Fair enough, but what has Trudeau done to keep the economy going? Business is leaving, known fact.

Ambiguous fact. FDI has been going up again recently.

As with most Trudeau stuff, it seems a mixed bag.
We are doing OK but could be booming. If anything Trudeau held us back somewhat, just my opinion.
You may be right, but I don't see a lot from any of the other parties that looks like it would lead to better.
Climate change, Canada is neither the problem nor the solution when it comes to climate change, the carbon tax is a money grab that does zero to reduce climate change but it does cause people to have less to spend.
The carbon tax needs to be handled in a way that is less regressive, but also it can't just live on its own. I think most economic analysis shows that the overall impact on GDP is pretty low, but the whole point of something like that is to move and direct funds to accomplish stuff. I think Trudeau and company have just made it a kind of fetish - "see! we are doing something" and that hasn't helped.
Pay equality, there is a law and always has been for equal pay at same jobs within the same company. In general women ( can we still say women ? ) have lower paying jobs as they go into fields as nursing or teaching instead of higher paying engineering jobs.
It's not as simple as choosing different jobs. (I get annoyed with the "77 cents on the dollar" thing as an oversimiplification, but the argument that it is all free choice also has no merit.) But the main shift was moving it to proactive as opposed to reactive. That's a good step, even if (as you say) that the rule was that there was supposed to be equal pay anyway. It is a lot fairer if you don't have to chase down your company and prove there was a problem after the fact.
And pot, the people I know will not buy there, too expensive and low quality, but it got him elected.
His lies and arrogance should be enough to turn voters away.8
I think the pot thing (handled badly) was mostly because if he broke or failed one more big issue promise he wouldn't have a chance.
I think his lies and arrogance HAVE turned lots of voters away. Look at his numbers vs when he was elected. The question is where do those people go? If the conservatives come off as the party of Ford, they aren't going to pick up a lot of those people. If they come across as sober-minded people with a better way they might. The social issue stuff is a bit of a crap shoot. I don't think they get as much benefit out of social resentment as the GOP does down south, and they also have to compete with the PPC, who do that schtick better. (Of course, it might work out that if the PPC goes over the top with that, the Cons can be the "we aren't THAT crazy" party and do well. I don't know.)
We will see what happens with the campaign. I'm really not certain which way things will go. I think if the Cons go all in on "Trudeau is a liar and unfit" they open themselves up for a debate on character and I don't know how well Scheer does in that fight. (The impression I have had is more people know Scheer, the less they like him.)
