Nice prediction Sam. I am a bit surprised you see Columbia go such a long way. I see Argentina - France final. Won by Argentina because I want and hope to see Messi go all the way.

My upset to go all the way to the final? Belgium.

The team I hope upset everyone... Mexico!! I love Mexico so much I will watch and just pray they make it far far far!! By the way Mexico celebrated their captain's birthday 2 weeks ago with a big orgy with many sp hehe Who the fuck am I to judge them ;)

Cheers,

Can anyone recommend a good spot in Downtown to watch the WC games and maybe have some breakfast and bloodys or beer?

Good picks Sam21. I agree with most of them except for the WC final. Based on sheer individual talent, France should be favored on paper. They are loaded. However, Hugo Lloris their national GK has historically had problems in international caps against Germany. So I'm picking Germany to successfully defend its WC and win it all in the final against France.

Likewise, I think Messi deserves it. I piked Brazil vs Argentina for the final with Argentina the winner.

Heard on the radio this morning that the 2026 World Cup bid was secured for North America only after Trump wrote 3 letters to the FIFA head promising there would be no immigration detentions/hassles for any foreign athletes from any foreign countries. Once these assurances were given, bid was accepted. So we unfortunately must thank Trump, and if we don’t, he will probably remind us to do so.

Surprised we never bumped into each other ;) I go there once in a while. Large screen. Skirt of some waitress can make you miss part of the game your watching ;)

An epic game today between Spain and Portugal. Iniesta proved how fucking awesome player he is. He is a clutch player on the field. Ronaldo is ronaldo, just brillant.

When EB published the top 50 player I was a bit surprised at some of the choice. One of them was Pique. No way on earth if Pique was not the husband of Shakira he would have made top 50!!
Today he gave the draw because of a stupid fault with few minutes left. Ronaldo takes the free kick and scored on an absolute beauty shot! My god!!

Tomorrow France plays as well as Argentina. Men I love it!

Cheers,

No such luck for the Liverpool goalie in the Champions League final, guessing he won't be in the line up for Germany.

Are you kidding me? Karius was not even considered for a roster spot on the German national team. When it comes to goalkeepers, Germany is loaded. Neuer is arguably the world's best GK until he was shelved with injuries. He claims he's fit to start against Mexico on Sunday. His backup is Ter Stegen who's also Barcelona's GK. Not too shabby.

France will have to play much better if they want to beat team like Spain, Portugal or Germany! It was not very good. Kanté was quite good midfield, he saved the team a few time with all these recuperation.

Now Argentina!! Men I love the game!

EB what does gel means?

Yes France has the talent. Still they played bad today. Look at Spain's collective play. The amount of short pass. They are beautiful to watch.

Argentina was also not that impressive today. Or maybe Island is just that good. Men a country the size of Laval that brings a team to the world cup! With a dentist as coach. Island plays as a team where each play their role perfectly. They might surprise us again after Euro 2016.

Group B is set-up nicely: don't count-out Iran (3 pts) to go through at the expense of either Spain or Portugal.

Iceland look primed for a repeat of their Euro 16 performance, when they reached the quarters, while proving again that possession stats mean almost nothing at this level ....

Love Godin, but Uruguay were underwhelming, and Suarez is starting to look old ....

EB what does gel means?

Basically in this context gel has the same meaning as the word “mesh”- meaning allthe parts need to be fit together over time. In sports the word “gel” is really short for gelatinize, meaning the team needs time to solidify. I guess there is no French translation for it but closest would be “mesh”, although “gel” more commonly used in sports.
