Lol. SI knows about as much about Hockey as ESPN does and that ain't much.

Exactly. ESPN probably knows more about NHL hockey than Si.

EB, want to put some money on it?? I'm telling you this kid from CT will get drafted in the 2nd round or later.

Looks about right. Montreal is crazy to pick another Michael McCarron clone instead of Sergachev if he is still there at #9. Brown wont help them for 2-3 years and they need offense NOW so go with the better player in Sergachev who could be a strong #2 in a few years. Being a Leafs fan however, I would love for Le Canadian to pick Brown :)

Subban watch

As i've been predicting over the past 3-4 months, it's very likely that the overrated and overpaid PK Subban will be traded between now and June 30th. Up to two days ago, i estimated chances to be 50-50 that this would happen. Now i'm saying there's a 75% chance of him being moved. If not tonight, then within the next few days. At least one team (Vancouver) has admitted to be actively negotiating with the habs in order to obtain him. The habs have also stated that over 10 teams have contacted them about Subban's availability.

Two other teams rumoured to be after Subban are Edmonton and Winnipeg. I've been predicting for three to four months that Edmonton would be the perfect trade partner for the habs. The Oilers have the players it would take in order to get Subban away from Mtl. Marc Bergevin has supposedly told Peter Chiarelli that the #4 overall pick and Leon Draisaitl have to be included in the trade. Rumours abound that he's also asked for young stud defenceman Darnell Nurse. Edmonton wants to hang on to Draisaitl since he'll only make $900 000 next season. They'd rather get rid of RNH, Yakupov or Eberle. They also want to hang on to Darnell Nurse. Edmonton is also very thin at defence, so why would they want to give one away? They'd prefer sending them a prospect instead of Nurse.

I can't see Montreal trading Subban to the Canucks, mostly because they don't have the players Montreal would want in order to make the trade.

Winnipeg is an interesting proposition. They have a lot of young players Montreal would be interested in, but Mtl is also after a top 5 overall pick. There's no way in hell Winnipeg trades them Patrick Laine!!!!

So if the evenings ends and Subban is still with the habs, then don't be surprised if he gets traded within the next coming days to some other team not mentioned. The only reason why a trade would happen today is if Mtl gets their hands on that top 5 pick in order to draft Pier-Luc Dubois. It also wouldn't surprise me if they picked up Matthew Tkachuk instead if the trade is made with Edmonton. Personally, i'd go with the pedigree: Tkachuk.

Should be a great draft..very exciting to see if some established players will be involved in deals before/during the draft

Too bad my Rangers will be sitting in the back of the room twiddling their fingers

I hope I'm wrong :couch2:

Why I believe PK Subban will be traded:

-His no-trade/no-movement clause kicks in on July 1st. This will be the habs' last window of opportunity to trade him.
-He's overpaid for what he brings to the team. His cap number ($9 million) is a cap-killer. For another 6 years!!!!
-He's a huge distraction around the team. It's well-known half the players can't stand him.
-The coach (Michel Therrien) isn't a big fan of his. Therrien is back coaching and he's the GM's good buddy. He sees him as a selfish player who doesn't often listen to his instructions.
-The team is concerned that he's more preoccupied with all types of off-ice activities instead of focusing on the team and his game.
-His own players didn't nominate him for the King Clancy award, which was a huge slap in the face considering he donated $10 million to the Children's Hospital last season and does tons of charity work.
-Subban didn't attend the end-of-the-year team party. He's the only habs player who did not attend.
-Marc Bergevin admitted he's been listening to offers, although denying he's shopping him around. He also added that at least 10 teams have contacted him recently about Subban. And let's be honest, he never wanted to sign Subban to such a huge contract. He was overruled by Geoff Molson on this issue. It won't happen again.
-Vancouver GM Jim Benning admitted yesterday that Marc Bergevin has been actively shopping Subban around and that he's interested in making his acquisition.
-A souce very close to Edmonton confirmed the habs were in talks with Edmonton and had already told them which player(s) would have to be included in the deal, along with their #4 overall pick.
-And lastly, because I TOLD YOU HE'D BE TRADED 3-4 MONTHS AGO!!!!

Logan Brown is a much better prospect than Michael McCarron. He's got more foot speed, better hands and he's got the pedigree. His father is former Nordiques and Leafs defenceman Jeff Brown, who also starred with the Sudbury Wolves of the OHL.

The player Montreal should draft at the 9th position if he's still available is Tyson Jost. He's been compared to Jonathan Toews and from what i'm told also has great leadership skills, which is one department the habs are sorely lacking off.

With much fanfare , you also said Babcock would sign in Buffalo  (before you deleted it) then you said Galchenyuk wouldn't sign and be traded last summer  (you probably deleted that one too)

Nope, never did that! I'd been saying for more than a year that Babcock would sign with the Leafs!!

And i know at least one big Red Wings fan who left this board out of frustration the day Babs left Detroit!!! ;)

As for Chucky, all i mentioned at the time was that there was 'a chance' that he'd be traded last summer. A 'chance', nothing more.

The NHL has received two different complaints in regards to tampering by Vancouver GM Jim Benning. No doubt it has to do with the fact he mentioned yesterday that the Canucks would actively go after Stamkos and Lucic once they become UFA on July 1st. I expect the league will give him a very stiff fine.

In other news, habs GM Marc "Bargain Bin" Bergevin is furious at Benning for telling the media yesterday that he was in active discussions with the habs for PK Subban and even mentioned that the habs were actively shopping Subban around. Bergevin has denied ever shopping Subban around and only said teams had been calling him about his availability and not the other way around.

This likely means there's no way now Bergevin will trade him to Vancouver.

My source at the draft just texted me to inform me he's learned the habs have completed a blockbluster trade. More than one team involved, according to my reliable source. Will Subban be involved?? More to come.

My source also told me that one of agent Pat Brisson's players may be involved. He's Galchenyuk's agent, but also Cam Fowler's agent, among others.

Word is that UConn freshman hockey player Tage Thompson will be selected in the first round of the NHL Draft. Expect him to go in the 20s, not sign and return to UConn for his sophomore year where he will join fellow sophomore Maxim "Max" Letunov, already a 2014 2nd round pick of the St. Louis Blues.

and that's exactly the team that picked him ... in the first round
