A must see exhibition:Rodin at Musée des Beaux-Arts

If you have not seen it already hurry up,it is an incredible collection that the MMAB have put together...
There is even a section when we can touch the sculptures, it is meant for the blind but everybody can.
And since for once I didn't wait till the last minute to see it was not crowded.
The vitriail one I went the last day,never again,couldn't walk without bumping into someone...

One can hope,the museum is very active and well managed so let's hope for more major artist.

I doubt we'll be seeing any of Michelangelo's original works here anytime soon
I can only hope that they bring Da Vinci or Tamera de Lempika back.

I liked it for the displays of course but also for the detailed explanations of the matters and processes. I went in the beginning of July, mid week afternoon, and it was not crowded at all.

I think Thursdays they have docent tours . . . they will tell you a lot more about the exhibit, and end just before the exit so you can go back and look at everything they did not have time to cover. Give yourself plenty of time for this.

@ johnybird: there was an exhibition at the convention center on Michaelangelo's Sistine chapel back in July. Don't know if its still there. A little pricy at $20, but was good for a rainy day.

Thanks zelazfan. I didn't go to see it, although I saw images of how they presented it and it looks like they did a really beautiful job. They were just images though (would be kind of hard to bring the original art )

I was fortunate enough to visit Italy this July so I saw it in person along with some of his sculptures at the Vatican... It got me all choked up... pictures just don't do his art justice.

I would love to see his original sketches, now that would be something :smile: it would take a lot of will power not to roll one up, stuff it down my shirt and make a run for it! lol!

And I agree to see all the greats in real is moving,the one (and only time) I went to Paris I was in the Louvre and crying in front of the Renoir's and Degas...

I wanted to visit the Louvre on my long layover in Paris but I was too paranoid of not making it back in time between the traffic, lineups & customs. You know, I hate to be late.
I have to make it a point to make a special trip down there eventually.

I don't know if any of you noticed but he can mold the hell out of a man's behind, some of those sculptures gave me a complexe :(

Funny how the French government would keep his art works in heated museums, and not consider heating his studio..
