Where Is The Epistemology Here???

I am afraid this story prompts me to ask what I consider the most obvious question, and that simply is, how does any body know who is a virgin and who is not? I mean, the phrase "40-year-old virgin" seems like an oxymoron to me, but assuming arguendo that there is some guy in that dubious, ignominious category, it seems far more likely that he would lie about it and claim to have had sex when in fact he never has.

Is there something called the National Registery of Virgins that can verify this, or a book entitled "Who's Who in Virginity"? Admittedly, some dudes are not too swift with women due to lack of personality/looks or whatever, but, really,I am having a difficult time imagining some guy that age actually ADMITTING to being a virgin, even if he is.

Conversely, I met a guy a few years ago in his mid-20s who looked like a real ladies man. Well, to make a long story short, he had to admit in open court on the record that he was, in fact, a virgin.

Just my 2 cents. Or 5 cents, adjusted for inflation.

I don't know if you've seen the movie or not but in the movie the guys coworkers find out durring a discussion about past conquests and the thing of this movie is that it's not even being mean to virgins it just kinda shows how akward it can be and how worse that akwardness can get with age.

And usualy it will pop up durring a discussion not necessarily open admital but just general things said that make you go "oh shit! are you a virgin?" at least thats how it happened with a buddy of mine. And the guy IS in his mid/late 30's now.

It's not a bad thing though, he's just waiting for the right one, what is bad however is that he isn't really actively searching, he's not as bad as the trekkies described in the "article" but he isn't real smooth either.

After reading a couple lines I was pretty sure it was just a sarcasm website so I decided to look around.

Clicked on the Brokeback Mountain link and it was subtitled: "Film tells tale of cowboys whose friendship, anal sex is misinterpreted as gay." So, yeah.

I think if the persons is well grounded there are no problems as long it doesn't quit the idea of regular relationships, but of course that doesn't apply for all the persons, while this can be good for someone it can be bad for others and viceversa.

What are your thoughts in the issue?
