Look at this, goalie Wedgewpood is collided with by Zach Benson, and is writhing in pain inside the goal, there is no whistle, then Benson scores an easy, uncontested goal! (easiest goal of his life)
Avs coach Jared Bednar said it was "insanity" for officials not to blow a play dead after goaltender Scott Wedgewood was down in the net and hurt during Thursday's game against the Sabres.

When I watched this initially in real time, I thought Wedgewood was flopping, because the contact did not seem so bad, but clearly he was not flopping. I am wondering if the refs thought it was a flop and punished Wedgewood by not blowing the whistle??????? Actually the refs told Bednar that Benson was shoved into Wedgewood by a Sabres player, so it's a self inflicted injury and a play on situation. I was not aware that was the rule. Also, it appeared to me that Benson was lightly checked, at best.
