With my friend, it's a totally different story. If he hasn't had a successful encounter, he will just pace around, get irritated and be a major pain-in-the-ass. He's in tremendous shape and if i wasn't around to coach him, he could see 3, 4 or more girls consecutively. I told him recently that his behaviour between sex sessions reminded me of a drug addict in need of his fix. Like someone in withdrawal. "You're correct, my friend", he said. "Now will you believe me that we're different and that i'm a hopeless sex addict?" You see, my friend not only sees many women when he goes to Mtl, he also has regular sexual intercourse back home. It's non-stop with him and his hunger for sex is endless. He hates feeling like this, and at times, it's driving him nuts! I checked the list posted by the general and my friend fits the profile of all 10 of them!!

btyger,

Thanks, I just read Doc's post on this (I don't know how I missed it). Anyways, his friend is a definite sex addict, with the classic signs. I am not sure about you but you're nowhere near this type of behavior - are you? I mean you'll see a couple of SPs a night on occasion but this does not necessarily classify you as a sex addict. Can you stop for a while?

All I know is that if you start pacing and getting irritated and very anxious, it's a classic sign. I went through a brief stint like this but the difference is that it lasted for days, not weeks or months.

Just curious, how would you guys feel about seeing a sex therapist who financed her education escorting?

It has been suggested to me as a possible career after I graduate, and I know of one ex-SP who is now a practicing sex therapist.

Taken one step further (as seen on SexTV): there is a sex therapist in France who sees a client for a discussion on their sexual problems, then this is followed by the two having sex together.

Pot/hash: I've never had a problem NOT smoking the shit when I don't have it. I've gone for weeks/months/years like this at times. But the moment I have a stash of it, I gotta smoke it every day. Not a whole lot, the equivalent of one doobie a day, but every day still... I wish I could keep it around the house and only bring it out on special occasions.

Same here sapman99 - when I don't have any I don't even think about it, when there is a bag full in my freezer I can't go a day without it.

btyger,

Bro... you've got a serious problem.

I don't know anything about the treatment or pathology of sex addiction. I wonder if anyone has ever done a study comparing hormone levels or brain scans of sex addicts vs normal people.

It's time to consider professional help

Then there's the other guy, which is me. This is the guy who slowly, or sometimes rapidly, self destructs. The commonality between the two is a lack of self control. Because we don't hurt others, at least not physically, guys like me often go our whole lives without ever realizing we have a problem. The tragedy is that we do destroy someone: ourselves, and sometimes our family through our actions..

btyger,

Nugie is right, it's more serious than I originally thought. I also feel that you might be very depressed without even knowing it. I highly, highly recommend you see a psychiatrist to discuss this problem IMMEDIATELY. There is no shame whatsoever. What are the classic symptoms of depression? Here is a list to watch for:

  • Constant sadness
  • Lack of motivation
  • Irritability
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Feelings of isolation, not as involved with family and friends
  • Loss of interest in favorite activities
  • Hopelessness
  • Feeling worthless or guilty for no reason
  • Thoughts of death or suicide
  • Fatigue
  • Low energy
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Significant weight change

You have to ask yourself if you have any of these symptoms and if so, do your symptoms interfere with your interaction with family and friends, or your enjoyment of favorite (other) hobbies or activities?

btyger, lack of sleep is terrible and can lead to serious health problems. I would avoid sleeping pills because it might just create a dependency and eventually they become ineffective. As far as the hobby goes, SLOW DOWN. Choose one or two ladies and stay with them for at least two hours. Talk with them but make no mistake - you should consult with a professional psychiatrist first. Again, there is no shame in seeking help when you need it and I feel that you need it right now.

Sometimes life gets overwhelming for all of us, including SPs and clients. You're right, the gentle clients keep a lot bottled in;) and we often need help but are not seeking it in the right places.

Please take care of yourself FIRST.

Man, talk about being a victim of circumstance.

Make sure the help you get is something that attacks the problem instead of its symptom(s).

Excellent point, btyger needs to get to the root of the problem. Medication can help but he also needs to confront the issue head on. It is also possible that the psychiatrist will refer him to a psychologist if he or she feels that there is no need for medication. The point is that's he has nothing to lose discussing his problem with a trained professional. They are there to help and they keep secrets better than any SP out there.

btyger>>> Quiting an addiction to sex is no different than kicking any other habit/addiction. It is very difficult. Get yourself a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and trust. Go shopping for one; if you don't like the first one try another. Your G.P. might be able to reccomend someone. Another suggestion is to see if there is a 12-step sex addicts anonymous in your area. This might prove helpful also.

The first step to regaining control of your life is to admit that you have lost control and need help. It seems to me that you have already done this. Good for you.

I am nowhere becoming a therapist, if I do indeed choose to go that route. However if you think that you would feel more comfortable talking to a therapist who is now a retired SP send me an email and I will forward you her coordinates.
