Yup! was watching it on centre ice. The best part about tonights game was the Oilers stopped tanking for one night and won a game and now the Leafs have the best odd's at the #1 overall pick in June (at the momnet)

Babs, keep on playing Garett Sparks for the next two games!

Howard leads Red Wings past Flyers 3-0 last night.
Detroit inches closer to 25th consecutive playoff berth.

NHL.com said:
Detroit (41-28-11) is third in the Atlantic Division, two points ahead of the fourth-place Boston Bruins and two points ahead of the Flyers, who hold the second wild card from the Eastern Conference and have a game in hand.

The Red Wings can clinch a playoff berth with a win in any fashion at the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

Philadelphia plays the Toronto Maple Leafs at Wells Fargo Center on Thursday.

IF the Bruins don't make the Playoffs for the second straight year, is it time for Claude Julien to go?

Boston.com said:
It was less than two weeks ago when the Bruins held that whole pregame gala to honor Julien as the franchise’s winningest head coach, bestowing the man with a trip to Walt Disney World and congratulations from some of his fellow Boston professional coaches and athletes. It will most likely wind up being his parting gift.

I believe he will be fired if the Bruins miss the Playoffs.

Former coach Jacques Demers was hospitalized overnight and diagnosed with having suffered a stroke. His condition has been described as stable. Makes you wonder if the current habs debacle hasn't contributed to this issue.

I knew I could count on the Leafs to beat the Oilers to last place, Philly need to win and they play the Leafs next. The GEO will still luck out and get the first pick anyways ( we need it for trade bait )

Would not surprise me one bit if this happens lol...some have all the luck but do not always use it to their advantages. Yakupov, Ted Nugent-Hopkins and Eberle all should have spent time or more time in junior and or the AHL. I think you would agree with me on that as you seem to be a astute hockey fan.

I as a Leafs fan am happy with a top 5 pick as that is the lowest the Leafs can fall to and the first 7-8 guys in the draft are all expected to be franchise pieces, lets hope the habbies pick 9th :)

Travis Hamonic has asked all season for a trade closer to home
I'm sure the Oilers ( or any team ) would love to have him

The Oilers should get between first and third pick, I really hope they trade their pick and try and get some good defense, throw in Hall and Hopkins ( reason I like Eberle is that when there was talk of Hall, Hopkins or Eberle being traded he was the only one to say he wanted to stay ). Management says between the three two will be gone. Yak should also be off the roster when the puck drops next season.
Next year the Leafs should be a far better team if they draft smart and they have enough early picks.

I would think you are correct about 2-3 of Hall (doubt he gets moved but i wish he would to the Leafs!) Ted Nugent-Hopkins, Eberle and Yak being gone by puck drop next October and for Oil fans sake, they better be because it means upgrading the Defense.

The Leafs have super scout, super eye for talent, Mark Hunter in charge of scouting so no doubt they will draft well from now on just as they have the last few years, look to the Marlies amazing season thus far for proof of that, of course many good trades and signings have helped them as well but it is nice to see some good young home grown talent again in blue and white down on the farm and at the big league level. Also there is the expectation that the very talented russian defenseman Nikita Zaitsev will be coming over next season and that helps the Leafs fill one spot on D that they deperately need. Time will tell how good the kid can be but he is expected to be the real deal.

If the Leafs can get one of Auston Matthews or one of the two big swedish wingers expected to go 2nd and 3rd in the draft, and are able to sign Stamkos, look out, the rebuild just excelerated ten fold. Imagine one of the top three pics plus Stamkos, a full year of Nylander and Marner, Hyman, plus getting back healthy players lost to end the season, the russian dman mentioned above and a couple free agent signings, the Leafs will be a playoff team next season in all likelihood, and most of that will happen, maybe not Stamkos but then again, MAYBE! Meanwhile Montreal's season depends on a healthy Carey Price.

Leafs have one more game left and even if they win, they'll finish either last or second-last depending on Edmonton who also has a game left to play.

As i've mentioned in the past, i have no problem with the Leafs not finishing last. It might even be better for them if they don't wind up with the first overall pick.

There's no guarantee they'll win the lottery even if they finish last. It would be so disappointing if they did finish last and yet lose the lottery. And should they lose the lottery or not wind up with the first pick, they could pick up more top draft picks by trading down.

It's no secret that Mark Hunter would prefer drafting one of his prized London Knights prospects instead of the two Finns. Mathew Tkachuk is not likely to be drafted any better than 4th. As i mentioned in the past, the Leafs could be tempted into swapping their pick (#2 or 3 overall if it's the case) if the teams in the #3 or #4 slots would also be willing to include a 2nd rounder or a prospect in the deal. If they don't bite and Toronto winds up making the deal with the #5 spot instead, they could keep on trading down if Tkachuk gets claimed earler, and so on. It could mean that the Leafs still get a top 10 pick, plus a whole bunch of 2nd round picks and/or prospects if they keep trading down.

April 30th is the big day when teams will find out in which spot they'll be chosing and which three teams are the lottery winners (this season there are not one, but three lotteries).

The Leafs will not trade out of the top 10, that you can be sure of unless a mind boggling offer which never happens anymore. I would be totally fine with Tkachuk however, or either of the two Swedes or of course the obvious, Auston Matthews. Either way the Leafs will get another blue chip prospect to go along with the great young talent coming up soon. Great days are ahead MISTER H!

So, is Edmonton going to beat Vancouver or Toronto going to beat New Jersey? They both lose and TO gets the best chances. As I said before, hope Edmonton trades their pick for D.

That's why Sparks will be between the pipes for Toronto. Last night, Toronto wanted to play the part of spoilers and not be accused of deliberately tanking, so they played Bernier.
