There's a lot of ways to deal with a crushing loss. This choice is an embarrassment, no matter how much it hurts her or how much anyone tried to excuse it because of her great inner competitive fire. Unless there was a decisive bad call somewhere she has to realize anyone can lose on a given day. Somehow Sweden's strategy was better. The better team doesn't always win. Deal with it. Don't blame the other team for handling you better on that day.

I agree. Take last night's game between Brazil and Australia. The Aussies nearly upset Brazil, who had dominated the game offensively.

I had not read what happened. So she gave up 4 goals in a shoot out while the opposition goalie gave up 3. Clearly she failed in a round that was 100% up to her skills and wanted to blame the outcome on Sweden's defensive strategy. It makes her look very bad. Her hyper-competitiveness makes her as good as she is but obviously handling losing is the big downside of that. I know she's crushed but shame on her for blaming the other team for anything, especially since game planning is just as important a skill as athleticism and every athlete knows that.

Does Solo have mental issues? Maybe. But I think about all those times losing teams and fans of losing teams used the cheating excuse the same reasons as Solo made her embarrassing statement.

Following conflicting reports — including the IOC denying any incident took place — Lochte himself confirmed with TODAY's Billy Bush that he and the other swimmers were robbed at gunpoint.


"We got pulled over, in the taxi, and these guys came out with a badge, a police badge, no lights, no nothing just a police badge and they pulled us over," Lochte said. "They pulled out their guns, they told the other swimmers to get down on the ground — they got down on the ground. I refused, I was like we didn't do anything wrong, so — I'm not getting down on the ground.

That's Taylor Pischke, a Canadian beach volleyball player. I saw her at last year's PanAm Games in Toronto. She caught my eye right away! I was hoping to see her at the Olympics, but her team got beat out by the two other Canadian teams that went to Rio.
