even more is that one of their best defencemen (Anton Strolman) broke his tibia and he's out for the rest of the year.

In other news, we learned yesterday that star forward Pavel Datsyuk of the Red Wings will possibly retire from the NHL and head back to Russia. It's been described as a 'family matter'. It's also no secret that Datsyuk has always wanted to end his professional hockey career in his homeland. If he has indeed played his last NHL game next week, his salary will still count on the cap next season due to his age at the time he signed his recent contract.

John Scott has been called up by the habs. A nice way for him to finish his career, and end the movie they are making about him. The habs fans will have something to cheer about; MVP!

He should have been recalled much earlier in order to change the mood around the team. Even if they played him 5 minutes a game, the attention he would have attracted would have been good for the rest of the team. Contrary to popular believe, he would not have been a distraction. He would have had a reverse effect and the players wouldn't have felt so much pressure to perform. The presence of John Scott would have relieved a lot of pressure from their shoulders.

Many in the media have expressed their shock at Scott being recalled. Especially the french media. Instead maybe they should have been more vocal about Michel Therrien coming back next season. I also feel that the french media has given Marc Bergevin a free pass throughout this miserable season. Would they have been so kind towards him had his name been Mark Farmer instead?

I just checked the standings and was surprised to see that the Boston Bruins are now out of a playoffs spot. Right now it looks like it'll be a battle for two playoffs spot between the Bruins, Flyers and Red Wings. It should be a very entertaining end to the regular season.
