I have the feeling, reading the various agency ads here and elsewhere, that business is down significantly in the last several months.

Anyone have the same feeling?

It always look this way, but i doubt it is. Thing is a couple years ago you had less agency, today you have more, so more choices for us, agencies always have to get better and better to stay competitive when previously when i started 1h late was more or less the norm and wasn't "bad" ... if you wanted to book from top agency, you had to deal with that. Not as much today. I just think business depends from one agency to another, but they pretty much all make enough $ to remain in business. Of course they will always want to recruit because more girls = more $ and they can always hire more drivers anyway.

In my opinion things are slow in the sex industry these days for both agencies and stripclubs in montreal and from what i understand it is also the same way in toronto but perhaps not quite as bad. When agencies makes posts that they are offering specials and so on but they are as busy as ever i just LOL, It is utter bullshit. The economy in mtl is hurting and not going to get better anytime soon. I have been going to mtl for a lot of years and it has never been easier to get strippers to come back to your room. They are there to make money and if they can't make what they need stripping many are open to takeout if you have the money to spend and you know how to talk to them, it is not even a challenge anymore to pick them up. Some stripclubs have dropped the prices of dances back down to $10 per dance. They haven't done this because they are nice guys they did it because business was dead.

again january to mars is probably the worst time of the year for this industry... In summer its a different thing... Just my hotel room, same room, i pay 70$ now, i pay 110$ in summer... 40$ MORE !!! thats a lot for the exact same thing, only because its summer time.

Everybody knows it is slower in the winter months then it is in the summertime but my point is, it is much slower now in the winter months then it was 5 to 10 years ago for both agencies and stripclubs.

I agree sampson. I usually go the massage parlour route and its the same thing there. 2 or 3 places I went in the last month told me its much slower this year than the last few years.
I took a girl at one of the places and she told me she had just been back from Toronto to do some escorting and it was extremely slow there also for her.

Well partially the fact this winter has been way colder than normal in Toronto, with more snow and an ice storm, probably has something to do with why things are slower this time around. Probably less of a factor in montreal. But a few weeks ago I went to a popular strip club in MTL on Fri night and the place was D E A D.

Look behind you.
About 3 years ago I started going to Madona's in Drummondville and it was a good and very busy place to be, lot's of fun and the girls had a good time without pestering the customers to go in the booth. Now it is a lot slower with a new group of girls who are not making any money and as soon as possible they want booth action.... And yes Quebec's economy is in the crapper which does not help things. I met a SP who works across Canada and her rates are: Quebec $180 per/hr, Calgary & Edmonton $300 per/hr, Regina & Saskatoon $400 per/hr, Vancouver $250 per/hr

The whole economy is going through a flat period, and there is less work in many of the major traditional Industries. Engineering, Building Industries ( mainly due to weather) and Tourism are all down from previous years this has a knock on effect to all other Entertainment and punters don't have the money to spend. Bars are being hit sure there's lots of people in but they are not drinking as much. SPs will have less customers. Even the regulars will space out their visits. The paymaster rules apply, and Quebec being one of the highest taxed provinces gets hit harder than most.

Vancouver is cheaper than Saskatoon? How strange!

Weather is a big factor...like today ,it is more attractive for me to stay home with my books that taking the bus in the cold ,if I don't have a date planned ahead I choose the former...

When you see agencies putting on specials, dropping prices, offering free swallow that always charged for this, or any reasonable offer accepted, or one girl heavily discounted for the day, this is not rocket science why they are doing this. The phone is no longer ringing the way it used to. It is as plain and as simple and as uncomplicated as this. If times were good and they were as busy as ever, they would be jacking the prices up and charging for any extra that they could get away with, that's the bottom line.

True, but I think most customers of agencies that advertise on MERB are from out of town, many from the US.
So the economy of Montreal itself shouldn't have that much of an impact.

What prompted me to ask the question in the first place are how agressive many of the old established agencies have become recently in their advertising - something I have not seen in the last 30 years to the same degree.
One would expect a drop in prices and/or maybe an exodus of SP's but that doesn't seem to be happening.

Best way to know if it's really slow is to watch the girls switching agencies. There's always rumours in the cars that a girl knows another girl that dates a driver who can't make his entire shift without filling up his car 'cause the grass is so green where he works. If there's a big "boom" in the trading, than the phones are dead everywhere.

Very good observation, Lusty Elena. I've also noted that often when there is a lot of movement/girls switching agencies, it's a sign that business is slow.

A few months ago, i decided at the last minute to try to see someone since it was my last night in town. Until that point, i had been fairly quiet & started to feel like my trip would be a waste if i didn't make the phone call. I looked at the various schedules & a few ladies working for an agency caught my eye. However, since it was already 9 or 10pm, i figured my chances of seeing anyone prior to 11pm wouldn't be happening. If it was going to be past 11pm, then forget about it. I'm heading to bed at that time.

But to my great surprise, the first girl i inquired about could be in my room in 5 minutes. Since i wasn't yet ready (i needed to shower, get my things organized, etc), i then asked about another girl. Once again, i was told she could be in my room in 5 minutes. So when i threw out another name, i was once again told that she also could be in my room in 5 minutes. I found it hard to believe, and figured they'd tell me 5 minutes just so they wouldn't lose a call and the girl would actually arrive an hour later or so....with the usual excuses from the driver/agency. So when i asked the booker if he/she was joking about the girl being in my room in 5 minutes, i was assured that it was no joke. The girl i picked would be in my room in 5 minutes!

So i asked if it was possible she show up in 20 minutes since i needed to take a quick shower. My request was accepted. And exactly 20 minutes later, my guest arrived.

She told me that the vehicle she was in was parked only a couple of minutes away from my hotel when i called. They were waiting for one of their girls to finish. She was seeing a client located at the same hotel i was at. When i told her if it was true that all the other girls i enquired about were available when i called, she said that it was indeed true. I couldn't believe it!

She told me that things were very slow not only for her, but also at her agency. She told me that she had been contemplating switching agencies after being at the same agency for years. She asked me about a particular agency she had in mind (a very, very popular agency), and i told her that it was indeed a very popular agency which might raise her current amount of traffic. She told me that things were totally dead at the present time & would be meeting that other agency's operator on the following day. I was surprised that this would be happening so soon, but she told me that she was fed up with spending most of her nights sitting in a car & barely making any money after a day's work.

She wound up being hired by that agency, but her employment was very brief. My guess is that her former employer began to harass her for leaving, who knows. She did go back to her old agency, but she's barely on schedule these days. Maybe she decided she might as well work as an indy and spend her time at home instead of in a car, and then see regular clients and referrals. Who knows.

But from all accounts, things are actually very slow at many agencies these days. Girls that were fully booked immediately when the schedule would be posted are now available within two hours of a phone call. At most agencies, you don't even have to pre-book since chances are that the girl(s) in question will be available when you do make your phone call.

I don't really know what the reason is for this. I can't blame the US/CA dollar exchange rate anymore since you gain considerably with the $$ exchange if you're American. The economy is going pretty good. Can't blame hotel rates either since i only paid $91 for the Omni the last time i was in town. Maybe it's the unusually cold & long winter. Several people i know would have travelled to Mtl recently if it wasn't for the cold. Maybe regular hobbyists have simply found a better place in the world to spend their hard-earned $$. Several people i know now prefer travelling to Germany, Asia & South America, where sps are quite more affordable. Or maybe there are simply too many agencies/girls working in Mtl right now. The supply considerably outweighs the demand. Who knows....

Really? I stopped going to SC in Montreal quite some time ago. Over priced dances. Extras were not worth it, compare to agencies.
