Although he has an inexplicable 35 goal drop off from last year (64 to 29), McDavid nevertheless has 126 points, and is just one behind Kucherov and McKinnon, who are tied at 127 points to lead the NHL. This is a 3 dog dogfight and it's going to go right to the last game!!!!!!!

The Rangers won the assorted fights (2 seconds in LOL) and the game vs. Devils tonight in NYC, this despite 8 ejections including Rempe, who received a game misconduct:

Total circus, I’m glad they sent most of them to the dressing rooms from the get go, I find it ridiculous.

That was a devastating hit by Ekholm! BTW Ekholm is having his best season in the NHL this year. I kind of feel sorry for Rantanen, because he didn't see the hit coming and it sent him airborne in a BIG WAY. But when you play in the NHL, this is what you sign up for. You are going to be roughly checked. Its not women's hockey rules.

With 5 games to go, here are some storylines to watch

-The Rangers, with 52 wins now, are 2 wins, and 6 points, in 5 games, away from setting franchise records in both categories. The Rangers have been playing NHL hockey in New York City since the 1927-1927 season as one of the original 6 franchises, and I am going to take a wild guess and say that is before any of you guys were born. It's almost 100 years worth of hockey seasons.

- with a few big games, Kucherov (136 points) leads McKinnon (131) and McDavid (130) for most points. Kucherov wants the scoring title badly.

- your goals leader is Auston Matthews, who has all but clinched the title with 64 goals and an insurmountable 11 goal lead;

- on team goals, Colorado Avalanche have scored the most with 285 and Winnipeg has yielded the least with 190;

- your assists leader is Connor McDavid with 99;

- it would appear to any reasonable hockey fan that Connor Hellebuyck has all but won the Vezina Trophy, but he trails the Panthers' mammoth backup goalie, the 6'6", 243 pound Anthony Solarz, .923 to .920 for the save % title. Solarz, who has played far less games, also leads the NHL in the GAA category;

- your penalty minutes leader is Liam O'Brien of the Coyotes with a commanding 23 minutes lead; the Florida Panthers have the most PM as a team

- Your MAJOR penalty leader features a 3 way tie at 11 between O'Brien, Flyers top goon Nicolas Deslauriers (who had the fight of the season with Matt Rempe of the Ny Rangers), and LA Kings' thug defenseman Andreas Englund. One of these guys needs a major in the next few games to win the title

The Ottawa Senators are once again at the center of an empty net goal controversy. This time, Nico Hischier of the NJ Devils, apparently being a "good" Devil and wanting to give the Senators a "Devilish" taste of their own medicine, buries the puck into the Net after the buzzer sounded. It's not a goal because the buzzer went off, but Hischier's mistake to give the Senators a little taste of their own medicine was unmistakeable. And Brady Tkachuk goes berserk because of this action, and is looking for a fight from anyone on the Devils who will accept:

Definitely no surprise. That's one of the biggest hits I have ever seen taken. Kind of reminded me of when Scott Stevens did the same to Eric Lindros who was actually much bigger than Stevens. Lindros learned a painful lesson about skating with head down, where it caught elbow. This kind of ended his career as an elite player:

Meanwhile referee Steve Kozari was stretchered off the ice and is in concussion protocol or worse after this mid ice collision with Hayden Fleury (see 0:32 mark of video). It looked like his head bounced off the ice like a basketball:

Yeah Tkachuk dropping his gloves once he’s 100% sure the refs are controlling everyone!

Rangers reveal plan to fight Devils, stand with Rempe:
This a much tougher Rangers team than recent past editions. They don't take shit from anyone, especially not the NJ Devils!!!

After last night's 5-2 win over the Habs, the Rangers need just one win in 4 games to set a franchise record with 54 wins. This would be incredible!!
